Chapter 22: Sudden side quest (1)

Time passed and soon the sun began to set.

It was time for them to head out to the warehouse that the Yasha Group was meeting in and the warehouse that the Nova Group was about to ambush.

Yan Luo had already called his father and filled him in on the situation.

Judging by the parts of the call that Lin Fan could hear, it sounded like Yan Luo's father trusted him quite a bit since he agreed to Yan Luo's plan, which was actually Lin Fan's plan without any hesitation.

Now that the time to put this plan into order was approaching, Lin Fan actually felt more nervous. It was like being confident studying for a test the night before, but when it finally came, it felt like your stomach was about to punch its way out of your body.

When they left the Gates of Hell, there were two large limos waiting for them outside.

Yan Luo sent his followers into one of them before getting in another with Lin Fan and Sakura.

After getting into the limo, it was clear that Lin Fan wasn't used to stuff like this, so Yan Luo said, "Brother Lin, is this your first time in a car like this."

Lin Fan knew that there was no point in lying and also he wouldn't be able to lie with Yan Luo's so-called power, so he just said, "That's right, it is my first time. I have to say that it is a bit daunting."

Yan Luo gave a laugh and said, "Brother Lin, if you really can help our Yasha Group finish off the Nova Group tonight, you can ride in these kinds of cars any time."

Of course, his eyes also turned cold and he didn't forget to add, "But I don't need to remind you what will happen to you if it turns out you were lying, right?"

Lin Fan just gave a sigh and said, "You really have trust issues don't you?"

Yan Luo just smiled without saying a thing.

It didn't take them long to arrive at the warehouse since Yan Luo had already prepared for this by clearing out their way. There were barely any stops along the way, other than having to stop for stop lights.

Those were the only things that Yan Luo couldn't influence since they were controlled by the government.

Once they arrived and they came out of the limo, Lin Fan found that there were many different people who looked like gangsters who were lurking around.

At first, Lin Fan was surprised to see all of them here, but then he just walked right into the building without any care. After seeing so many of them in that other building, he had slowly become numb to all of this.

Compared to the feeling of death, there really was nothing scary about them.

Lin Fan thought that he would be able to meet Yan Luo's father, the boss of the Yasha Group, but there wasn't any meeting at all.

Right after he arrived, he was placed in a room which he was told was his waiting room. When it was his turn he would be brought out to do what he claimed he could do.

So Lin Fan just sat in this room alone, waiting for his time.

Of course, the first thing that Lin Fan did as soon as he came into this room was say, "Save."

"Save request has been confirmed. The host had created a save file."

He didn't know what would happen from now on and he didn't want to have to repeat all of this again.

There was nothing for him to do in this room, it was a very simple room with just a single table and two chairs at the sides of the table. The only thing that he could do was just sit and wait.

But after fifteen minutes, there was a notification from the system that suddenly shocked him.

"Congratulations host, you have encountered a side quest. Please do your best to complete it."

"Quest details: Save Su Yan."

There wasn't much information given at all, but Lin Fan was shocked when he saw the quest details.

This name was one that he had only just learned recently, but it was also one that was deeply imprinted in his mind.

This was the girl that he had only met for a few minutes, but for some reason, she had used her own life in exchange to save his.

He never had a chance to ask her why she did this, but it had been deeply imprinted in his mind…

Thinking about it, he realized that this was right.

Since he had used the load after what had happened in the penthouse, it should have all been erased and Su Yan should be alive again. But, what was she doing here?

Was she spying on the Yasha Group for the Nova Group?

Did that mean that she was being threatened by the Nova Group right now?

Lin Fan was confused why she would suddenly appear here and why the system would give him a side quest to save her, but he still decided to save her. She had used her life to save him, at the very least, he should help her when she needed it.

Lin Fan was free to leave at any time since he was a collaborator, rather than a prisoner, but he hadn't left before because he had been trying to plan out what to do in the upcoming confrontation. However, since there was a side quest that was given, he decided to go out.

When he came out of the door, the person waiting outside suddenly looked at him and asked, "Where are you going?"

This person was left here by Yan Luo to take care of Lin Fan's needs.

Unlike the rest of the gang, this person was the person who looked the least like a gangster. Instead, he was a rather quite cute kid who was even shorter than Lin Fan. In fact, he almost looked like a girl…

Lin Fan just said, "I have some business to take care of."

But that person didn't let Lin Fan go as he said, "The young master told me to take care of you, I can't just let you go by yourself."

Lin Fan narrowed his eyes to look at him and he said, "Are you sure about that? Do you really want your young master to know that you kept me here when I wanted to leave?"

That person knitted his brows and had a conflicted look on his face. While the young master had told him to take care of this person and keep him here, he had also seen how respectful the young master had been to this person. Someone that the young master was even respectful to definitely wasn't a normal person and definitely not someone he could offend.

Since that was the case, his only choice was to follow this person…

So that person said, "I'll come with you then."

Lin Fan thought about it before saying, "Whatever you want."

The two of them came out of the building they were in and Lin Fan headed off in the direction the map from the system pointed out.

It didn't take long before the two of them had heard the sounds of gunfire in the distance.

That person immediately knitted his brows and said, "Mister Lin, we should go back."

Lin Fan shook his head and said, "I came here for a reason, would you believe that?"

That person knitted his brows even more and had a heavy look of doubt in his eyes, but he still asked, "What reason is that?"

Lin Fan pointed forward and that person followed his finger until he saw some people in front of him, hiding behind a wall.

That person immediately recognized them and said, "Nova Group thugs, what are they doing here?"

Lin Fan just gave a shrug.

When that person turned back to Lin Fan, there was a trace of respect in his eyes now, "Mister Lin, how did you know they would be there?"

Lin Fan just said, "Intuition."

That person knew that since Lin Fan didn't want to say anything, there was no way for him to force it out of him.

However, there were only the two of them here, so they really couldn't do anything, especially since the Nova Group fellows all had guns.

That person immediately said, "Mister Lin, we should head back immediately and bring backup. This isn't something that we can handle ourselves."

Lin Fan just calmly said, "You go back and call for backup, I'll keep an eye on the situation here."

That person immediately revealed a difficult look as he said, "Mister Lin, I can't just leave you here alone, that is too dangerous. I have to follow the young master's orders."

Lin Fan revealed a frown as he said, "So you'll follow your young master's orders, but won't follow me? What if I were to tell your young master about this?"

That person's expression became even more ugly as he said, "Mister Lin, I didn't mean it like this. Please don't misunderstand me."

Lin Fan revealed a stern look as he said, "Just go back and get backup, I'll be safe here. Besides, the Nova Group doesn't even know who I am, right?"

That person gave a slow nod before saying, "That's true."

It wasn't exactly true since most of the Nova Group had already seen his picture, but Lin Fan chose not to mention this.

Finally that person gave another nod and said, "Alright, Mister Lin, please keep yourself safe. I will be back soon."

Lin Fan gave a nod as he watched that person disappear.

Once he was gone, Lin Fan opened the map and headed right along the route pointed out by it, completely breaking his promise just now.
