New Equipment

[Scan complete]

Type: Weapon (Broadsword)

Quality: C

[A fine Blade forged by Harn Algarin. This is a mass-production model, and it is well-balanced and perfect for any warrior to use.]

Status: Slashing/Stabbing Damage

The average quality of these weapons was between G and D, but this one was a C which made it exceptional quality. Asher decided that since it was plain-looking, no one would be able to notice its disappearance. He tapped his fingers against the blade, and it broke into tiny fragments of light that would disappear into the air.

['Iron Broadsword' has been registered. Weapons 2/3]

He thought about grabbing another sword, but there was nothing compared to the iron broadsword and Singing Steel. The best sword would be in his father's collection, which was locked with a powerful enchantment that the duke could open. Asher thought about what other items he could add to his inventory. His eyes fell on the halberds and spears on the other end of the room. His eyes scanned each one as he did with the swords just a moment before. His eyes feel on one halberd. It was plain compared to the others, but it was of higher quality like the broadsword.

Type: Weapon (Halberd)

Grade: C

[ A weapon forge by Harn Algarin. The Blade is heavy and durable. It is perfect for breaking armor or shield]

Status: Stab/Slash damage

It was strange that the same person made the weapon, but it was more bizarre that it was the highest quality of all the weapons. Asher grabbed the halberd, breaking it into fragments of light as it vanished into his inventory.

['Iron Halbert' has been registered. Weapon 3/3]

[Objective complete]

Asher decided to take one more weapon so that he could have variety. A sword allows short-range fighting, and the halbert could fight at a safe distance. So he would need a long-range weapon that would enable him to take a target from a distance. Asher found a bow on a rack on the side of the room. It would take some time, but he knows how to use it somewhat. Asher was not a prodigy or anything, but he could at least hit a target. The bow he picked up was a simple longbow.

Type: Weapon (longbow)

Grade: D

[A bow that a user can accurately shoot at 100 yards.]

Requirement:10 STR

Status: piercing damage

It was strange because it had a requirement, unlike the other weapons. Asher guessed that it was because of the vital need to draw the string. The bow vanished into his inventory. Asher grabbed a hand full of arrows that disappeared into his inventory. Using the guards' armor was not an option because they were too big on him, and the armor would not fit him well.

With his weapons chosen, he turned to leave before the guards discovered him. As he approached the exit, three figures came down the stairs, and Asher quickly hid under one of the tables.

"Damn it, who was that? They keep running and dodging all the spells we through at him. It was like it knew where firing." One guard with black hair complained loudly.

"Yeah, when I finally did hit it. Asher disappeared just like that. Could he have teleported?" The second guard scratched his beard in curiosity.

"Don't think so. The space element is rare enough, and the thief would have used it earlier if they even had it. You probably just vaporized the poor bastard, Conner." The cocky first guard with black hair bosted and mocked Asher's replica. Asher bit his lip. If this was what they were saying was true, then it meant that there was a limit to the shock that a replica could take before disappearing, just like the monster replica in his room. But also, it meant that the replica was no longer around.

'Damn it. That would mean I cannot use the replica to get out of here. If I tried to summon it, the guards would find him immediately.'

Asher looked around for any way to get out as the guards continued their conversation. "It is weird," the third guard spoke up for the first time. "Why would the intruder try to sneak in, Crusty?"

The first guard named Crusty shrugged, "Because he was an idiot, Blake. He thought he could slip but the manor guards. But he wasn't even a good match." Crusty laughed, mocking Asher's replica. "Poor bastard didn't even get a single spell off before being annihilated. The dude was probably just some idiot on a dare."

'Remind me to give you stable duty for a week.' Asher thought in quiet anger. He spotted a stack of helmets in one of the corners. An idea took shape in his head. He held out his hand and the bow he had just appeared. In his other, an arrow appeared. It was a little difficult to remain under the table so that he could draw back the bow.

He laid the bow flat and pulled it back as far as possible with some difficulty. It broke through the smoky cover when he loosed the arrow and sailed towards helmets. The path was shakey and not perfect, but when it connected, the stack fell, making a loud sound. The guards all looked at the pile of helmets scattered on the floor.

"What was that?"

"The helmets fell. Guess they were placed shakily."

"Well, don't just stand there and pick them up."

As the guard cleaned up Asher's mess, Asher used the opportunity to slip out of the room and rushed up the stairs. He found a private spot to release his veil when he got outside. Asher let out a sigh as the tension left his body. He had succeeded in acquiring the weapon he needed.

"Young master, what are you doing out here?" Asher nearly jumped out of his skin. He turned to find Henry standing just a few feet away from him. Asher's mind went a mile a minute trying to mitigate damage control. He had to figure out what he knew so that he didn't get caught.

"There was an intruder, and I came to see if the guard apprehended him."

"Yes," Henry adjusted his suit, smoothing it. "There was no report, yet why would you know about that..." His eyes narrowed knowingly.

Asher did not panic. "I am the one who alerted the guards."

"I find it odd because nothing was reported missing, and he vanished before we could interrogate him. It is almost as if the guard hallucinated him entirely." Henry's tone made him seem like he was not speculating but insinuating that Asher was the cause.

'Henry, my friend, you are much smarter and capable than most guards here.' Asher thought before speaking. "Then what do you think they were after?"

"Not sure, but I think they know not to do anything stupid." Henry gave Asher a menacing glare. Asher nodded and when to turn before Henry got in his way. "If you're going to do stupid things, the least you can protect yourself."

"I---"

Before Asher could speak, Henry interrupted. "Yes, I am sure you have no idea what I am talking about." Henry pulled out a box and handed it to Asher. "Here, these should help." Asher took them, and a bell chimed in his head.

[Light Enchant Armor Set]

Type: Armor (Cloth)

Quality: A

[These clothes are enchanted to be as light and breathable as satin but as tough as steel. They are used for protection against most attacks.]

Set Stats: +25 Vit, +20% HP

Resistance: Stab, Slashing, Bulgening

Asher looked at the equipment in awe as Henry turned to walk away. "Thank you, Henry."

"Just try to be safe."

With that, Henry walked off. Asher waited a moment before placing it in his inventory. The system chimed in response.

[Light Enchanted Armor has been registered. Armor 1/1]

[Congratulations! You have completed 'Beginner Equipment.' Rewards will now be distributed]

[+5 exp; +2 SP]

Asher decides to pull up his inventory. Asher moved the icon indicating the new armor and moved it to his picture. When he did, lights appeared around his body, taking shape as the armor appeared on him. The armor looked like a nice black coat and pants, and it was nothing fancy. It just looked like an average outfit anyone would wear. Like its description, it was soft and light to the touch and allowed a full range of motion. Asher liked that it was light and came with a hood that he could use to cover his face. The Armor was perfect for sneaking into town without anyone figuring out who he was. Asher pulled up his stat screen.

[Player Status]

Asher's stats have increased wearing his new armor. Also, he figured out SP meant stat points and figured that Asher could use them for any of his stats. He thought for a minute to figure out where he should put them. After a moment, Asher decided to go with his AGI making it now 14. Once he confirmed that he wanted to increase his agility, his body felt automatically lighter. It was amazing what just two points could do.

With his new weaponry and armor, he was finally ready to head to the adventurer guild. He closed his eyes, letting the black smoke snakes consume him disappearing from existence.
