First successful sale

The ancient scroll caught a large amount of attention. It was an item that had a massive risk factor with huge possible payoffs if you could put the work in. Kalum himself participated in the bidding until it reached over ten thousand low-tier spirit stones. He was hoping to simply keep it until he was able to solve it but it was not to be.

The ancient scroll ended up selling for two hundred and forty thousand spirit stones, far ahead of what Kalum was willing to spend on a gamble at this point. Not only that, but it was also not too far-fetched to believe that the auction house had already copied the scroll for their own use, thus ruining any exclusivity possibly gained.

Kalum paused his internal thoughts when the third item was introduced.

"The next item is notoriously rare and is normally reserved for auctions in our parent establishment, however due to this Demon Beast Cores low cultivation level we are able to showcase it to you all today." The entrancing lady said.

Her slow words increased the hype and impatience of the attendants as she no doubt intended.

"The Frost Serpent Demon Beast Core has a wide variety of uses, it is also one of the most potent sources of Frost Qi. Such a commodity in the 2nd Core Creation Realm would have been placed later in the auction if not for the fact it is just the core. Bidding will start at fifty thousand low-tier spirit stones." The hostess revealed.

"Fifty thousand…"

"One hundred thousand…"

The bids came out from the floor constantly and gradually built up to a number that surprised even Kalum.

"Five hundred thousand." A voice boomed from above, no doubt one of the VIP boxes. The bid immediately caused silence, the previous offer of three hundred thousand instantly outmatched.

"The Frost Serpent Demon Beast Core has been sold to VIP number twelve. Now onto the next item."

Such a large purchase was made and other than some small hushed whispers no one was shocked. The wealth and power of everyone else here was once again impressed upon Kalum. He was only allowed here because he was a seller after all.

The next auction items all passed in a blur. Unfortunately very few things of interest came up that Kalum was interested in. Everything he might have wanted was also far too pricey for him to compete for. Some items even reach into the millions of low-tier spirit stones.

"And finally the last item of today's auction. A Dark Star Shard. A treasure of bountiful power that can be used in grandmaster or above formations or alchemy. We have taken special measures to ensure its powerful aura doesn't instantly kill anyone today." The hostess explained.

And indeed, the shard was encased in some sort of metal and glass box with runes etched onto the sides. A very powerful containment device if he had ever seen one. It seemed that it was worth it to go to the end of the auction even if it was just to glance at such a precious treasure.

"I wonder why it's sold here and not on a higher level." Kalum muttered.

Unexpectedly he was overheard by the man sitting next to him, who explained it to him.

"Normally it would be sold in the Grand Auction House. This is their way of hyping up the Grand Auction House so we will purchase the rights to visit it, at a premium of course." He explained.

"Thank you." Kalum responded, being polite.

That was quite the cunning plan. It could draw more people in and thus more money. Even Kalum was tempted, fortunately for his peace of mind even with his recent windfall it fell far short of what he needed to reach the third level, let alone the forth.

The Dark Star Shard ended up selling for a massive twelve million low-tier spirit stones, the bounty of an entire small sect. Such a mind boggling amount of wealth was far beyond Kalum for now. But just witnessing such things gave him a greater desire to gain power and wealth. To use the System's to increase his standing and ability.

Once the final item was sold off, Kalum collected the spirit stones he was owed from the auction house. After taking away the tax he was left with four hundred thousand low-tier spirit stones. Which was more than he was owed.

"As thanks for bringing such a thing to us, I hope you will continue to support us in the future." The receptionist bowed.

So they were giving him a small bribe for future profit? Kalum was fine with that.

As Kalum left the auction house he came across a familiar face.

"Elder Pultho!" Kalum greeted him.

"Ah young Kalum! I'm glad we could meet without issue." Pultho smiled back.

Kalum hadn't seen him in the auction house, yet he came out just as he had. Maybe he was in a VIP box?

"Shall we get down to business Elder?" Kalum asked respectfully

"Ah yes of course." The elder nodded.

"But before that, my superior wished to pass on a message of thanks for auctioning such a useful item. It is not often that the Moon Beam Sect can get such a treasure." Elder Pultho said.

"It was no problem at all!" Kalum replied.

The Moon Beam Sect was in the top ten in this country. Kalum did not have the knowledge of where they ranked in that number; however, such things were the business of sects, not a wandering cultivator like him. If they had purchased his Frost Serpent Demon Beast Core they must be in need of Demon Cores. Further evidenced by an Elders willingness to meet with him.

"Let's head to the Hushni's pavilion, it is a great place to eat and drink in private." The elder Remarked.

The elder led him into a beautiful fancy place that reminded him of the five star restaurants in his previous life. They both got wine and some snacks before sitting inside a private booth.

The elder took out a small formation disk and sat it on the middle of the table. The already small amount of background noise from the outside died completely.

"Now onto business!"
