Amnesia

The moment I came to, I refrained from making any rash movements. The evening sky greeted me, and the faint scent of that particular day filled my senses. It seemed I had been unconscious for several hours, or perhaps even longer.

I first touched my face, then felt around my body. The fact that I felt no pain at all was unnerving. My wounds had vanished—no surprise there—but the calm state that settled over me was strange, and not in a comforting way. Underneath the fine coating of tranquillity within me, laid a turbulent wave of chaotic uncertainty. I could not shake the feeling that something profound had transpired, something beyond my comprehension, and the realization of it sent shivers down my spine.

I was just beginning to realise it, but right before I passed out, an odd sensation had coursed through me, one that wasn't entirely unfamiliar. It had flooded my veins the moment Nile had taken her away from me.
