Husband and boss(chapter 28)

After Jennie took a shower,she lied on the soft bed,it was comfortable it's been long time since she slept in such a comfortable bed,the bed in her apartment wasn't soft and big as this one and she will be sleeping in this room until they divorce.Though the bed was soft and comfortable she couldn't sleep well,she was in a new environment making it hard for her to sleep dedespite being tired,after staying awake for a long time she heard a knock on the door,she stood up and opened the door,it was Lucas."It's dinner time,let's go have our meals" he said looking at her,it seemed she didn't have a good rest she still looked tired,"didn't you rest?you look tired","I did, just didn't get enough rest" she replied and both went to the dining table.A woman in her late fifties served them their diner "before we start let me introduce her,she is Elizabeth,the housekeeper if you need anything you can ask her,she is capable and trustworthy she was my nanny when I was young, I trust she will be able to help you with the pregnacy" he said.Jennie looked at him shocked,did he tell her I was pregnant then how should I introduce myself as his friend?or wife?how will I avoid this troubles she thought but before she could say anything Lucas said "she is your madam,she is pregnant so take good care of her,you are the only one I trust to take good care of her and please don't tell anyone about her pregnancy we want to surprise them okay" he said and the housekeeper nooded her head "welcome ma'am I'll try my best to take care of you" she said and bowed,Jennie was suprised at how Lucas handled the situation easily,now she didn't have to worry on how to introduce herself,she looked kind and mature which reminded her of her Nanny,she didn't know whether she still works for her family or she had quit,she smiled "thank you,I'll be in your care from now on" she said and both began to eat,The food was delicious,she enjoyed the meal and ate until she was full.

After diner jennie was sitting on the bed,deep in thoughts there was a knock on the door and Lucas come in,he saw her seating on the bed,he cleared his throat "are you okay with the housekeeper knowing about your pregnancy?,I did that so she can know what to do and prepare for you and also take good extra care of you" he asked nervously,"I'm okay but remember our agreement you can't make such decision without asking me especially about my pregnacy" she said.Though she knew his intentions were good she didn't like how he casually told about her pregnancy to the housekeeper without asking her opinion,she didn't want people to know she was pregnant that's why she has always hid her pregnacy,Lucas gulped and nodded " I'm sorry,I won't repeat that" he said,he knew he was wrong though he didn't mind her pregnacy he shouldn't make decisions that aren't his to make even if they are married or Jennie might start regretting accepting to sign the contract "from now on I'll consult you first,hope you aren't angry" "I'm not " she said suprised by his apology,he was her boss she didn't expect him to apologize."Okay,you should sleep I have some work to do in my study room,I'll come later good night" he said and left.Jennie sighed,for the first time she was going to share a room with a man,she was anxious because that man was her contract husband and boss,she wore her pajamas and took her medicine and went to bed,the lights were on she hoped it would soon be morning.

Lucas was in his study room reading some documents,he was feeling extremely anxious that it was hard to concentrate on the papers.Now he was married to the woman he loved and soon he will get his inheritance,but something was bothering him and that's Jennie,he knew she agreed to marry him in return for something and what she had asked made him anxious,she wanted Damon and he knew who Damon was,what he did and what he was capable of.He didn't understand why she wanted Damon,who really was she?what was her past?,why did she need Damon?why is she hiding her pregnancy?,who was the father of her child?,why was she isolating herself from others?whats the secrets she is hiding?,why was she working as a secretary despite coming from a rich family,what happened between her and her family? Lucas wanted to know all of these.After working for him for more than a month he had noticed how she was,he knew for someone to close herself in,no friends or relatives,not wishing to talk about themselves they must have a dark and ugly past or maybe they have been hurt beyond words.If he wanted he could investigate about her past but he didn't want to,if she falls in love with him and later she knows he investigated her background it might bring problems in their relationship,he had done the necessary investigation and he didn't want to go deep,he knew she was a daughter of a billionare,had a elder brother,where she studied,her major,her working experience.He had used a contract to get close to her and know more about her,though he didn't lie when he said he needed to have a wife in order to get his inheritance,he would have gotten someone else to be his contracted wife but he choose her with hidden intentions,he stood up and left he had other business to take care of,he knew it was going to be hard but he had to make her fall in love with him before they divorce.

Lucas stood infront of a big mansion,he went inside and found his friends discussing something."You're finally here" Chris said,Lucas sat on the couch "mmmh,what's the urgent matter you wanted to talk about?" he asked,Chris stood up and left "you don't look good,something wrong?" Aiden asked and Lucas shook his head.After some minutes Chris come with some documents and a glass,he poured whiskey in the glass and gave it to Lucas."There is a new job,the heir of the Simon's family has been kidnapped by the Alberts" he said and handed over the documents to Lucas,he read the documents with a frown "this again?" he said "they have made a good offer,what should we do?these people have been causing alot of troubles to the elites,we have to do something, if we don't we might loose clients" said Chris.Lucas was deep in thoughts,he sighed "I don't like getting involved with that family but they have gone too far,kidnapping such a young boy,rescue the boy and be careful he shouldn't be hurt,don't you force unless it's necessary you all know what to do" he said and both nodded their heads."It's decided then,let's have some drinks" Chris said," I'm not in the mood let's do that later,I have to go" he said and stood up to leave "are you going home?it's already late you should spent the rest of the night here you can go back tomorrow" Aiden said."No,I'll leave, report to me once everything is done also tell the boys I'll meet them soon" he said and left. Chris and Aiden looked at each other confused,"did he just refuse to have drinks with us,he didn't even drink the whiskey you gave him" Aiden said,Chris too was suprised by his behaviour,when he come to the mansion he always spent the night,but he just come to talk about their new case and left hurriedly that was unlike him."Maybe he has something else to do" he said "I think something is bothering him" Aiden said and both continued what they were doing.

Lucas got home,he didn't want to drink or spent the night at his other mansion,he was now married he needed to be home with his wife besides if Jennie knew he didn't come home she might misunderstand him.He went to the guest room,took a shower and went to their room,he slowly walked in,the lights were still on,he saw Jennie sleeping soundly she wasn't covered with a blanket,he sighed and covered her with the blanket.He was stared at Jennie,he found himself mesmerized by her and his heart began beating wildly,he sat on the couch and stared at her,he was about to switch off the lights when he remembered her phobia,he lied on the couch looking at her as she frowned in her sleep,a smile appeared on his face,he hoped everything will be fine.
