Chapter 90

"Pfft!"

Bee couldn't help but laugh, feeling that the tense atmosphere from a moment ago had instantly been broken.

"Do you really think I'm that bad? How could I possibly use a child as a sacrifice?"

"But you still need the blood of a pure person. From the beginning, you thought I was the pure one!" Emma remained on guard, pointing out the flaw in Bee's words.

"The blood is just a ritual formality. Just half a syringe of blood is enough. Did you think I would drain all your blood?"

Only then did Emma breathe a small sigh of relief. She felt that Bee was simply sly and two-faced, but not necessarily evil.

Randy continued to ask, "How many of you are there?"

"Why, are you really thinking of joining?"

Bee also noticed that Randy was different. Although he appeared young and full of warmth, his character and behavior were unusually sinister.

"There are currently six of us, and our cult is called the 'Guardians of the Galaxy!'"

"Cool, it definitely has a teen horror movie vibe!" Randy still had a smile on his face, saying in a friendly manner, "Bee, to be honest, you don't seem like a cultist. If it's just about realizing your dreams, you could rely on personal effort; there's no need to join such a superstitious group."

"You don't believe it?"

"If possible, I'd like to see it for myself."

"Well, tonight, come to our gathering, and you'll understand. We do have our own core methods."

"Wait! You plan to hold some kind of evil ritual in my house tonight?" Emma frowned as she asked.

"Of course not, I'm just taking Randy to have a look. After all, we haven't found a suitable sacrifice yet, so the ritual can't be conducted."

Bee smiled and patted Emma on the head. "Don't worry, you're the boss here; I'll definitely inform you beforehand."

But Emma only sneered internally. Taking Randy to have a look? She had no idea what she was getting into.

Scheming as ever, Emma didn't bother to warn Bee and even looked forward to seeing her make a fool of herself. However, she was interested in tonight's gathering.

"Can I come to the gathering?"

"I'm afraid not, you're too young for this."

Bee shook her head, rejecting the proposal.

Immediately, Emma's face changed, but before she could say anything, Randy stopped her.

"Another guest is coming."

Randy looked puzzled. "Do you usually have so many visitors?"

"Emma? It's your Uncle Owen. Do you need my help?"

A strong, energetic voice came from outside the door.

"Who's Owen?" Randy curiously glanced at Emma.

Emma quickly started crying again and threw herself into Bee's arms, looking pitiful.

"He's the neighbor from next door. He's a cosmetic doctor and owns a clinic in town."

Randy nodded and walked over to open the living room door.

Standing at the entrance was a well-dressed, immaculate middle-aged man.

"Hello, I'm David's neighbor, Owen. I apologize for not helping earlier."

He smiled and extended his hand.

"No worries. Your presence here now is the best support."

Randy stepped aside. "Do you need to check on Emma? She's still upset."

Right on cue, Emma started crying again, with Bee on the side, comforting her lovingly.

Dr. Owen said, "No need, I believe the child is fine. I'm actually more interested in you. Can you tell me your name?"

Randy found this a bit strange but introduced himself.

"Randy."

"Hello, Randy. It's a pleasure to meet you. Here is my card. If you have time, I'd like to invite you to my place."

Owen handed over a gold-embossed business card. Being a cosmetic doctor with his own business, he was certainly part of the upper class in America.

Yet, Randy still found his intentions puzzling.

"You see, I noticed your skin and overall appearance are so exquisitely refined, like a perfect work of art. It's as captivating as a blooming flower, drawing people in!"

Even Randy, who had the thickest skin, found his praise a bit over the top.

As he spoke, Owen's expression grew fervent. "Are you a local?"

"Yes, I live on the east side of town."

"Oh, that's not too far. If possible, I'd like to have a proper chat with you. I'm even willing to pay!"

After saying this, he also loudly comforted Emma a few times and then left.

This left Randy even more confused.

"Emma, has he always been like this?"

Emma shook her head. "We're not familiar with him. Dr. Owen is a strange person. He even dislikes his wife and daughter."

Bee joked, "Maybe he has a crush on you? Is he gay?"

Randy didn't say much. He simply watched Dr. Owen walk towards the largest villa at the top.

When he took Owen's business card earlier, Randy sensed a faint resentment emanating from him. Although weak, it definitely indicated that he was being targeted by a malevolent spirit.

Then again, this was Derry; strange occurrences here were not surprising.

And besides, more weirdos might eventually gather here.

Like Bee, for instance; Randy could tell she wasn't a local.

As night fell, David finally called back.

He had just gotten off the plane, and his phone had been flooded with calls. Hearing that his child had nearly jumped off a building, he was scared half to death.

"Don't worry, Dad. I'm fine. Randy caught me. Yes, I know it was wrong. I just hate Teacher Ellis she always targets me!"

Emma patiently explained to David.

Currently, David was accompanying a client in the Midwest, looking at a new project. It would take at least until tomorrow before he could break free.

He expressed his heartfelt thanks to Randy over the phone and generously didn't hold Bee responsible.

"This has nothing to do with me. If I get fired because of this, I'll definitely spill the beans about the two of you."

After hanging up, Bee's expression was not pleasant.

Even when setting the dinner plates, she was especially forceful to express her displeasure.

Emma didn't like her attitude either. "You're really not that considerate. You don't help me with my homework, and you can't even cook properly."

"No one's forcing you to eat."

Although they enjoyed bickering, their relationship had clearly grown closer. At least, the killing intent in Emma's eyes had lessened.

Randy didn't interfere with them, only occasionally offering a word or two: "Emma, you're different from others. Don't waste your time on studying. When you're a bit older, I'll have better things to teach you."

Emma was intrigued, and even Bee didn't voice any opposition; she was curious as well.

After dinner, the three of them sat on the couch watching TV, though none of them seemed particularly focused.

They waited until it was completely dark before Bee began calling her teammates.

"Oh, and Emma, you'd better go upstairs and sleep."

"Why? This is my house!"

"What's coming up next is adult stuff."

Emma pointed at Randy and yelled, "He's not even eighteen! My dad even considered becoming his guardian!"

"You're that young?"

Bee looked at Randy in shock.

"My age is indeed my weakness, but my real capabilities might surprise you."

The two of them burst into laughter, leaving Emma completely confused.

But her wishes didn't matter, and she was eventually sent back to her room by Randy.

Randy sat with her for a while and then added something to her water to help her sleep more soundly through the night.

Hopefully, the upcoming slaughter wouldn't wake her up.
