1 Me & Who?

Sigh.

I licked my lips as they were dehydrated. I am slowly bringing up my body to my black duvet. I heard a brutal thunderstorm outside the house. As I turned to my window, the rains were raining cats and dogs. Wind breeze can be seen that we're swaying harshly through the trees. Sometimes, I feel like the weather means something to everyone. Perhaps there are specific meanings or emotions beneath it that someone can relate to. Nevertheless, today is a good day. Why does it have to be raining?

"Rovina honey, wake up. It's time for breakfast." Mother knocked through my door.

"I'm up, mom!" I said as I brought myself up to my nearest comfort room to freshen up. I looked up to my reflection and saw a girl with straight blonde locks, greenish orbs, thick eyebrows, long lashes, and red kissable lips. I must thank my parents for this. Despite the riches, it was hard growing up to be in a Lockhart family. There are specific rules to follow to avoid staining our names. And with that, both of my parents have been strict about my whereabouts and activities inside and outside the house.

Growing up, I had never had a problem with anything; I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I was pampered from head to toe. I had a lot of friends, but not all were genuine. Adler was the only one there for me. Complex life, isn't it?

My mom is a business tycoon and as well as my dad. I inherited my locks and eyes through my father's then the face structure and lips with my mom. Their good genes led me to what I look today. And to add, boys flocking over me was never a problem. I guess there's a tiny one. I have had a massive crush on my best friend Adler Turner since I don't remember when. It is just that since birth we have been together, he is different from all the boys I have met and has a great personality. Let me add up that he has an excellent physical feature too. So how can I resist that beauty?

Hurriedly getting out of my room, "Good morning, where are they?." I greeted all of our housemaids while pointing out the directions to the dining area. I expressed my gratitude and continuously walked to my destination.

"Mom," I said. I looked through our dining room. I've seen fresh pancake that is ready on the plate. The orange juice, too, looked delicious.

"Here, honey!" mom said.

I saw her prepare the utensils needed for breakfast. And without hesitations, I helped her with it. My mother is a busy woman. Although a business tycoon, she always managed to care for my father and me. She's a hands-on mom, which I admired if I was not a Lockhart; I might probably be more appreciative of our situation right now. Business mothers don't always have the time like this, but still, I love my parents.

"Mom, have you heard from Tita Adele that Adlers gonna come home today?"

"Yes, honey won't you meet him at the airport today?" she said.

"Yes, mom, I'm just worried about the heavy rain today. It seems that the driver will have a hard time driving to the airport." I uttered.

"Where is dad? By the way, mom, I haven't seen him this morning?" I added.

"He had business to attend to, honey. He's in New York right now; I guess he forgot to tell you about it. He'll call later probably, don't worry." she answered.

"It's okay mom, I'll just message him later," I said as I continued chewing my hot pancakes.

My father, William Lockhart, is a renowned businessman in the country. Despite a lot of competitors, he had remained to be on top. That is why I, their only daughter, am provided with many restrictions throughout her life. Some business person involved with him had betrayed him. Thinking that they would not be caught, but fortunately, my father was thoughtful and careful enough to avoid certain scandals that would surely go to stain our companies name.

"Thanks for the breakfast, mom. I am going to change my clothes still have some schedule today. And I am going to fetch Adler." I said as I kissed my mother goodbye.

"Hmmmmm," humming happily, I walked back to my room to dress up. Finally! After six long years, we are going to be inseparable again! Adler has been staying in Germany with his brothers; he was there to take training in handling the company. Lockhart's and Turner's businesses are widely spread globally. We have varieties of companies to start with. From malls, hotels, and restaurants, we are reigning in the corporate world.

"What to wear?" I uttered as I was rummaging through my closet's racks. I am nervous right now. Imagining what will be his reaction if he sees me now? I was really different compared to my past self from the last six years. Having anything for myself, I was also pampered with food causing me to gain a lot of weight. I was 5'7 standing tall, was 218 lbs in weight; I was an obese girl to begin with. His migration helped me a lot though; it motivated me to be better when we are seen together. It was an excellent motivation, for now, I have achieved a body to die for. From 218 to 121 lbs, significant difference, huh?

"This or this?" I was contemplating which dress to wear. The yellow wrapped dress or the sexy bodycon. In the end I chose to be more simple. The wrapped dress partnered with a simple white Jimmy choo sneakers.

"All good, beautiful!" I said as I observed myself in the full-length mirror. I excitedly exited my room and stormed out to our exit door, waiting for my driver. Looking from our foyer, I have seen our driver patiently waiting with an umbrella in his hand.

"Good day, Miss Lockhart," he greeted. I just smiled at him timidly, not minding how my beating heart was so loud because of Alden's arrival. Rain puttered loudly as we got out of the mansion "please let this rain go away," I silently prayed.

"Airport, please, Mr. Stan." I said as I observed the heavy pouring in the car's window. Silently sighing, it almost blocks the road view in our way. Due to the weather, I can't help but reminisce how Adler and I got close together. It was also raining hard when we met; I can't help but smile remembering it.

"Huff huff," I was breathing heavily because of running. " Why did it have to be raining? It was sunny a while ago." I angrily expressed. I hurriedly ran as fast as I could to find some shed. Fortunately, there was an old cabin nearby. Not minding the signage, I run and run until I am at the entrance of it. Knocking to check if there was an owner but there were none. I slowly opened the cabin and make myself comfortable inside.

As I was balancing my breath, I had the chance to examine where I was shedding.

"This is a nice mini house," I uttered—the small wooden cabin. I continue to admire the interior inside. Despite being classics looking outside, the interior inside is a lot different.

"The owner must have spent a fortune in this one," I thought. Suddenly, the loud creek doors had distracted my reverie of observing.

"Who are you?" A deep voice had confronted me. It was too deep that the hairs of my elbow had risen. Secretly I tried to make it down by rubbing them.

"I-I was just here to shed because of the pouring rain. Perhaps, are you the owner?"Stuttering I somehow answered his question.

"Woman, this is not public property. Next time, please read the signage out the gate." he reasons out.

"Uhm, thank you for this. I will get out of your sight now." I nervously said, feeling he might be angry because of my sudden intrusion. Hurriedly I prep up myself to get out when the mysterious man made a sound.

"Pffttt, you looked like a puppy," he laughingly said to me as he was eyeing me from head to toe.

"I am Adler; what's your name?" he asked.

"I am Rovina; I lived here nearby. I apologize for intruding without notice." I timidly said as I observed his reaction. Standing meters away from each other, he suddenly came closer ad grabbed me by my hands. "Come, I'll let you borrow some shirt. Let's tidy you up." he happily invited.

With that, we had constantly been in touch with each other. We didn't found it at first that not later that day that our families were close with each other. The Turners and Lockharts have been acquainted with each other for a long time. Since our great grandfathers were best friends, it was passed down generations per generation. My parents were usually the ones who always reminded me of how our grandparents met. It was on my right birthday as she reminisced the past, saying, "your grandfather met them when our business was not still on top. With two minds in unity, they have succeeded in climbing up the pyramid and made us what we are today. The riches and dimes are all for our bonds with each other." And here we are right now, Adler and I have been inseparable. The difference is I have a hidden admiration for him.

"Hmmmm." I smiled as I remember that particular memory.
