Doesn't know how to cook(chapter 34)

Jennie sat on the hospital bed eating fruit salad brought by Lucas"aren't you going home?" she asked "I'll be spending the nights here until you're discharged I'll sleep on the couch" he replied "there is no need for that I'm fine besides I'm at the hospital nothing will happen to me" "I know but the doctor said you should have someone to take care of you Nanny isn't at home"

"Oooh,but what about the company" "have taken care of that no need to worry" "thank you Lucas" she said and Lucas nodded his head.The doctor had told him to take good care of her, first pregnancy is always difficult she needed someone by her side incase she needed anything,"have never had someone to take care of me all my life,my life has always been hard" she said "you have me so no need to worry, the doctor said you should avoid stress,Jennie I don't know what happened to you in the past but please you have to take care of yourself forget what happened in the past it will only make you sad you're pregnant thinking about something unpleasant isn't good for your health and the baby" he said,Jennie looked at him with teary eyes and nooded her head "I'll try" she replied,she can never forget what happened to her but she can try to avoid thinking about it because it will only make her feel sad and depressed,Jennie stayed in the hospital for more three days after she was discharged.

Lucas drove her home,the house was exactly how she had left it but she didn't see the men she always saw who worked for Lucas "I'll go to take a shower" she said and left.Lucas went into the kitchen he opened the fridge and realised there was no food in the fridge,he sighed now what are we going to eat he thought massaging his temples,his nanny wasn't around,Jennie was told to rest and avoid doing strenuous work and he didn't know how to cook.Lucas was slicing the onions with teary eyes,he took his handkerchief and wiped his eyes ,"this is so hard than I thought" he said looking at the video playing on his phone,since he didn't know how to cook he decided to watch a video on how to cook,Jennie who had been standing on the door chuckled, Lucas was starled turned to look at her "you're done" he said feeling embarrassed "yes, you can't even slice onions how do you expect to cook?" she asked with a smile on her face,Lucas scratched his head "I never had time to learn how to cook,there is no food in the fridge so I thought I might try cooking" he said."I'll cook" she said "no the doctor said you need to rest" "but I already had enough rest,let me cook or we won't have anything to eat" she said walking inside the kitchen,"what did you want to cook?" she asked,Jennie looked at the ingredients and knew what he wanted to cook."you should go and rest once the food is ready I'll call you" "I'll stay to help you" he said "okay then help me wash the vegetables " Lucas nodded and began washing the vegetables Jennie was watching his every movements and she couldn't help but laugh "I'll do it" she said taking the vegetables from his hands "am I doing it wrong?" he asked "if you wash them like that they won't be clean" she said "watch closely" she said and began washing the vegetables.Lucas was looking at her as she washed the vegetables and he was amazed on how well she was cleaning the vegetables just like how he had seen on the video.

Lucas stood near the kitchen counter watching her as she cooked,the kitchen was filled with delicious aroma that he couldn't help salivating.He hardly ate home made food he was a picky eater and choose to only eat at a expensive restaurant but the aroma made him anticipate for the food,he looked at Jennie and a smile appeared on his face,he had thought he would never fall in love again after what his ex girlfriend did,he had thought he would never move on but now he had fallen for a better and beautiful lady.His eyes kept on following her every move Jennie turned to look at him and was suprised that he was looking at her "the food is ready" she said Lucas looked away and cleared his throat "it smells nice" he said,Jennie smiled "hand me the plates" she said and Lucas gave her plates and she served the food both carried the food to the dining room."It's really delicious,I never knew you could cook so well better than the food in the restaurant" Lucas said his eyes brightening he was eating like someone who had not ate for days ,Jennie smile "I'm glad you liked it" she replied."Of can eat this kind of food everyday it won't take long before I have a pot belly" he said jokingly,Jennie smiled "I'll cook for us until Nanny comes back,also I can cook for you if you want to,I'll be staying at home for a very long time doing nothing since I'll still receive my salary then cooking for you" "okay then" he replied They both ate their food while chatting about random stuff, after they were done Lucas offered to help her wash the untensil,they washed the dishes together like real couples Jennie decided to take a walk in the garden afterwards she sat in the living room watching a movie,Lucas was in his study room in a video call meeting with investors he was in a good mood and the meeting was going smoothly after three hours the meeting come to an end,he joined Jennie in the living room "you like watching action movies?" he asked curiously "they are my favourite" she replied without taking her eyes off the tv,Lucas smiled "me too,but I thought women prefer watching romantic movies?" "it depends everyone has a different taste" she replied and both continued watching the movie.

After dinner Lucas was in his study room with his laptop there was a confidential email he had received as he read it his eyes turned cold and ruthless he gritted his teeth and clenched his fist "how dare they" he said in a cold voice he shut down his laptop and stood up heading to his room.He raised his hand to knock but decided not to,maybe she is asleep he thought, it was almost 11:00pm he pushed the door open and was shocked at the scene he saw,Jennie who had just finished taking a shower wrapped herself with a towel her hair wet,she turned around and saw Lucas she gasped in shock and quickly turned her back on him a flush appeared on her face "w...why didn't you knock" she asked feeling embarrassed Lucas looked at her and gulped hard his eyes trailed to her beautiful pale legs,he feasted on her body with his eyes,shamelessly checking her out suddenly he felt like the temperature in the room had changed he felt hot,his heartbeat increased "why aren't you saying anything" asked Jennie she was confused by his silence "I'm sorry I thought you were asleep" he said in a hoarse voice,after what had happened to her she had decided to never lock the door but now she was rethinking her decision "I'll go so you can change" he said but before he could turn around he saw a mark on her back he walked towards her to have a clear look, the mark on her body was a big X like someone had used a sharp object,Jennie was suprised by his behaviour but before she could say anything Lucas touched the mark on her back,she shivered due to the body contact she quickly turned and looked at Lucas "what are you doing" she asked with unpleased expression on her face Lucas come to his sense and took a few steps back "I'm sorry it's just that I have seen this kind of mark but I can't remember where,how did you get this mark" he asked "I don't want to talk about it" she said,Lucas nodded his head and left deep in thoughts.
