Arc 2: Learn, Adapt, Kill - Chapter 18
"I'm surprised you didn't ask me for any of the natives to become your sex slaves, Jin." Makima stared at me, causing Shouko to stare back at me with her cute eyes.
At the same time, Ruby was still going crazy from all the sacrifices she was getting and Weiss tried to calm her down, failing for the last few hours before giving up and helping her out instead. She even goes so far as to help Ruby by listing which specific targets for sacrifice could potentially give her the best in profit.
"Well, I could have, but I don't think it's a good idea." I answered the unspoken question.
"Why not? Isn't it every man's dream to have a harem full of beautiful women?" Makima has her hands behind her back as she leans into my face.
"Nyarla. Yor. Takamine. Yui. You. Shouko. Ruby. Weiss. That's a total of eight right now. Excluding Ruby and Weiss. I can barely keep up with all five of you girls. And once Ruby and Weiss get closer to everyone's fitness level. I will be worn down to the bone and die, then resurrected and die again until everyone is satisfied. So there's no point in having sex slaves when I'm already exhausted beyond my limit many times." I gave Makima a dull look.
"Sorry..." Shouko whispered to me, giving me a sad look that only made my heart ache.
Damn, she is good. Ah... Wait, my heart really does hurt! What the fuck?!
I look away, and to my disbelief, the pain in my heart slowly disappears. Holy fuck, Shouko's sad face can cause heart damage!
Then again, I suppose it should be a given at this point. Heck, Ruby and Weiss will also get there too, or somewhere in the future, the Eldritch pantheon will give them 'upgrades' to make them average among the members.
"It's okay, Shouko." I pat her head and avoid staring at her for too long when she is unstable.
As funny as it sounds, she is supposed to be the one to 'fix' my unstable mindset. Well, she must have her methods to make it happen and when to use them.
Then, out of nowhere, Ophis moved into my vision, still in her snake form.
"Who are you to my master?" Ophis gave me a death stare, or at least I think it's a death stare. It's hard to tell because Ophis doesn't even show any emotions I can sense with En.
"Calm down now, Ophis. He is my caretaker and my lover." Makima replied before I could.
Also, lover?! Although she calls me as caretaker before lover, crazy voices.
"My lover too..." Shouko hugs me.
I forgot, but I don't remember anything in the contract about taking on the role of lover for the girls I care for as a caretaker. I have a feeling I'm going to get a secondary identity in the Eldritch pantheon as a lover, because if so, I'm going to have to find a way to get that removed. Because there's no way I'm going to be a lover to men as well. Even in the Eldritch pantheon, there are very few of the male gender. I'm straight, not gay, not bisexual.
"Right... So, does anyone need to stay in this world for anything else, or should we move on?" I ask everyone; well, mostly Makima and Shouko, since Ruby and Weiss are too busy sacrificing pretty much everyone closest to them.
"Not really." Makima replies as she pushes Ophis' head down.
Shouko shakes her head.
I stare at the main characters nearby, who have this dead look on their faces as they give up on everything due to being unable to do anything as they watch everyone being sacrificed by Ruby.
Crazy voices, I just realized something. It seems that Highschool DxD is known among those who travel the multiverse, and if I were to guess, there should be characters from Highschool DxD who can travel the multiverse as well. But they don't seem to have much contact with those in Makima and Shouko's circle of friends and family.
Otherwise, Makima and Shouko wouldn't let Ruby sacrifice everyone in this world except for Ophis, who is Makima's pet.
On the other hand, with Highschool DxD's powers and stuff, it would be weird not to be known throughout the multiverse.
"Alright." I nod, "Hey, Ruby! Weiss! Time for us to go!"
"But I just started!" Ruby whines as she points to those still on their knees. Just waiting to die, none of them had been able to break free, nor had they been able to say a single word all this time. "And look! I have so much good stuff!" She points to the small pile of stuff she got from sacrificing all the magicians first, valuable books about magic itself and materials used to perform certain types of magic.
"Don't worry, Ruby." Makima spoke before I could, even teleporting everyone back to the temporary world she created before coming here, and then handed Ruby a small red marble. "The world is in here. You can sacrifice it all at once, or take your time and sacrifice one of the natives inside, one at a time."
What the fuck...
"Wait, wouldn't it be better to take everything important out of it before giving it to me? I mean, like all the powers?" Ruby looked at Makima in shock and disbelief at the unexpected gift.
Even Weiss, standing off to the side, is in a state of shock, but it doesn't take long for her to snap out of it.
"Not really. Most of the time when someone of my status creates a world like this. 99% of the stuff and natives inside are worthless outside of that world once they are taken out. Often, the worlds created are always based on existing worlds; the only thing worth creating these worlds is the chance to produce fate's chosen ones. And they are very special and must be taken before others can. Reasons I will not tell you, for you are not ready to know them." Makima pokes Ruby in the nose with a smile on her face.
"How often do you create worlds, or is someone of your status capable of creating endless worlds?" Weiss asks Makima.
This makes me secretly praise Weiss for asking. But suddenly, I feel that I've heard this before, and my head starts to hurt. Strange.
"Not too many. Or rather, I don't have the ability to create an infinite number of worlds with the snap of my fingers. I'm just saying that those with the same status as me have that kind of result when they create worlds through a unique method that is shared by a certain group. That's why I don't feel it's a big loss for me to give Ruby this world. After all, it's based on this compared to others. The quality is very low." Makima chuckled. "That's why not many are willing to create so many worlds, because it's pointless with the low success rate in producing fate's chosen ones. It is not worth the resources and the effort. Plus, most of the time, the world destroys itself somehow instead of being reset."
It kind of makes sense in a stupid, bizarre way. It explains why the Freezing world was reset back then. It also makes me wonder if someone with the same status as Makima or higher created that Freezing world.
"My brain hurts." Ruby smiled, not caring that she didn't understand much about what Makima had just said.
Don't worry, Ruby. My brain hurts too, but for a different reason.
"Wait, does that mean your...uh, pet. Is a fate's chosen one?" Weiss asks Makima as she stares at Ophis with furrowed brows, showing her confusion and curiosity.
"Yup." Makima smiles and gently strokes Ophis' head. "Enough talk about this subject. It's too early for you to know about it. Just wait until your pantheon decides to send you to school to learn about it. No use me telling you when the teachers at school can teach you better than I ever could."
"Wait, school?" Weiss tilts her head back in confusion. "Uh, can I get the name of the school I might attend in the future?"
"It's just called a school. And yes, the school where everyone that belongs to important pantheons would send their members to gain a higher level of existing knowledge to make it easier to move freely in the multiverse." Makima replied.
Oh, it's good to know that the school still exists and that many other entities are attending. Does anyone else have a headache trying to understand what the fuck is going on? Just me? All right.
"Is Jin going to school with us?" Ruby held my left hand anxiously, looking ready to reject the idea of going to school, even though it might help her, in the long run, to prepare for her journey in the multiverse.
"No idea. I'm not part of the Eldritch pantheon. They have a completely different system. Jin may or may not join you and Weiss at the school when the time comes." Makima shrugs. "For all we know, he could be part of the group that goes with the students to help them with their studies. I know other pantheons have their own caretakers. Jin is just the only successful one in the Eldritch pantheon, which is huge for everyone else."
Right, I almost forgot that I'm very special. I still haven't decided if that's a good thing or not.
"But that's something we shouldn't talk about right now. Right now, Jin is on trial and until he passes it. The whole school thing is not something to talk about." Makima continued.
Then why talk about it at all? Is it because I don't know anything about it? Or is it because Ruby and Weiss will have a better identity than me that made you talk about it? Is that it, Makima?
"I don't want to go if Jin isn't there." Ruby mumbles as her grip becomes stronger.
Yikes, yandere is forming, a big red flag! I better take care of this soon or wait for Perfect Timing to help me because I don't know shit about preventing a potential yandere from forming.
"Wait, before we change the subject or go to another world." Weiss quickly jumped back into the conversation before it could end. "What is the timeframe of how long until we attend this school? Do we stay until we graduate? Or do we have the option of dropping out?"
"Well, I shouldn't say, but there's no rule preventing others from finding out about it. Former students or not." Makima taps her chin, then looks at me and grins. "How about this: you watch Shouko and me having sex with Jin without you and Ruby masturbating until the end. And I tell you the timeframe for attending the school, deal?"
That's fuck up. But, I am not saying no, though.
"Wh-What's wrong with you?! Why would you ask for something like that?!" Weiss' face turned red within seconds.
"She accepts!" Ruby covers Weiss's mouth. "You need to experience what I felt when you and Jin had sex when I couldn't be there."
Weiss tried to say something but could not remove Ruby's hand from her mouth. So, all she could do was glare at Ruby.
"Lovely." Makima didn't care that Ruby had agreed to the deal, not Weiss, who wanted to know. "Let's shake on it."
Seriously, what the fuck is going on? My life is just getting weirder and weirder. But, hey. Sex with two beautiful women isn't something I'm going to say no to.
