All Over Again

"W-What? What is the meaning of this?" I tried to keep my composure… what gave it away? What did I do wrong? How did they know?!

W-What do I do now? S-Shoot! M-My plans have never failed before…

My right hand reached to forge a weapon as if it was second nature, but I stopped myself before the spell completed. Has it been burnt into me that violence can solve my problems? It has always worked…

Do I really feel nothing if I have to take these people's lives just to escape? What kind of monster am I? I only killed to keep that stupid raven safe… but this has nothing to do with Hiroto…

I can't just kill them for no reason… I clenched my fist to stop myself, my nails pierced through my skin making me bleed. Even so, the pain was so minor that I only noticed it when my hand felt the blood.

Shin took a glance at what I was doing and raised up his hand to surrender. Not knowing what to do, I followed suit. The guards slowly moved in to put me in shackles then separated us. Damn it! Was it my uniform? Did that guard have a lie detector?

My p-plans… it's never been wrong… h-how… w-why… I don't get it…

As my mind struggles to find the answers to millions of questions I had. I didn't realize I passed out. Maybe… I'm starting to go numb from that feeling emptiness… dread. I was screaming but it hurts less somehow… I almost saw the dying person's face, but I woke up… again.

I find myself chained onto a chair in a dark room with only small rays of the sun piercing through what seemed to be a glass roof hastily covered by a piece of cloth. I felt a slight sting coming from my cheeks, but it wasn't a big deal.

A presence… in front of me. In the shadows.

"Where am I?" I asked the human hidden within the darkness.

"Still have the energy to speak? I can assure you the torture you just experienced is the most painful we have to offer." It was the voice of a woman… although she wasn't in sight I could tell she was grinning by the tone of her voice.

"Torture?" I barely felt a thing…

"Oh, there's no need to play tough with me. No matter how strong you get, you're still breakable."

"Sorry, miss. Can't really break what's already broken eh?" My hands steadily regained its strength as I tried breaking the silver chains. I only need her distracted… I'm sure I can break a simple chain.

"Maybe you need another round to drop the act" She seemed frustrated for some reason. Does she want to piss me off or something?

Suddenly the room smelt burnt, but all I felt was annoying itches around my body. My muscles tensed up a bit… guess this would've hurt a lot if this was my first experience being tortured. Now it's just annoying.

"Are we done yet? It's itchy and it's annoying" I complained out loud.

"I have to hand it to you… your will is strong alright…"

Wow, I'm so scared! Bet that was electricity. Although I'd love to know more about lightning benders, it's really getting annoying. I slipped my hands off the chains and prepared to flee, but then I heard a familiar voice.

"Amber Holmes,"

"Hey! S-Sir long time no see. How've you been?" I smiled, not being able to remember him.

"It seems you've forgotten your place, lowly HERO. Let's skip the formalities since such things are BENEATH one such as I and get to the point. The heroes have been… chaotic lately. We want all of you to be under the nobility's control and we need you, the representative, to do the job. Of course, you can refuse. Although, It'd be such a shame if you assisted Shin in his assassination."

Oh, I remember you now! You're that noble with a big ego we saw on our first day!

Blackmail on me? Oh, I'll kill you before you can ever spread a word! I impulsively opened my mouth to counter his threat, but I restrained myself from doing something I'd regret. I closed my eyes and stayed silent.

I felt the shock again with some light hits on my face while that noble kept blabbering about something. I blocked his voice out a few minutes ago… it's so boring… I'd rather slee-

I woke up again finding myself surrounded by dirty brick walls. The chains clashed against the walls and dragged around the floor. The light of the sun shined through the small bars. Before I knew it… I was in a cage again. My hands shook, my head ached and my breathing intensified.

"Welcome to the hell you put me through, Amber" Shin sat on a large metal plate held up by chains across from me, smiling as if it was sweet vengeance.

I tried to stop my trembling but to no avail. I couldn't stop shaking. "My plan didn't work," I mumbled repetitively. The bricks look so familiar… did that bastard import a human-made brick just to make me feel homely? How NICE OF HIM…

"You better pray for safety because you have no idea how it feels to be starved and left with only yourself," Shin grinned.

"I don't believe in God or gods… in my darkest hour, I begged, I prayed and I promised that if fate would let me out I would become a good person but guess what? They don't exist." The hopelessness and bitterness I held in my heart were shown…

H-Hiroto... where are you?

I… I can't be vulnerable…

"I was alright of course, but I'm still a terrible person eh?" I brushed it off as arrogance… it's the easiest way to hide the trauma after all, right?

Suddenly the cage opened to throw a girl inside our cell. She was extremely pale, almost sickly and she was extremely scrawny…

Her long bleach blonde hair was everywhere even covering her face. Even though her face couldn't be seen… I… I think I know who it is! I… c-can't believe it!

I smiled uncontrollably even hurting my cheeks while doing it, but it's her!

"F-Fay!"
