Unexpected

Dawn headed out the next day to gather up herbs as that was the only thing she could use in keeping herself busy when her grandfather was resting.

She checked on Derrick before going out. She hummed silently as she walked deeper into the forest. She had spent the entire day picking herbs.

She was more than glad she had at least prepared her grandfather's meal before leaving the house.

It was starting to get dark, and she quickly made to get back. She knew her way round the forest, even in the dark, but she still needs to be with her grandfather.

"Grandpa. I'm back." She called out, dropping the basket filled with leaves of varying colours and shapes.

"Have you eaten anything yet?" She questioned when she met him reading a newspaper in his room.

"You're back already? I was thinking you would have a sleep over with the trees in the forest." Her grandfather said, looking at her over his newspaper.
