Rematch

One week later an unnamed canyon had various ballistae and cannons dotting it's walls and two tall wood and metal reinforced wall blocking off the middle of it. At the top of this wall stood a large dragon covered in smooth shiny blackened metal except it's head that had a red star shaped mark and two saber-like horns under it. The final preparations for the siege on zorah magdaros were just getting finished up which was not a very time consuming task since it mostly involved double checking the armaments. Alex had been instructed to wait at the top of the wall to ensure that he was in tip top shape.

One of the scholars who were also here to conduct research on zorah should they succeed in capturing it had taken inspiration from Alex's magnificent figure and began to carefully draw out his form. The metal armor that covered Alex made this much easier than it would have been otherwise due to his many highly detailed scales. The scholar had already titled the picture at the bottom of the page as {The guardians vigil} , not that Alex knew since if he did he might physically cringe at the title.

Still it was a very flattering portrait of him even if it lacked any real color at the moment since all the paint had been left in astera , for obvious reasons. Just like the scholars predicted right as the sun began to rise every scout fly at the fortifications flew far into the distance while glowing blue. The massive blue cloud of insects suddenly turned red before returning as the stone ground of that area cracked and shattered as zorah burrowed out of the underground shaft. The commander started barking out orders while Alex launched himself off the side of the first barricade.

Alex unceremoniously snatched up Zain from the fortifications and flew rapidly towards the mountainous elder in the distance. At first Zain struggled but when he saw where they were headed he settled down and got serious. Zorah paid much more attention to Alex this time since he now truly seemed like another elder dragon if suspiciously weak. Before even when Alex tricked it into ripping off a large piece of it's flesh beard the elder merely considered him an annoyance , now he was a considered a much bigger annoyance.

This seems like not much progress but keep in mind this zorah was at it's most powerful right now so gaining even a little more recognition from it was very impressive. If before Zorah attacked Alex to punish him now it launched huge balls of magma at him as a warning. Zain was glad that he didn't get motion sickness easily because Alex's flight pattern had turned erratic in order to dodge the giant globs of magma. Zorah was left fairly helpless when Alex flew behind it and landed on it's back with Zain. Much like a turtle zorah simply could not reach most of it's own back meaning Alex and Zain were basically unimpeded now.

Immediately after landing the two split up with Zain circling around the outside of the back mountain to get at the magma core in the gap of the elders stony shell. Alex meanwhile wasted no time at all scaling the side of the mountain to get at a magma core of his own in the hole located there. As he climbed Alex obviously munched on any fiery bit's he found sticking out. Both of them reached their magma core at roughly the same time and didn't hesitate it start attacking them.

For Zain it was multiple swings since his longsword barely did anything to the core but for Alex it was a whole other thing as he greedily started to crunch on and devour the magma core. This resulted in the core not only being shattered like in the game but completely removed sending zorah into agony as it started hemorrhaging fire energy. Alex totally ignored the burning sensation as he greedily gulped down the fiery blood and energy coming from the wound. When zorah's body clotted up that area Alex licked the blood off his face predatorily and headed for the next magma core.
