And now, he has one goal. To protect his new found family from the bites of the undead! *** The start of the story is slow, and I know it. But please read at least ten chapters before deciding to drop! Also, the chapters are short to maintain length and keep me from getting tired!

#2 - A Dead world

[°Tip - Zombies are classified into two groups, the Eaters and the Infectors. Beware of both of them!]

The man running towards me is actually a.. Zombie?!

"Shhhhiitttt!" I said as I turned my back to the zombie and started dashing away from it. I was running as fast as I could, but after only a few seconds of running, I looked behind and found a horde of zombies running towards me, ready for their meal.

What a situation. I shouted to that zombie first, so maybe that attracted even more of them rather than just him.

I decided not to look back again and sprinted for my dear life. But only after a minute or two of this and I could already feel my heart pumping out of my chest. My feet slowly became slow and my form of running loosened.

"D... *breathes heavily*... Dammit! I could hear them behind me. *Looks behind and sees at least 20 of them* Shit on a stick!.... Is this the end?" I said to myself.

I wanted to run away, but my legs gave in. And I stood there. Looking at my death nearing me. I closed my eyes to gather strength to run again. But when I opened them again, I saw that they reached even closer, and that stole my motivation.

Suddenly, I heard a noise. It was a helicopter again. I looked up and saw a helicopter approaching me.

"Hey there kid! Can you hear me?!" I heard someone say through a megaphone. It was a man speaking from inside the helicopter. "We are here to save you!"

The helicopter slowly lowered. I tried increasing my speed too. Although the wind from the helicopter's wings were slowing me down.

When the helicopter was low enough, a man stretched his arms towards me. I too stretched my arm while running. However, this act caused my balance to go haywire.

The window of before appeared again. It read -

[°Press 'O' to reach.]

"O? Where the hel-" As I said, another window opened on my left with the 'O' on it. But the problem is, how to press it while running?!

I decided to give it a try and punched the window. And instead of lowering my speed, punching it increased my speed. So I punched it five times and my speed was enough to reach close to the chopper.

I was about to fall when the man grabbed my arm and pulled me in. Another one came out with a gun and started shooting the zombies while the helicopter once again took off.

I sat inside, while panting. All this chase had my breathing go down the void.

"What were you doing when we announced an emergent evacuation of the town?" The man who saved me asked.

I told him that I don't remember anything before my awakening in the cafeteria.

"What is happening here anyways?" I asked him.

"You can tell by what you saw. Last night, the world was suddenly infected by a virus which is causing people to turn into these mindless fuckers, or zombies you can say. And worse, these zombies are unkillable, or so does it seem till now."

"While gunning, bombing or burning them seems to kill, it doesn't. The virus still somehow manages to survive in these situations. It hops from the body which has sustained enough damage to a body which can go for some more time. And the fact they can't feel pain adds into the problem." Another man continued.

I was offered water by one of them.

"We are from the army, tasked with evacuating every single person from this town. There are other groups like us in different places. All in all, you can say that the world... Is dead."
