Chapter 103
Anna could hear Igwa's panting as he covered Oryol with his thick arms while running into the dense jungle. In the distance, she could hear screams of agony, and clashing of blades. There was also a thick, dark smoke with crimson shading rising from the house, indicating something big was burning, probably the house.
Igwa jumped from branch to branch, avoiding the slightest noise as humanly possible while trying to shush a scared, panicking child in his arms. When the tree line was too far for him to jump, the stout man would run on the forest floor while cursing.
He was hitting every thorn and jumping at every bush, making an easy trail for their attackers to find them. But he did what he could, while the tree line was too sparse for him to hide. Anna saw him rubbed his blood on the trunks of the short trees and even broke some twigs from different directions just to distract their attackers.
