127 Chapter 127: I'm Superman, Their Hope

Washington, D.C.

Location: Hall of Justice.

This area is more thoroughly devastated than ruins. Every brick and lightweight brick of the hall has been shattered, and the stubborn steel bars standing on the foundation have been torn apart by violent force, breaking into dozens or even thousands of pieces.

Within a radius of one kilometer from the Hall of Justice, all the houses have suffered from concentrated collapse, being lifted and revealing the cracked and sunken ground.

Dust fills the air, shrouding this area of destruction caused by a sudden attack. The many international personnel working in coordination with the Justice League in this office emit cries of agony as survivors.

"My leg... My leg!"

"Help me, save me! A stone pierced my lung."

"I don't want to die. Isn't this supposed to be the safest place? I don't want to die..."

"Did aliens invade? They destroyed Earth's hope."

"Sob... sob... It hurts, it hurts..."

"Save me, Superman! Where are you? Save me, save me..."

"Justice League, where are you? Come and save me! I don't want to die!"

Steve Trevor climbed out of the jeep that was thrown by residual shockwaves. His eyes were dazed, his ears were ringing, and all around him were the sounds of wailing and screaming. All the personnel from various countries near the Hall of Justice had suffered unjust disaster.

He had originally been on his way to the Hall of Justice as the liaison commander for the Argus Society and the U.S. government, preparing to discuss the issue of deploying the Earth Defense Corps, a multinational organization formed to prevent alien invasions.

However, when he approached the Hall of Justice, he saw Superman in the sky being attacked head-on by a black figure. The catastrophic disaster concentrated on the Hall of Justice, causing the jeep he was riding in to be thrown into the air, leaving him in a dazed state.

Thanks to his good physical fitness as a military man, he was only tossed by the shockwaves and suffered no significant injuries apart from feeling his insides churn like a knot and experiencing discomfort in his stomach. After crawling out of the jeep, he took a deep breath and still felt his head in a foggy state.

Steve Trevor squinted his eyes, his head in a daze, and the sounds of screams resounded incessantly in his ears, constantly surrounding him.

They were in a pitiful state, with severed hands and feet, internal organs pierced by stones, and most of them suffering severe injuries that made it difficult for them to move easily.

In Steve Trevor's confused state, it seemed as if he saw Washington, D.C., the bustling capital of the peaceful United States, turned into a battlefield reminiscent of the Middle East.

Was this really a peaceful city?

It was even more devastating than a Middle Eastern battlefield.

"What happened...?"

Steve Trevor's face was bewildered as he walked and fanned away the swirling dust with his hand. Through his hazy vision, he abruptly saw a blurry black figure, arrogantly and coldly treading on something unknown, like a supreme ruler trampling upon everything, or a demonic god from the depths of the abyss stepping onto this planet.

His muddled thoughts instantly cleared, as if ice-cold water flowed through every train of thought, making him recall the scene of Superman being attacked head-on by the black figure.

Steve Trevor's body trembled, his eyes resolute. He bent his waist slightly, his hand resting on the M9 pistol holstered at his thigh, assuming a combat stance like a leopard, and steadfastly stared at the demonic black figure in the hazy dust.

The nanomachines began to enter H'el's eye blood vessels, activating the astronomical magnifying glass. Immediately, the fair skin around H'el's eyes revealed fierce blue veins.

He opened his penetrating gaze, microscopic vision, and looked at the blood at the corner of Superman's mouth, beginning to record the genetic information of the life codex contained within him.

All the genetic information of Krypton is stored in the life codex, and the life codex was transmitted into Kal-El by Jor-El.

"Jor-El, you're ruthless..."

H'el saw the powerful genetic factors in Kal's body, which included and perfectly coordinated Kal-El's physical attributes.

The life codex and the genes support the basic structure and performance of his life.

It contains all the information about Kryptonian life, including race, blood type, reproduction, talents, growth, and death processes.

It is an inseparable component, and the life codex does not exist in the physical form within Kal-El's body. It has become the fundamental information that constructs Kal-El as a living being.

Because Jor-El, in the early stages when his son had not yet formed an embryo, transmitted the life codex into the sperm and egg that would combine to form Kal, and then underwent natural birth.

He may not care about Kal-El's life, but the life codex is practically impossible to extract completely.

Jor-El went through great efforts for the sake of his son.

H'el's face turned cold, looking unpleasant, with the veins around his eyes making him look like a demon, relentlessly looking down on Superman.

In the haze, Superman, who had lost control, heard the cries for help from the injured people around him.

Someone was begging for help.

Someone was in pain.

Someone was injured.

They need me!

Superman's consciousness seemed to gather countless threads of silk scattered together and, with a resolute will, he recovered, his hazy eyes focusing and turning intense blue with anger.

"I am Superman, their hope!!" Superman's furious eyes, like a lake of intense blue, blood staining his fair teeth, his muscles tensed, and the large arteries under H'el's feet stiffened.

His proud, intense blue lake-like eyes began to gather a fiery red gaze.

But they hadn't shot out yet.

H'el raised his foot, and in an instant, Superman, who had gained freedom, felt like a drowning person taking his last breath of air. The blood transported by the major arteries flowed even faster, helping him recover his body. The heat vision in his eyes reached its peak.

"Boom!"

H'el simply stomped his foot, stepping into Superman's chest. The "S" on Superman's chest immediately caved in, and the tremendous force caused his chest to sink in, with his sternum piercing into his organs. The white bones next to the ribs protruded with blood vessels, puncturing through the flesh and skin, revealing horrifying and bone-chilling bone spurs.

Superman's eyes dimmed, and the intense heat in his eyes dissipated. The tremendous pain in his chest and his body could no longer support his anger. He was heavily stomped and vomited blood, his body crushed into a shrimp-like shape, embedding into the ground, his eyes rolling white.

A powerful explosion and shockwave spread once again from the center. Steve Trevor was lifted by the shockwave and crashed into a wall with exposed steel bars. The steel bars pierced his abdomen, causing him intense pain. He stared with shocked eyes towards the epicenter.

The dust scattered by the impact revealed H'el's grimacing face, with veins bulging, in an unforgiving pose as he trampled on Superman's chest.

The surrounding cries and screams ceased to exist after the impact.

Cyborg, Wonder Woman, the Batwing, and Green Lantern arrived from the distant sky, standing tall in the air, looking at H'el.

Aquaman rode the waves, a waterspout rising from the harbor, stepping on the waterspout and arrived. He held his trident, standing on the waterspout, looking down at H'el.

The Flash dashed from a distant street corner, leaving a lightning-shaped trail, and arrived at this shattered wasteland in an instant, staring at Superman in disbelief.
