The Auction Begins

The giant woman and owner of the store started laughing before it gradually turned into outright bellowing joyous laughter.

"Oh I needed that." She chuckled when she finally recovered from her bout of laughter.

"I was being serious." Kalum said, pouting slightly at being laughed at.

"And that is what makes it so funny." She remarked, chuckling.

She seemed to be considering what to say before coming to a decision.

"One hundred high-tier spirit stones." She finally revealed her asking price.

That was an insane price but likely worth it! One hundred low-tier spirit stones were equal to a single mid-tier spirit stone. One hundred mid-tier spirit stones were equal to a single high-tier spirit stone. Therefore, one hundred high-tier spirit stones was equal to a million low-tier spirit stones. This was more than Kalum had ever seen in his life! But easily affordable with the blessings that were the Cultivation System Maker and the Beast Hunter System.

"I will come back for you." Kalum whispered to the weapon before heading out the store, the slightly mocking laughter of the store owner following him. Although he didn't find a weapon that he would want for the short term, he came away with a goal for the near future. A weapon like this would be immensely helpful for him! He had a sneaking suspicion that the Cultivation System Maker held the answer to the issue of soul power, but that would require further study as soon as he could.

He still had just under a day until the auction was to be held so he tried to think of something to pass the time. There was little point cultivating as he needed time to adjust to his new minor realm first.

"Perhaps I'll try sleeping like a mortal for once." Kalum mused.

Once you became a cultivator your need for sleep was greatly reduced with every cultivation realm as the weakness of the human form was purified by Qi. Cultivation also acted as a form of sleep so it fell out of fashion in the world of cultivators. To the point that beds became a rare sight, mainly for nobles or the rich to rest on for their comfort rather than a need to sleep.

Kalum made his way to the Cultivators Paradise and back to the room he rented, he still had a day left. Setting up his basic alarm jade he quickly dozed off into a dreamless sleep.

The next day, Kalum felt mentally refreshed, as if he had just consumed a Boundless Mind Pill. Checking the time on his artefact jade he realized that it was only a few hours until the auction. It would probably be best to go early in this case.

Kalum left Cultivators Paradise after handing the keys over to the man on duty. The auction house was not terribly far away and he reached it in no time at all.

One he entered, rather then going up to a receptionist he made his way down the stairs to the main auction lobby/

"Hello Sir, here for the auction today?" An elderly butler with white hair asked him.

"Yes, I am here for the auction." Kalum said politely.

The butler nodded before gesturing down the corridor, neither him nor the guards stopping Kalum from progressing further.

Kalum sat towards the back, looking up at the giant marble stage that was luxuriously decorated. It was sure to be a marvellous auction. He had never seen a similar sight before, having never been brave enough in the past to wade through the sea of risks.

He was here early so he made it his job to observe everyone as they came in. People of all different origins and allegiances eventually funnelled into the auction house. Although he kept an eye on them it was unlikely that any of them were true movers and shakers in the cultivation world as they would either have a VIP box or simply have better options for auction houses.

It did not take long for the entire auction house to be filled, it seemed that competition would be ripe today.

An elegantly dressed lady in a dazzling black skater dress came to the stage. Her appearance immediately hushed all the quiet conversations and backroom deals the others had been discussing. Kalum was certain that she was picked for her beauty as much as her intelligence, he had no doubt about that.

"Good Afternoon, I would like to thank everyone for their patronage as usual, the auction is bound to impress you all i'm sure. Today we have a wide variety of merchandise from all over the country. I wish everyone the best of luck in finding and acquiring what they desire from us. And with that the auction will now begin." The woman said, her voice calming men and women alike.

A servant dressed in a simple black maid dress stepped onto the stage with a black box and handed it to the lady of the house.

"The first item up for auction today is a batch of ten beseker pills, these will allow you to enter a raging state and greatly increase your combat power by three times for an entire hour. However the after effects will require you to take a day to recuperate. The bidding will start at one thousand low-tier spirit stones." The woman introduced, hyping up the product while also being honest about the downside.

Kalum had no need for such a pill, anyone that could force him to use it would have to be able to catch up with all of his escape techniques, and that meant that the pill wouldn't make a difference. It was also counterproductive if he was farming Demon Beasts as he would be out of commission after just an hour. Kalum left everyone else to bid. The pills went for five thousand low-tier spirit stones in the end.

It did not take long for the next item on the list to be unveiled.

"The second item at today's auction is an ancient scroll, the language is unknown and trust me, we have done a thorough check. It could lead to treasure or be an ancient technique scroll. Push your luck and see if you will be the one to unveil its secrets."
