Chapter 7: New Mission and first day in school

Chapter 7: New Mission and first day in school

Tadashi found himself seated at the back of the classroom, his eyes fixed on the front but his thoughts wandering elsewhere. The day had been unremarkable, filled with familiar lessons from his previous life and constant whispers and glances from the girls who couldn't stop gossiping about him ever since he joined Kuoh Academy. He attempted to keep a low profile, but it was challenging when every girl in the class kept sneaking glances at him and murmuring about the enigmatic new student.

It wasn't new to Tadashi; attention like this had followed him before, but it wasn't enjoyable. What bothered him more was Issei Hyoudou, sitting a few seats over, glaring daggers at him. Tadashi could feel the jealousy radiating from Issei. The boy had been irritated since Tadashi walked in on his first day, and it wasn't hard to see why.

The girls who used to ignore Issei were now giggling and sending heart-eyed looks at Tadashi. It was clear that Issei was feeling frustrated. His muttering only made things worse. Tadashi's irritation was mounting. He had encountered guys like Issei before, who believed everything revolved around impressing girls and seeking their attention.

Issei's obnoxious nature, the way he constantly ogled every girl in class, and his general cluelessness grated on Tadashi's nerves. It wasn't just that Issei was loud; it was the fact that he was utterly unaware of the world around him.

"Idiot," Tadashi thought, his patience getting thinner with each bitter remark Issei muttered under his breath. Tadashi had always harbored a deep dislike for people like Issei, who were shallow, perverted, and fixated on their desires, utterly blind to the more significant issues. There were far more pressing matters than trying to impress girls, but Issei seemed too dense to understand. To Tadashi, he barely even registered as a blip on his radar.

While the teacher droned on about a topic that didn't capture Tadashi's interest, his mind wandered. He subtly extended his senses, letting his divine awareness spread, searching for any hint of supernatural presence nearby. There was a faint but unmistakable trace of devils, especially around the Occult Research Club. Tadashi had already suspected it—Kuoh Academy wasn't an ordinary school. Devils were present, and they were keeping an eye on him. That much was evident.

Tadashi didn't bother to suppress his awareness. He knew they were keeping tabs on him, but they didn't seem to have figured out what he was. They could sense something was different but had yet to make any moves. Still, it was only a matter of time before they did.

As Tadashi strolled through the school grounds during a break, Rias Gremory watched from the Occult Research Club room window high above. Her sharp blue eyes focused intently on him, sensing something unusual about him that didn't fit into any recognizable category.

"He's different from the other students," she murmured.

Akeno Himejima, standing beside her, noticed Rias's focused expression and leaned against the window frame with a teasing smile. "What's piqued your interest, Rias? Someone intriguing?" Akeno's voice was as smooth and playful as always.

Rias kept her eyes fixed on Tadashi, subtly narrowing them. "There's something off about the new transfer student, Tadashi Jin. I can't sense any Sacred Gear or trace of magic, yet there's this unsettling feeling I can't shake off." Akeno raised an eyebrow and took a closer look at Tadashi. After a brief pause, she shrugged lightly. "He seems pretty ordinary to me. But if your gut tells you something's wrong, I'd trust it. Should we take action?" Rias turned away from the window, shaking her head. "Not just yet. Let's keep an eye on him for now. I'd rather not show our hand until we fully understand who he is." Her tone remained steady, tinged with caution. Experienced in handling threats, Rias was not one to take unnecessary risks, especially when Tadashi's true nature was still a mystery. With a playful smirk, Akeno teased, "You're always so careful, Rias. You'll make me jealous with all the attention you give him." Rias offered a slight smile but remained silent. Her thoughts were occupied by Tadashi and the strange energy she couldn't quite pinpoint. For now, she decided to wait and watch. They would be prepared to confront him if necessary when the time was right.

Tadashi spent the day in the classroom, contemplating his next move. The Occult Research Club hadn't taken any action against him yet. Still, it was evident that the devils had taken notice of something. He could sense their presence observing him. However, he wasn't too worried. If anything, it was rather intriguing. He knew he would have to meet them eventually, but for now, he was content to let them observe from a distance and wonder.

When the bell finally rang, signaling the end of the day, Tadashi packed his things, relieved to leave the classroom and escape Issei's piercing glances. As he was about to head home, the familiar Chat Group interface appeared, lighting up with new notifications. Tadashi checked the messages, as he usually did.

Emperor of Roses: (Umu! I declare that I shall lead our first mission to glorious victory!)

Maki: (You don't even know the mission, Nero. Calm down.)

Subaru: (I've got a bad feeling about this.)

Tadashi shook his head, chuckling at the usual banter. Nero was always full of herself, acting like every mission was hers to lead. Maki was the only one with a level head, as always. But before Tadashi could type anything, a notification interrupted the conversation.

[Ding! New Mission Available]

Tadashi's eyes narrowed as the details of the mission filled his vision.

Mission Objective: Operation to Retake Wall Maria

World: Attack on Titan

Details: Assist the Survey Corps during the mission to retake Wall Maria. Neutralize Titans and ensure the survival of critical members of the Survey Corps. Failure to assist will result in dire consequences.

Tadashi gazed at the mission details, excitement and caution welling inside him. "Attack on Titan, huh?" he thought. The brutal world is filled with towering, man-eating Titans and soldiers constantly battling against impossible odds. The mission was set during one of the most dangerous events in the series—the operation to reclaim Wall Maria. It wasn't going to be an easy fight. Tadashi let the information sink in before rechecking the group chat.

Tadashi: (Okay, guys, this is our first mission. I'll tell you something first about the world we are going to. In the world we are going to go, humanity's last survivors are in a constant battle for their lives against the terrifying Titans in a world that's essentially a battlefield. These gigantic, man-eating creatures roam beyond colossal protective walls, threatening civilization. It's a harsh and unforgiving world where every fight could signify humanity's final stand.)

Emperor of Roses: (Titans! Ha! We shall conquer them with ease. Umu!)

Maki: (Titans? Like Giants? Isn't that kinda hard for the first mission?)

Subaru: (Nah Bro, fuck this Chat Group. I have no powers, and now I must help retake the wall from AOT. )

Tadashi smiled faintly.

Tadashi: (Relax, Subaru. If we couldn't do this, why would the Chat group give us this mission? )

After closing the interface, he took a deep breath, mentally preparing himself. This would be his first real challenge, and he was eager to test his abilities against the Titans. As he walked home, he couldn't stop thinking about the Survey Corps and the harsh world they were about to enter. It wouldn't be easy, but this mission would push him to his limits. It was an actual test of strength and an opportunity to gauge the capabilities of others in his chat group in a life-or-death situation. The battle for Wall Maria was about to commence, and Tadashi would be prepared.
