98 Chapter 95: Trial

"So uh, officer. How's your fine ass doing today?" Lars asked Shakti and Tione bristled. Because Shakti had that light-skinned stare.

"Uh, excuse me?" Shakti blinked dumbly at Lars, he was too damned calm.

"Sorry, let me rephrase that." Lars said and Shakti nodded, thinking he fucking should.

"Howdy, you lookin' like a snack. What's the occassion?" Lars shocked her once again and Shakti shook her head incredulously.

"You do know that we will be talking to a god for your statements, right? Maybe whole pantheons too." Shakti looked at him weirdly.

He has balls of fucking steel. "Well, why would I be afraid of them? They're just asking a few questions here and there." Lars shrugged.

But honestly, he would be much more nervous if he can't lie to the gods.

"Okay... But stop calling me that." Shakti huffed at him.

"What? You look great." Lars wiggled his eyebrows and she was embarrassed at his blatant flirting.

"What are you? 17? I'm like in my mid 30's." Shakti rolled her eyes at him.

"Huh? Gods are millions of years old, yet they enter relationships with humans." Lars snorted and Shakti has nothing for that.

"Well... They're gods?" Shakti can't do anything better than that.

"Whatever you say. Let's have a few drinks after this." Lars chuckled as he looked at Ganesha.

They will most likely be talking more as an allied force later. And because Shakti is the captain, she'll learn of Monstro's true origins and strength sooner than later.

Everyone then arrived at Babel and a few gods were there to interrogate Lars.

"Silence." Ouranos spoke and their mumblings stopped.

Lars saw Hestia, Artemis, Hephaestus, Demeter, and Astraea though.

"Oi, oi, oi, how do you plead?" Loki walked up to him like a gangster as she asked him with a grin. Thinking that she'll get answers from him.

"I evict the 5th." Lars raised his hand and they were confused as hell.

Airmid smacked her face. "He means that he won't talk unless he has a lawyer as anything can be used against him."

She explained and he taught it to everyone as well. Because gods would really use your lies against you. There's no lying in front of them after all.

"Then who will step up to be Lars' lawyer?" Ouranos almost groaned at his weirdness.

"I will do so." Hestia raised her hand as she is a neutral party. Just recently arriving in gekai.

"Hestia huh? Then go on and stand beside him." Ouranos ordered and Hestia stood beside him.

"What the hell did you do? This is big, the gods haven't had a mortal go through a trial in centuries." Hestia whispered to him.

"Oh, this and that. Don't worry about it." Lars shrugged.

"First is the plaintiffs, Freya and Loki. Start with your questions." Ouranos didn't really want to entertain them, but they were the ones that got attacked by the xenos.

Even though they were the ones who started it.

"Why are you trying to raise intelligent monsters?" Loki asked as she was curious about the reason.

"We aren't raising them, we're taking them in. We call them the xenos, they're intelligent monsters that reincarnated. And the dungeon deems them an enemy too." Lars answered.

The gods whispered and Loki was surprised that he said the truth.

And even without his divinity that invalidated their lie detection, it is the truth.

"Then what about that humanoid monster that is approximately level 10? She's definitely on the level of the Leviathan and Behemoth." Freya asked.

"Oh, that's Ley-chan. My sparring partner. A cadmus dragon that evolved to what she is now." Lars shrugged and they were gobsmacked.

'So that woman wasn't a xenos!?' Ouranos and Hermes were surprised by that information.

If Ley wasn't a xenos, she developed intelligence on her lonesome. So she's definitely more dangerous than the Leviathan and Behemoth.

"And what of Alfia? Gareth and Riveria said that she suddenly appeared. The whole world thought that the Zeus and Hera familia is wiped out." Loki squinted her eyes.

The balance of Orario's power will be overturned with Alfia in the mix. That's what they thought inside of their heads.

"Objection! Ouranos, hearsay!" Hestia objected and she gave Lars a thumbs up.

'Wow, she actually used it correctly.' Lars was impressed. He thought that Hestia's brain was in her boobs.

"Sustained." Ouranos nodded and Loki glared at Hestia.

"Oi, you loli! Where did you learn that?" Loki huffed at her.

"Argumentative your honor!" Hestia looked at Astraea and the brunette nodded with a smile.

They already planned for Hestia to become his representative because the gods would be too biased.

And she would be perfect for it too. Because Hestia just descended.

"Sustained, stop it Loki." Ouranos gave her a stern look and she winced.

"Damned chibi, where did she learn that?" Loki grumbled.

"I saw her appear while I hid. Are you related to Alfia?" Freya unfortunately saw her. Unlike Loki who was retreating.

"She's the one who trained me." Lars answered and they now knew why he was so strong.

Well, in truth. It was only a fraction of the reason why.

"But how did she live? The Astraea familia and some members of the Loki familia said that she fell down the deep floors in a fiery end?" Freya was genuinely curious.

"Well, believe it or not. I live inside the dungeon when I was a kid. And Alfia fell on my log cabin. I then healed her up." Lars reminisced those times.

'What!? Is he like Ais? A child of the dungeon?' Loki bit her nails. Thinking that must be the reason why he was so strong.

He's blessed by the spirits. And maybe, just maybe. A child of one, a strong one like Jupiter.

'Just what are the mysteries surrounding you, Lars?' Loki got more and more interested in him.

"Back to that humanoid monster then... Is she under your control?" Ganesha was the one who asked.

As the familia that specialized in tames, he knows that monsters need to be beaten down to the ground before being tamed.

And they're still extremely dangerous even after the fact.

"Ley's a different topic, she's her own person. She's extremely intelligent, but ignorant of the logic of society. But if you don't attack her, she won't attack you." Lars explained.

He then hoped that Ganesha would back him up on that.

"That's true, even tamed monsters would leave everyone alone unless you attack them." Ganesha nodded.

"But what if it goes on a rampage? It's still a monster." Apollo chimed in with a slimy look in his face.

"We have to regulate it, chain it down. Who knows what it will do when unsupervised?" Apollo raised and it was an extremely good point.

"Objection! Speculation, Ouranos." Hestia nodded at herself, pleased with her answer.

She then looked at some flash cards to check all the things she could say.

"Sustained, we do not have enough information about this Ley. But based on the facts, it followed the defendant's orders and did not attack the Freya and Loki familia with fatal blows." Ouranos agreed.

"Fatal!? It tried to blow Orario to kingdom come! Even Melen felt the explosion on the skies of Orario. And it was just one breath attack of hers!" Ishtar bristled.

All her hard work as a whore would've unraveled in that single moment, so she was quite furious.

"We should give the monster to one of the familias, that way. We will be able to make sure that it won't receive orders from them." Apollo had a sleazy expression on his face.

After all, Ley looked exotic. With her light-purple skin. And her appearance that surpasses even the goddesses.

'This guy, you're going to have a beatdown later.' Lars squinted his eyes.

"Uhhh, what's that again?" Hestia started to check all of her flash cards.

"Objection, speculation." Hestia was especially against Apollo. With him trying to get in her pants for thousands upon thousands of years.

"Sustained." Ouranos nodded and Hestia almost revealed a smug grin on her face.

"I'd like to offer her shelter in our familia. The Hephaestus familia is a smithing familia. We have no use of Ley in dungeon diving. We already dominate the market too." Hephaestus raised her hand.

"I will also check up on her from time to time. Checking if she really is a non-violent being." Ganesha chimed in.

"Agree, Ganesha is more knowledgeable about monster taming than anyone else. And the Freya or Loki familia didn't stand a chance against her. All the other familias wouldn't as well." Hermes nodded.

'Nice job team.' Lars grinned as he looked down on the ground.

"What of the so-called xenos though? They're obviously armed and armored. They're the private military of the Demeter familia." Dionysus doesn't want to make it easy for them.

"We arm them to protect the dungeon crops that Lars and the others cultivate." Demeter answered and she gave him a side-eye.

'You don't have any cards here, Dionysus.' Demeter squinted her eyes.

"There has been no reports of adventurers being attacked by monsters that are armed with human-made weapons. The guild would have heard rumors about it if that was the case." Ouranos nodded and was thankful.

Monstro has been keeping to themselves really well. Which proved fruitful right now.

"Then this trial is over. Lars Johansson and Demeter are proven innocent. The Freya and Loki familia will be fined for antagonizing an S-rank familia. That is all." Ouranos finished and he stood up.

Freya took it in stride, more interested about the mysteries that surrounded Lars.

But Loki groaned. "Ahh! I can't buy Soma wine now! I have to pay a massive fine!" Loki complained.

Lars wasn't fooled though, Loki will come back with more questions. This time, personally.

The other gods were still wary of the Demeter familia though.

They were obviously in cahoots with Astraea. And they rival the top familias.

"Oh, Tione and Tiona are level 6 now." Lars smirked and he bowed at the gods, giving them a cheeky smile.

__Wheat manor__

Lars sat down on the couch and he sighed deeply.

"How will this change everything, I wonder?" He thought of the changes that will inevitably happen.

Monstro would definitely need a lot of time before it will be accepted as normal by society.

Monsters are stronger than humans and that's a fact. Even though they don't have falnas.

And a humanoid monster that is as strong as the 3 grand quests barring the black dragon, appearing. It will send the other countries to an uproar.

"Other countries will start to dip their hands on this." Lars ruffled his hair in annoyance.

"You did well." Demeter sat down beside him and he sighed.

"I guess, but it would've been much better if Ley didn't suddenly appear." Demeter chuckled at that.

"We are quite lucky that Ouranos is on our side. They would definitely chain down Ley without him." Demeter sighed in relief.

"Yeah, quick thinking on them being out guard for our crops too. That was splendid." Lars smiled.

"Why thank you, I pride myself in being crafty." Demeter giggled.

"Hey, I killed Ikelos." Lars dropped out of the blue and Demeter blinked.

She then lifted his shirt and put a drop of her blood on his back.

"Aren't you gonna buy me dinner first?" Lars chuckled.

"Stop being silly, how did it go?" Demeter asked as she checked for any changes.

Lars explained and Demeter frowned, especially on who appeared.

"That's Athena. And she functions on cold, pure, logic." Demeter remembered that she is pretty strong as well.

If Artemis is the archer of heaven, then Athena is the supreme goddess of war. The patron goddess of heroes and mages.

"Her prowess on battles and wars is on par with her wisdom and intelligence." Demeter explained.

"Then I guess we need to travel to Altena to have good relations." Lars sighed.

"You going to try and seduce Athena? What a crazy bastard." Demeter laughed.

She is a celestial virgin goddess for a reason. If Artemis is a romance and man hater.

Then Athena is basically a robot that is not programmed to even think about love or sex. She does not care about it one single bit.

"I'm a man of action, I'll try." Lars smirked and Demeter sighed.

"Your Superbia skill activated by the way." Demeter wrote it down.

Superbia: Pride like no other gives birth to an invincible monster that rejects the laws of the world. As long as the host believes that everything is beneath him, it will not work.

Requires immense will and emotions in order to function.

"Shit, that's overpowered as hell. Even stronger than Avaritia." Lars blinked.

"Don't go trying to think you're invulnerable though. I don't want you to pick fights with gods." Demeter warned him.

"Yes, yes~" Lars nodded. "Hmph, I can already tell that you'll use it as much as possible." Demeter pouted at him.

"I won't put myself in circumstances that will need it. I still have to make a world for us to live peacefully." Lars hugged her and Demeter leaned into him.

"Hmm... How about you try your moves on a goddess before trying to seduce Athena, big boy?" Demeter's fuwa fuwa atmosphere suddenly changed.

"Ahhh, I can't possibly refuse a goddess' feminine wiles." Lars kissed her neck and she hummed, exciting him to no end.

"We will continue this in the next chapter." Demeter pointed at the bed.
