CHAPTER 40 - PSYCHO MANCINI
Alina POV:
"It's quiet in the house, I guess everyone went to sleep?" I say more asking Romeo, it's a bit strange, we weren't gone that long.
"Lina, stay behind me," Romeo says scaring me slightly. He walks silently over to a panel by the wall, scans his finger and it opens revealing two guns, which he takes and loads it. Oh God, I hope he's just paranoid.
Romeo motions for me to take one and to follow him, I remove my shoes to make no sound. My heart is thumping as we make our way over to the sitting room where we can very slightly see everyone in the room looking terrified. Romeo and I lean a bit more and we see Luc, Alfonso and Jake tied up, Isabella and Sofia are sitting holding each other tears running, the men look a bit beat up. Romeo motions me that he's going to the other entrance and I nod. Isabella sees me but looks away quickly, then I look at her hand and she's pointing in front of her and I see a woman speaking in Spanish to some other man, totally unaware that we are in the house. I can't help but see she's pretty, light brown waist length hair, dark brown eyes, slim and she could be a model. I hear the woman shout, "if he's here find him! I want Romeo De Luca! I don't know what he sees in that bitch Alina, from that weak Chicago crime family!" I feel my heart thump and drop to my ass.
I spot Romeo and he shows me that he's going to enter and I should cover him. I vaguely wonder where all the security are, but I nod. "Francesca, you were looking for me?" Romeo says, and I see four other huge men come out and two of them grab him holding him and Romeo shows me to wait. My heart is pounding, I realise this is Mancini's daughter.
"Romeo, finally you're gracing me with your presence", Francesca goes to him and stands in front of him and gives him a slap, then gives him a kiss and Romeo pulls his head away in disgust. "I wanted you dead, but alas I have a way out for you, if you disagree your family will be shot one by one, and I mean they won't be breathing after this."
Romeo's father shouts, "get your filthy hands off of my son, you psycho bitch!" She walks over to him and knocks him over the temple with a gun.
"Now is that any way to talk to your future daughter in law," she spits at him. "Yes, Romeo, my father wanted my brother to marry that bitch of yours thinking he would get more control. You see my brother and him always were small minded, he did propose that we get married but my brother was too obsessed with that bitch Alina, he never really listened to me, now I'm doing what none of them had the balls to do, get the Mancini name tied to the Mafia King, you Romeo," Francesca says laughing like a lunatic.
I sit stunned. I hear a noise behind me, and I almost shoot but then I see Tino limping in trying not to make a sound, and showing me to be quiet, and I nod, he's bleeding from his side. I nod and Romeo glances at us and he looks at me apologetically and Romeo starts speaking.
"Francesca baby, you're right, I should have pushed harder. You know it's always been you right, since that one night years ago when we were seventeen, I knew it was you I wanted. You kissed me and it was love at first sight, I had to listen to my old man," she motions for the men to let Romeo go. Romeo walks over to her slowly, Isabella, Sofia, Luc and Alfonso look on in astonishment, shocked out of their wits. He takes her into his arms and I see Tino now on the other side behind Romeo and Romeo kisses her and it makes my blood boil. He has some serious fucking explaining to do, I thought he would never touch that psycho bitch and they had a thing when they were teens? He has really shit taste in women, Hillary, Julietta and now this bitch? Fucking hell, I am going to kill all of them, ok not the point right now. I nod toward Tino and we take our chance.
I move and shoot two of her men and Tino shoots the other two, Romeo pulls out his gun and holds it toward her head, I don't even want to know where he hid it. "I thought this bitch was dead!" Francesca screams.
"No bitch, I don't go down that easy," I say smirking and she breaks away from Romeo and throws herself at me knocking the gun out of my hand and me over onto the floor, she hits me in my face, and I pull her hair shoving her onto back and climb over her and I start punching her. "You bitch!" I scream. Francesca throws me over and Romeo and Tino pull her off me, because if they shoot they might hit me.
"The house is surrounded, you won't get away with it, the Mexicans are surrounding us," she says spitting at me. I shake my head.
Romeo grabs Tino's phone and dials his head security once they secure Francesca. "Javier, yes the bitch fell for it, don't worry you will get your cut. Thanks for the warning you old son of a bitch, I nearly got shot tonight along with my girl. Thank you for sparing my family, anything you need, give me a call." Romeo puts the phone down as I untie his father, Luc and Jake. Francesca looks like she's about to die on the spot realising that this was all planned.
"You see Francesca, the head of the cartel Javier Suarez made a deal with me, he knew your father, brother and how you were cheating him out of millions. He couldn't come into my territory without me knowing, so he informed me of your plan, granted I didn't expect it tonight, but I knew nonetheless this would happen. I'm the Mafia, nothing happens without me knowing, or at the very least being prepared. I knew you would hit, so I left very little security around the house the last few days and you relied on the cartel to protect you. Well, now Javier has his money and you my dear will join your family in hell and I will finally be rid of all of you," Romeo smiles.
"Fuck you Romeo!" Francesca screams.
Romeo answers calmly. "We planned this after I killed your father, Javier wanted what was his, and he asked me for a favour, and he protected my family. He has his money now and you my dear have nothing, all your businesses will be given to the Chicago Mafia," Romeo winks at me. "I am quite pissed you ruined my vacation though, but I knew you would hit us here. Bella, would you like to do the honors?" Romeo asks me.
Fancesca looks at me, and I am really no killer, but she wanted to kill me and Romeo's family, and honestly have no qualms about shooting her. "Sure," I say picking up the gun and aiming it her head and shooting. "Romeo, I'm done with your exes," I throw the gun down and I see Isabella and Sofia looking me. "Yes Isabella, I'm not as harmless as I look, I will always have your brothers back, sorry about the floor Sofia," I say and Sofia just shakes her head.
"That's going to stain, Alfonso you are buying me new tiles!" Sofia shouts at Romeo's father and we all try to hold off a laugh.
Romeo walks over to me and I see some of his men arriving to take Tino and Alfonso to the hospital and clean up the mess that is Sofia and her goons. "Lina, I'm sorry about this, let's go up to bed it's been a long night and by the looks of it, Luc and Jake are about ready to drop," Romeo says and I go over and hug Jake.
"I'm sorry about this shit trip so far," I say to Jake.
"It's ok sweetie, I just need to get over you shooting and killing someone, that's a sentence I never thought I would say," Jake says, shaking his head.
"I'm sorry, I know the men don't shoot women and I was the only one who could," I shrug.
"I can't believe I'm not more freaked out about this, but I need to drink and go sleep," Jake says and I nod. I see Luc speaking to some of the men and Romeo, and he takes Luc's hand and they disappear. Romeo and I start walking and Isabella stops us.
"Alina?" Isabella says softly.
"Yes?" I answer, not in the mood for her attitude again.
"Thank you for being there for Romeo and I'm sorry you had to do that. Mamma and me were never comfortable with guns, but I see the world even better now that we live in, what you have to put up with, that takes strength. What I'm trying to say is, it's a lot and I am sorry for everything, I wish I had even quarter of your courage and strength," Isabella says and I give her a hug, guess she really means it.
"I will always protect the family, even if I'm not a De Luca, I already see you all as my family and I will do the same for any of you not just Romeo. Thank you Isabella," I say sincerely, she walks off with her mom to take the drive to the hospital to meet Alfonso there.
Romeo walks me upstairs and to our bedroom. "I'm sorry Lina," Romeo says as we get there.
"When were you going to tell me?" I ask Romeo, slightly pissed at the entire situation, I never wanted to shoot anyone again after my father, but it's one more thing I had to do tonight and I have conflicting emotions about it all.
"Which part? That I met Francesca years ago at a gala? I didn't know who she was at the time, I was seventeen. Or that she and the Mexican cartel would attack?" Romeo says slight annoyed.
"Both, so I could have been prepared," I say exasperated.
"Well just as I said, Francesca is ancient news, nothing more happened, after she kissed me I left and forgot about her, she wasn't anything to me, and quite frankly I didn't want to kiss her at all. I didn't even remember it was her till tonight. As for the other things," Romeo takes a breath and we sit down on the bed. "I had to keep this quiet and we just got back together, I didn't want to burden you right now, I had a feeling she might attack here, which was suicidal, I admit. I made deals with the cartel to just to cover my bases after Javier came to me and spoke to me a few months ago after you left, and he kept me informed. He said it might happen here so I dropped security and he provided men. She would never have gotten close to killing any of you anyway, they would have stopped it. You have to understand Alina, I can't reveal all of my plans with every illegal action I take, I have to make sure we are all protected and the less any one person knows the better," Romeo explains.
"Romeo, as much as I understand, it doesn't mean I have to like it, but I do accept it. I know how this world works, so the Mancini line is over now?" I ask considering she was the last of them.
"I am sure there will be distant family or even close family to them that might want to rise. I have taken measures to ensure that it won't happen, the legit businesses will go to your family, the illegal side will be run by our family and cleaned up so there's no child prostitution and your brother Dimitri and even Gio will oversee most of it, for me. I have been speaking to him since we got the ball rolling on all of this," Romeo says apologetically, I sigh and just accept it, Gio didn't even tell me what was happening and he's the closest to me. "Security is up again, and we should have no more problems here for the rest of the week, we can finally really enjoy the vacation. I do have business tomorrow, just a meeting and then we can go check out the hotel and casino here, would you like that bella?" Romeo asks hopefully.
"I would, I need something, anything to keep me from thinking about the fact that I killed another person beside my father," I say shrugging. Romeo pulls me too him and holds me close.
"I'm sorry baby, I hope to never have you on that situation again, but you know this life can be unpredictable", Romeo says apologetically.
"I know, I'm fine, I just have to learn to live with it, if we want to be together, I have to be able to live this life," I say with a weak smile. "Let's get showered. I need sleep," I say with a yawn. Romeo agrees and we head to the bathroom and have a hot shower just being close to each other. Before we sleep Romeo checks on his father and he's fine and on his way home and he calls my brother and Javier to make sure everything is still fine and in place. Once we are at ease we lay back on each other's arms and I feel Romeo finally go to sleep. I sigh and let my mind wander.
My final thought being, I love you Romeo, and it's forever.
