Chapter 24

Both men were huffing and puffing when they got out of the opposite parts of the forest, sweating profusely from dragging several items.

Once they saw each other, they somehow put on a smile, seeing that the other was okay.

They throw all the things they have gathered into one gigantic pile in front of the tent they the made for the otherworlder.

Even if all those requests were odd, all they could do was to follow, hoping for redemption, clinging to the chance their families were still alive.

The two fell on their behinds once they were done with all of it. Fatigue taking toll on their bodies from working all day to collect the amount of stuff they needed.

“What’s will he do with all these things?”

Hallor grumbled before letting himself fall on the ground to lie on the cold earth.

“I don’t understand myself.”

Galford remained seated, throwing a confused gaze at the odd heap they have collected all throughout the forest.

“Wow, you two are fast.”

Clifford chuckled, seeing his companions had completed the task he asked for.

He didn’t notice it until the ringing sound on his system notified him, since he’d been resting to regain some strength.

“Sir Clifford, may we ask what this is for?”

Hallor sat up, glaring at the mound of rubble in front of them. Unable to comprehend why they had to gather so much of it in that place.

“The meat I can understand, but what do we need this many stones and wood for?”

Galford throws his hands in utter frustration. No longer holding on to his temper because of the fatigue.

Both of them were famished, after having gathered all those in a short amount of time, since they were in a hurry.

At first, he thought it was some kind of offering. Because of all the needed animal parts, but after they got asked to search for the other things, he became baffled and confused.

“I wanted to try something.”

Clifford doubted they understand if he explained all of it. Also, he did not bother with their behavior, since he was thankful they finished the job quickly.

“I just hope this works or else will end up with nothing but a kamikaze option.”

He mumbles to himself, unsure if it’ll work, cause it was only based on his theory.

Now that he had the proper amount of resources in his hands, he can finally try his controller mode. Since he’d been itching to find out what it can do.

From his mind view, several buttons became clickable on the little tent. He breathe a sigh of relief upon seeing that.

First, he clicked the icon with the picture of a stone being. And in an instant, an energy coursed through the small dwelling.

“Master, what’s happening?”

Hallor crawled back when he saw a blue flash of lightning came out from the tent, striking the pile and disintegrating a portion of it.

“Get back, child!”

Galford was quick to move too, glimpsing at the light appearing beneath the earth near them, turning into a circle with patterns and odd letters.

All they could do was watch in awe, mouths opened in sheer shocks as things unfolded right before their eyes.

Rocks, mud, lightning swirled, forming into what seemed to be a torso, followed by an arm, and an armor of stone. In moments, a human sized being emerged from it, glimmering like the magical creature it was.

Galford and Hallor ended up gaping at the levitating entity in front of them. Both swallowing hard as the thing stared at them with glowing eyes.

“By the gods, what is that?”

It was the older warrior who blurted out from the sheer awestruck. Restless that they had somehow brought upon some kind of horror.

“Don’t worry. It’s only a worker golem.”

Not wanting to make the same mistake again, Clifford immediately shifted to his editor mode and began changing the golem’s settings.

First, he increased its defenses, from magic to physical. He added a few skills to it, along with some adjustments.

While this was happening, the two warriors can’t help but ogle at the floating entity cause it remained inactive.

“What would you need that for?”

Hallor grumbled.

Throwing his hands in the air in utter frustration, thinking it was of no use since it did nothing at that point.

“It’ll make things easier for us.”

Clifford didn’t bother with the youth, because he was busy putting all the precautions he deemed necessary around the place.

“What will we do, then?”

Galford furrowed, worried about their fate.

If the thing was indeed something that worked, as per its name. Then he thought they were no longer of any use.

“Defend the base the best you can.”

Though Clifford answered, he continued to work on his little mater piece, grinning as he put on the last addition in place.

“That will be difficult, if it’s just the two of us.”

Galford turned to his pupil, who was now swallowing hard, trembling from the idea of fighting the powerful monster there.

Unlike him, the lad had only a handful of experience in battle, especially with beasts. So he feared he might not be up for the task, knowing full well his proteges capabilities.

“I already thought of that. Give me a moment here.”

Clifford only needed to set up the unit’s name to differentiate it, since he did not want to waste time editing its entire form.

“Its moving!”

Hallor blurts out in cheer, jumping, and wide eyed while pointing at it.

The golem proceeded to the nearest rock, pounding it until it was the proper size, then returns to add those to the pile.

“Yes, now that’s complete. I need both of you to stand still. Also, show me your weapons.”

Clifford’s his focus shifted to the two individuals. Since he had finished clicking the golem icon to summon a few more.

Both warriors gave each other confused gazes, but followed anyway.

The two raised their swords, not knowing exactly where they should raise it, because they still don’t know where he was.

Yet he did not bother to correct them, since he now had a good view of their gear. He starts by adjusting the damages and adding some effects on the weapons, before proceeding with their armors.

“Master, can you feel that?”

Hallor’s smile grew wide, seeing how his sword glowed.

“This must be the blessing!”

Galford also had the same expression.

Both men were sensing the energy of their new items coursing through them. The power in each of them seem to vibrate.

Once done, he adjusted both of the men’s stats by around ten more points, along with adding a few abilities he considered safe.

He did not want to make too much changes, since he remain unsure if their psychical and mental capacity could handle the strain.

When he finished with them, the two jumps in glee, as they could sense the slight change in their bodies.

“Why don’t you guys try to get used to your new abilities while I finish here?”

Clifford lets them practice so he can return to his other task.

Both warriors nod before sparring. Excited to test the gift bestowed upon them by him.

With four additional golems, it did not take much for him to gather enough resources to recreate the hut he lost on his starting point.

He began letting his units to build the thing, but unlike in the game, they were taking quite long.

The golems would grab rocks and wood, put it in an oven-like part of them, wait a few minutes and a new material comes out for construction.

Once done, he wasted no time and clicked the options there. Another countdown appeared, as the building shined, because of the sigil beneath it.

Everything was going well until several pop-ups came out.

‘Warning! Energy surge has disturbed nearby monsters.’

Red dots began appearing on the map, all of them moving directly for their location.

“Guys, I hope you’re ready. Because there’s quite a lot of enemy coming our way.”

Upon hearing that, Hallor and Galford nodded, pausing in a battle stance, while they pointed their weapons towards the woods.

“Do not fear!”

The older warrior state, as a thrust of confidence surge in him, having that sensation of lightness.

“Let them come!”

The youngster grinned, confident of his newfound power.

From their perspective, they easily sensed the upcoming danger, catching a waft of the chilling blood thirst being sent their way.

Yet, because of the increase in their strength, along with the energy coursing through their veins, they became unwavering.

Clifford, panicking, started putting on as much precautions as he can while the enemies were afar.

Since he did not want to lose his companions and his new camp.
