Azure is silent for a moment, his cold eyes boring into Corent's. The tension in the air is thick, the only sound the crackling of the fire outside the manor. Corent's breathing is shallow and erratic, his body trembling as he stares at the spear pointed at his throat.
"I told you everything," Corent pleads, his voice cracking. "I've been honest with you. I gave you the token. Let me go, and you'll never see me again. I swear."
Azure tilts his head slightly, as if considering the words. Then he steps closer, his voice quiet but lethal. "You're lying about something. I can feel it. And even if you aren't, I can't risk you warning the others."
"No, I wouldn't—" Corent's words are cut off as Azure drives the spear forward with precision, piercing his throat in one swift motion. Blood spurts from the wound as Corent's eyes widen in shock. He gurgles, clutching at the spear with feeble hands, but his strength fades rapidly.
