Chapter 12: snow jaguar

The shadow flashed by again, Klaus was finally able to get a clearer view of the creature hunting them. It was a very huge feline, spanning about seven from the shoulder to the hind lega, and about five feet in height, it was white with grey stripes, with eyes that glowed an eerie green color it also had something that looked like an antenna that was swishing about ferociously, but the size of this beast wasn't the scariest thing about this beast, it was it's teeth and it's claws, it had teeth that looked like they should be on the extinct sabertooth tiger and the claws were so long they didn't look like they could retract back into it's paws.

The beast eventually slinked out of the trees and faced the grouped head on before letting put another roar that sent shivers down their spine, prince could be seen visibly swallowing saliva while trying to be incospicous so as not to be noticed by the beast.

"I think I just pissed my pants right now" whispered Romeo

There was a blur and the feline looking beast had already crossed the distance between them in a leap and Romeo was sent flying.

"I suggest you guys start making plans and try to regroup, since I wouldn't be participating in this, consider this a part of your training, try to subdue animal in front of you" Feng said while leaping about ten feet to one of the tree branches to spectate

"I would watch them for now but if things get out of hand I might have to step in and help out" Feng thought to himself

Chen made the mistake of turning around to look where Feng went and was sent flying, the beast was moving around in a split seconds and knocking everyone away, some of them could not even track it's movement.

Chen was starting to get exasperated and the edges of his eyes started getting smoky, he summoned his knives and threw them at the beast, but it seemed like the beast was able to predict his movements and quickly retreated into the shelter of the trees again, this gave Chen a few moments to call his team to order and give out instructions on what to do.

"Your eye kind of looks weird, what did you do to it" Bryan asked

"Now is not the time for silly questions we have to focus and try to survive this unfortunate ordeal seeing that Feng who was tasked with our safety has left us to fend for ourselves, Bryan since you are not really good at close combat, I was you to act as our support, you can summon a gun and try to distract it while we box it in and finish it up" Chen instructed

"But how are we suppose to trap it or fight back when we can't even see it or track it's movements, it is too fast" prince asked

"That is why you need to focus, Klaus was the first one to see it and track it's movements well enough, and is the only who still hasn't gotten hit, because he had be very focused, remember how our eyesight got better and our strength improved greatly after our resurrection, I suggest we put those attributes to use now" Chen replied

While the group was still huddled up the feline beast pounced again, at that same moment Chen received a quest from his system

[New quest]

[Subdue the snow jaguar]

So that it's name, chen could see that this test was not made mandatory but he still had to win this to ensure neither he or his friends died, since it wasn't guaranteed they would resurrect again if they get killed.

Chen summoned his know es again and crouched low, waiting for the snow jaguar to make it's move, Klaus and the rest had already summoned their weapons too and also assumed the same position, the tried to flank the snow jaguar on four sides to prevent it's escape with Chen attacked it at close range, the feline pounced again crossing a distance of about 20 meters in jthe twinkling of an eye but Chen was ready this time, he anticipated the move and crossed his hands in front of this face to block the swipe from the jaguar, he managed to block the hit but was sent skidding a few meters back, the jaguar left very deep claw marks on his forearm, but the could be seen healing, the snow jaguar changed it's direction immediately and went after victor, who immediately threw out two knives towards the snow jaguar, the snow jaguar leapt into the air and acrobatically dodged both knives by twisting it's body.

Klaus seeing this summoned Glocks and shot consecutively at the direction where the snow jaguar dogded towards, the jaguar anticipated this once more and still managed to tiwst mid air to avoid the bullets but one of the bullets managed to graze it's ear, the area around the would was starting to darken and black smoke could be seen eating into the flesh in that area, the jaguar landed in the middle of the group and roared in rage.

"How did this mindless beast manage to dodge our combined attack" Klaus asked

"For a moment there I was certain we had already gotten it, but we only managed to scratch it's ear, I am beginning to think it has a sense of clairvoyance" prince said

"The snow jaguar normally is just like every other cat in the cat family, strong, fast and nimble, the major difference that sets it apart from other cats is it's ability to sense vibrations, those antennas it has are not for fancy or aesthetics, they can sense vibrations in the air allowing it to dogde attacks and escape great danger, I wonder how they would handle this" Feng thought while chuckling to himself.

The snow jaguar charged again, but this time towards Romeo, it stood on it's hind legs and swiped both it's fore legs at Romeo's face, Romeo dodged both swipes and at the same time summoned a knife and tried standing the underbelly of the jaguar but the jaguar managed to evade this by leaping backwards.

"This is getting very tiresome" Victor complained while wiping away sweat from between his brows.

"Bryan we asked you to cover for us but you haven't done anything yet, not a single shot from you, what have you been doing all this while" Chen asked angrily

"Calm down man, I haven't been able to find an opportunity yet to hit the target, you are suggesting I shoot without having a clear shot on the target what if I miss and one of you get hit" Bryan replied back

"It's charging again, everybody focus" Chen instructed
