Chapter 16: Choices, Jealously
(Previously...)
"How would I put it, his mind was like how wood burning in a fireplace would sounds like, you know the crimpling sounds." He was trying to describe the noise that was in Spector head. "Wood burning sounds? Really? Are you sure you weren't mistaken?" Emmett asked his brother. "Again, I'm not sure... It was like... like how wood sounds like when on fire... the sound was unique, also there were other noises I heard behind that but not as intense."
" It's stuff you hear anywhere, trees, bushes rustling like if swaying in the wind, car noises, a lot of random noise, if you want to know, it was weird." Edward murmured and started strolling towards the outdoors, once again daydreaming of what he had heard in Spector's head. "He keeps getting weirder every day, hence the name Ed-weird." Emmett said as he teased Edward as he stepped out of the house in his own thoughts...
As the crisis had past, so did the day and a new tomorrow appeared on the horizon. Alice, Jess, and Edythe were looking out the window awaiting for Spector to return, but never did. They keeping an eye out especially in the direction of a particular area Spector went to, the cliff, where his scent had disappeared from. Remembering the fight scene, which was fresh in their minds, but there were not telling the other family members that.
At least Alice thought he would return; she had seen it. All Alice could do was stare in that direction because her whole being was screaming at her to keep looking. "Ali..., Alice, ALICE!!!" She flinched and turned her head to the voice that kept calling her; she saw Edythe's worrying gaze. "Alice, I been calling your name for a whole now, what's up?"
Alice stood up from her chair and said, "Sorry, Edythe. I didn't hear you, head in the clouds today, I guess." She said as she made up an excuse so she would not talk about her fears. "Anyway, let's go, schools about to start and we're the only ones that haven't left yet." Edythe pursed her lips worrying about her younger sister and what she was thinking about.
Alice soon had her happiness re-energized as she giggled and grabbed Edythe's hand leading her to the car. "Come on, let's go quickly. We might get to see Chris today!" Edythe rolled her eyes at her antics and let the super energetic pixie drag her along. The other Cullen siblings had left the house ten minutes earlier heading for school. But for them, it was the anticipation of seeing Chris again.
Making their way to school, they had just missed Chris by seconds when they arrived. So they had to move on and endure the day without seeing him. The day went by pretty fast, and Alice didn't get to see Chris the whole day and it was bringing her mood down. But as the day ended, she soon saw a short vision of the direction where Chris disappears too, must be where he lives, that means that soon she and her sisters will be invited there.
Alice's instantly skyrocketed, hopping along with an energetic skip in her step and a large smile sporting her face as she walked through her house door; she grabbed Esmee's hand tightly and said, "I found him! I know where he lives, and I want to talk to him." She said enthusiastically as Esmee looked conflicted at what Alice requested. "Alice, please calm down. Found who, Alice?"
Esmee asked the youngest daughter. As they were talking, the rest of the Cullen siblings filed into the house. "Chris, our mate!" Alice said while pointing at the other girls with a huge smile. Esmee gasped, but then a sound of "whoosh" appeared a man next to Esmee. The man that appeared next to Esmee was her husband Carlisle. He was sporting collar-length blond hair, height being 6'2, well-toned body frame, and a gentle-looking golden ringed eyes.
The previous day... twenty minutes after Victoria's escape...
After the chase was done with and Chris left the cliff lake, he went directly back to his home and started to wounder why he was playing superhero. He also wanted to know why he was playing with his enemies; he should have just ended them instead of letting one escape. Chirs knew he had the means to prevent an enemy from escaping his kill zone once they were inside.
He decided then and there to stop playing with his hunted and start being serous. Victoria could be right now killing other people and making an army to attack people in Forks or his beloved mates and or their families. He hated the way vampires played with and killed their food, why was he doing the same? He was confused as to why he was acting that way.
Unbeknownst to him, in his mind subconsciously he let his shields slip for a second as he caught himself after they fell for 5 seconds. But those five seconds was all Alice needed to get a read on him and where he lived, but he didn't know that just yet. But he would when he next would meet Alice, Jessamine, and Edythe at school the next school day. The rest of the day Chris spent the day meditating, clearing the thoughts and arrogance from his mind.
Present time...
"Is that true? Are we still talking about that young Trigonometry teacher, Christiano Armandeo?" As Carlisle asked and Alice nodding afterwards. "Is this really what you three what you all want, to share a mate with each other? Because at the first sign of any trouble, we are leaving Forks and never return, at least not for a while, as long as he stays here." Carlisle said as he gave them an ultimatum, then giving the girls a stern cold look.
Edythe, Alice, and Jessamine nodded without looking away and then Alice said, "Well, I only saw his back... but I am confident that it was him and I know where to find him!" She said as she posed in victory. "Where did you see him going, Alice? Is it near here?" Asked Carlisle as he wanted a roundabout location of Chris's residence just in case something happened, and they needed to leave quickly.
"He's at home right now, meditating... or it looked like he was meditating. I had a few seconds of the vision as it went blurry after that. His shields or whatever he has to block my visions must have happened after he chased after Victoria, and by the way I saw she escaped from the Spector guy. I saw an earlier vison where she is chasing a young teenager a few months from now."
"Well anyways, I saw Chris enter a gravel driveway right next to Charlies Swans house, he then entering what looked like a large two-story home after getting out of his car." Alice finished describing her vision of Chris and where he lived at. "Let's not forget that we saw him yesterday, the same day that Spector person attacked and killing five unknown foreign vampires at Port Angeles."
"You think it's him? That's just too much of a coincidence, don't you think? An unknown person kills FIVE not one FIVE vampires on his own and Chris being in the same area this happens. We need to find out a way to see if it was truly Chris or not." Edward said suspicion of Chris then having Emmett and Rosaline agreed with him. Carlisle sighed outwardly agreeing as well, finalizing his decision, and letting the girls do what they want, for now.
"Fine!! Alice, the times that you've seen him in your vision... What can you tell us about him? What kind of person is he? Describe him to us, in your own words." Carlisle asked Alice as she smiled and put on a thinking pose with a finger on her chin and all. "Well... Let's see, he's very kind, loving, loyal to a fault and very badass! He's very protective to those he loves, I've seen it briefly when I saw him with his parents."
"He truly loved them both to death, he was almost broken when they were killed, all those years ago. As you can see, he somehow recovered." Emmett chuckled at how Alice was describing Chis, while Rosalie rolled her eyes at Alice when she mentioned how 'badass' he was. Which also caused Jessamine and Edythe to paste a full blow smile on their faces as they both agreed their mate was a badass.
"Anyways, back in the 70's, when I saw him in New York, he looked pleasant, you know easy to talk too. He was sweet even..." Edythe interrupted her, "You saw him in New York that early and you failed to mention this? When? Why did you not tell us? Alice I thought we were sisters." Crossing her arms and turning away from Alice acting mad, but she really wasn't.
"Edythe, I did tell you back in California, when we saw him in the 80's. You just didn't listen. Ask Jess if I didn't tell you?" And she did, she turned to Jess if it was true, "Is that true? Did she tell us?" Jess said, "Yup I was there as well." Said Ed-weird as he put his tow cents in. "Yup, she said, and I quote, "I met this gorgeous model named Chris in one of my many trips watching models on the runway back in New York," end quote."
"then she went back from New York because Chris was leaving New York for another gig in France. She also said, "she stalked him to his hotel" but he was already leaving." Jess finished telling Edythe what Alice told them back then and she held her head down in embarrassment. Then Edythe turned to Alice, "I'm sorry Alice, I must have been unaware back then. Can you forgive me...please?"
After apologizing, Alice shook her head at Edythe and kept describing Chris to them, "I forgive you Edythe. Anyways, I only met Chris for a few minutes as he was making his way out of the hotel, they are very small times. But when I first spotted him as he was walking the runway, he strutted very nicely, by the way, in case you wanted to know girls, he was very handsome when he strut.
Anyways, I felt this power in him, I can't describe it, but it... whatever power it was, it prevented me from seeing anything dealing with his future. I think he's letting me see these visions of him, so I do believe he knows I have a future sight of some kind. And sometimes when I do get visions of him, it's about him fighting someone, sometimes he letting his guard down because of the fighting and that's when I see something of him.
He's a very good fighter by the way, and very strong. In one of my visions I saw him throw an old 1964 Cadillac at a moon child from two blocks away. He actually hit the wolf from that far away, he's got great aim, don't you think?" Emmett interrupted her after she said he threw a car at someone. "Excuse me... say what? An old Cadillac... we're talking about a car, right? Wow, he's that strong!! One of those old cars weighs at least 2 ½ tons easy."
"And he picked it up and threw it two blocks too, just... WOW!!" Said Emmett as he was impressed with Chris. Esmee, who was beside her husband just smiled gently while Carlisle was deep in his thoughts about hearing this for the first time. "How is he that strong Emmett? Is there anything else you can tell us about him, Alice?" Edward asked wondering how Chris got so strong.
"If what Alice just said is true, not that I'm saying it's not. He's about three to four times stronger than me. Meaning, that I can lift an old Cadillac, that's about my limit. I can't throw it farther than a few meters in front of me. Like 10 to 15 meters. But two blocks, that takes a while lot of muscle." Said Emmett who evaluated Chris's strength to his family, and that got all the Cullen's a little scared of what Chris can do them.
Also got Edythe, Alice, and Jess were proud that he was their mate and be able to take care of himself in a fight if he needed to. Carlisle then looked at Alice, shaking her head, which told him that was all she knew about Chris from her visions. "I only saw bits and pieces here and there. Or maybe what he allowed me to see of him. I only saw his face briefly and his broad back a few minutes ago as he was meditating."
"But..." Alice said as she looked around and continued, "In almost every vision... there was a huge fire that consumed the area and what I could see, a bunch of body parts on the ground after his fights." She finished saying Chris's last fight that she saw two years ago. "Fire? Body parts?" Carlisle rubbed his chin worryingly, "that only means that those you saw him fighting were vampires or other supernatural creatures."
"But the question I'm confused about is why was he fighting them? Were they after him or did he go searching for them?" As Carlisle finished ranting, he looked at his daughters then said, "Well, I am glad that you three want to meet your partner, if I had known that he was not human, I would not have forbidden any of you three from talking to him. But he is still only a human, right Alice?"
You need to know and prepare that he may die after forty or so years from now, right? We need to be careful how we handle this." Alice looked downcast but nodded. But then Edythe said something that caught her attention and brought it up to her family. "I don't know about that either Carlisle." Carlisle looked at his daughter confused. "Explain, please Edythe. Why would you say that?" he asked his oldest daughter.
"Think about it, back to what Alice had said earlier. Alice said she met him back in the 70's, right?" She looked at Alice nodding and that was when Alice widened her eyes in realization at what Edythe was about to say. Edythe nodded her head as well in confirmation Alice said, "Edythe's right Carlise!! I met Chris back then; he still looks the same age as he was back then. Maybe he ages really slowly or he's an immortal like us."
"The only way to tell if that's true is to wait and see if he ages in a few years or not or we ask him, but he might not tell us anything. That may mean that he may be the same as us; immortal, or something like an immortal, but he still human, he has a heartbeat I'm sure of it." Edythe felt happy that Chris was the same as them with live a long-life part and that he would live longer with or without them.
"Think positively people; I'll ask him on Monday, so don't be so down Alice, right Jessamine. He might not tell me anything but at least we'll know that he's as special as us, right?" Looking for support from her sisters, which got a quick nod from Alice and Jess. Alice's downcast face instantly disappeared, and her usual smile that could brighten the room was seen again.
"That's right! I need to think about what to wear when we meet him tomorrow! Edythe, Jess, we need to prepare, let's go see what we have in the closet to wear!!" After those reassuring words were spoken, Alice, Edythe, and Jessamine disappeared with inhuman speed into Alice's room to choose what to wear tomorrow so as to meet Chris. "Do you think he'll talk to us Edythe?"
Jess asked trying not to sound too excited about meeting Chris again since they were told not to be near him. "I hope so, it'd break my heart if he doesn't talk to us." Edythe said hugging her sister tightly. "Don't worry, I have the feeling that everything's going to be fine. Remember, I saw a glimpse of were he lived, and that means we would go there soon. I bet my life on it."
Alice said as they all started giggling soon after picking through the mountains of clothes. Back to the rest of the Cullen's still thinking about what they know so far of Chris and trying to put all the puzzle pieces together that is Chris. Carlisle turned his head towards the others in the room, he looked at Edward first, then to Emmett, Rosaline, and Esmee last as he held he hand in support.
Then said, "Please keep an eye on them tomorrow, Emmett. I am happy for the girls really I am, but since Alice's vision didn't tell much about Chris, we need to make sure Chris is not a bad person, we need to see what kind of person he, ok." Emmett and Edward nodded in agreement and they both left the room. "I don't think it is necessary, Carlisle, but if you're sure, I support it. I just hope that decision doesn't anger the girls because you can't trust them."
Esme grabbed Carlisle's hand and squeezes it in assurance then continued, "I agree with Emmett hon, but don't go to overboard. We don't want to lose our girls because you want to be too cautious." Carlisle sighed and nodded, "I'm just trying to be careful about him; there has been an increase of 'animal' attacks near here lately, and since he's Alice, Edythe, and Jess's partner, I also think Chris isn't ordinary."
Esme smiled and held his hand tighter, "They have been waiting for him for a long time, hon. They hid their pain under their cheerful personalities for far too long, but they never fool me one bit. I know they were hurting since he disappeared all those years ago." Carlisle nodded at what Esmee said about the girls, "You are right hon... I'm sorry." He said as he reached over and kissed her forehead.
Esme smiled and she left the room, "I am going to help the girls make the greatest first impression, or second in the history of mankind." Her giggling lingered in the living room for a bit and faded away as she made her way to Alice's room wanting to join her three daughters in getting them ready for the next encounter with Chirs. With those last words she said, she disappeared into Alice's bedroom.
Seconds later hearing laughing coming from the four of them making Carlisle smile and happy for them. And the day became night and the sun soon rose from the east slowly but surely as it was getting covered by a large set of dark clouds that were looming over the sky. All was well in the Cullen home, and everyone was tense today except three young vampire females that were excited to get to school.
Meanwhile, at a house that stands beside the home of the Chief of police's home, we see a young man wiping his sweat off his forehead after he just finished his morning run. This time he had ran fourteen miles as a warmup, almost made it to Port Angeles when he turned back. He felt good after that run and now was heading to take a long hot shower and eat his breakfast that he had prepared before his run.
But soon he noticed that was going to be late for class, so he ran to the door grabbing his jacket as he made his way out of his home. He hurriedly hopped into his car and sped out toward Forks high. It didn't take him long to get to school but he was still running a few minutes behind. 'Damn came in five minutes late,' he thought to himself as he walked to my classroom.
Seeing all his students already waiting in the hallway, they parted to the side making way for him to open the door. As they all started to enter, when the final two were entering, he instantly stopped at the doorway. Looking back out into the hallway, he saw three more people walking up to his classroom door. He looked out at the classroom number posted outside on the wall confused; he was checking if he got entered the wrong classroom.
Because he knew full well that the three that were approaching his classroom were not assigned to any of his classes. They soon entered and my attention was on them quickly and then he spoke as he kept looking at them. "Hmmm, alright people, sorry I'm late, am I really late or are all of you a bit early?" Which got a few students laughing at me, "Ok, ok... I'm late, please take your seats."
He snorted at the look the three newcomers were giving him and he then turned his gaze back to the students as he put last nights checked assignments on his desk. Now the three newcomers; you guessed correctly; they were three Cullen kids that for some reason transferred into his class. Chris looked confused as he was handing out yesterdays homework that he graded at home.
He took a deep breath in and started his lecture, from time to time he would take a glance at one of the Cullens, a peculiar student girl to be precise. And without missing a beat his lecture continued as he saw many of his students were taking notes as he spoke. The students kept looking at him as he walked around the room explaining todays topic on angels and degrees on polynomials and quadrilaterals'.
Everyone in the room stayed focused on him and he on them as they listened. After answering a few questions from the students, time sure passes when not paying attention. As Chris looked at the clock on the wall and it was almost time for the end of class, Chris made his way to his desk and hand out todays homework. He paused at this desk for a second and started thinking to himself as to why they were here.
'What has changed? What do they want to accomplish? Did something happen for them changing their attitude towards me?' Well, one way to find out, I guess as he turned to watch the students and one particular Cullen staring at him with an intense gaze. He ignored her gaze as he handed out the homework right on time, as the bell rang ending the class.
As many students were heading out, a few stayed behind to ask a few more questions about yesterday's homework. And after answering the students questions, the class was done. I was glad his class was right before lunch; he was still hungry, and he forgot to pack his lunch. That meant that he would have to buy his lunch today at the cafeteria where all the students hung out, which included the Cullen kids making him frown.
'Time for lunch and a break from all the stares.' He thought to himself, as the lunch bell rang. He grabbed his bag and exited the classroom making his way to cafeteria then to the teachers' lounge to eat his lunch. Good thing there were not many students in line to buy lunch, as he looked at what was on the menu for today, 'looked like pizza today. I love cafeteria pizza, they always made the best pizza,' he thought to himself.
Chris soon started to remembered back to his old life, before all this happened when he was at school. After paying for his lunch, he soon made his way out of the cafeteria and into the teachers' lounge where he sat down at corner table out of site from the other teachers and their stares. With a triple dose of cafeteria pizza an salad for the side, you could see steam still coming from the pizza as it was just made fresh.
Chris POV...
As I sat here, I thought that I could eat in peace for once, but things never go the way I want them to. I could feel several intense gazes coming from a few of the female teachers in the lounge. I shook my head at their actions and wiped a slight drool from the side of my mouth thinking of the one girl I shouldn't be thinking about, 'I don't know what to do about them. Do I want someone else? Should I disappear again?'
'Why did I come back anyways? I could have stayed away from Forks all together and lived somewhere else safely. Is my subconscious telling me something?' As I thought to myself while I ate my lunch slowly. Not noticing that I already had emptied out my plate of both the pizza and the salad, "damn. I'm still hungry." I said in a low tone, only I could hear.
Shrug my shoulder as I threw the trash away and was about to leave, but then I felt another annoying gaze from the side; as I turned to look who it was, I and saw several of my students glaring at me as took a step out of the teachers' lounge. I raised an eyebrow at their actions wondering why they were staring and then I heard, "Bunch of Weirdos!! Mind your own business!!"
As I turned to look at who said that I saw Jessamine and Edythe looking my way. I soon saw Edythe elbow Edward in the ribs as he kept staring at me as well, causing the two girls next to him to glare at him, making him turn away. Alice who was hiding behind Rosaline and Emmett had her hands on her face in embarrassment, as they were caught by me. I could see her shoulders slumped downward as I ignored them and walked away.
It looked like her entire world was destroyed in front of her, she wanted to impress Chris, and then this idiot beside her embarrasses them. I shook my head as I kept walking way into my own thoughts, I still had two more classes to teach for the day before I went home and tinker with some new ideas I've had to upgrade a few weapons of mine. Making into my classroom, I closed the door and waited for the next class to begin.
Soon the next class began and ended just as quickly, except for my last class. Just when it had ended, as I turned to put away my stuff and clean up the room like I do every time I left for the day, I found three Cullens had appeared sitting in my classroom. I knew no one was here as I had waited for the last student to leave the classroom. Here now sat Emmett, Alice, and Edythe who appeared out of thin air staring at me.
"What do you want? I'm pretty sure I didn't ask you to stay after class, now did I?" Emmett, who stared at me for a bit, stood up with Alice right beside him, they both walked up to my desk as I had sat down behind it. Emmett then pushes Alice in front of him, "Chris, you remember me right?" As I nodded at her, "How could I forget my little stalker from the 70's." After I said that caused Emmett to bust out laughing loudly.
