"what was that about?" she asks when she finishes placing her order, looking at me like l am crazy, as if l was responsible for my earlier outburst. How could she even think that when she saw just how badly her sister and my mother were treating me. The woman called me out for something that was not my fault reminding me of all the blame that was assigned to me when l was growing up
Whenever the house help or a relative would speak ill of me and my character, she would believe those people over me. And most of the time, it was all lies but she didn't care. That is how our relationship got strained in the first place. I can acknowledge that l wasn't always the best behaved child because we all make mistakes and have faults but she could have asked me if what they were saying was true instead of just taking their word over mine
