Getting up from what was a somehow exhausting nap, I was met with a blindfolded face hovering inches above my own. My lungs quickly contracted mid breath, causing me to almost choke in her face.
However I held it in.
A few absurdly long molasses steeped moments later, Tyvelia slowly pulled away, allowing me to catch my breath and sit up.
'Next time that happens I might just pass out!'
Tyvelia reached a pale hand beneath the bed and withdrew with what looked like thread from the shadows below. The dark, rigid, webbing seemed to almost click into place as she drew on it. Finally, as they finished snapping in, she then sat down on what appeared to be a three legged stool.
Scola had at this point woken up and slowly began to unfurl from the massive hill of carapace that she had become over the course of the night.
While Tyvelia simply… stared at me?
No real emotions that I could recognize. Neither the sadistic abomination that had killed Scola, nor the calm beauty that had awoken me in the cave pool.
So instead of waiting for an answer, I simply asked for one. I steadied myself, and thought over my words, once, and then twice, before finally saying them.
"May I ask what you are doing?"
A simple polite question.
It was all I could come up with.
It was all I could put together and boldly say.
And thus her answer was just as simple as my question.
"I am admiring my possession."
These words brought me back to reality. A cold reminder of my status right now. I wasn't just speaking to a deadly predator than had taken an interest in me. I was speaking to the immortal monarch of a fallen race. This was a being that held me at the same value as a silver coin. I was in an unfamiliar place, with a being that does not hold itself to the standards of my old world.
This must change.
However, first, I have much more to learn.
And so I began to plan out my next moves as Tyvelia admired her "possession".
…
If I had anything, it was my mind. The only thing that I could use to help myself right now was my brain and body. Other than that and my unknown healing talent, I was honestly out of luck. So I needed to make my own.
I needed weapons, food, knowledge and wisdom to survive. These four were basic requirements. Out of these I have confirmed one. And that's food.
So I need to change that. Apart from the basics, I have my trusty motorcycle helmet to protect my head. I have clothes on my back so that's got to count for something.
And I have my walking lace boots which I wear on the regular. That's probably the best thing I have on me besides the helmet.
"You seem to be thinking quite hard."
Tyvelia's soft voice invaded my thoughts, drawing me out of my shell with a piercing blind gaze.
At least when she was like this she was a little less threatening. I simply had to keep calm and speak.
"The entire process of transmigration was quite abrupt, I apologise."
I kept my words polite, however made no effort to lie and change my face. Though she might be able to see my face, I don't want her to think I am scheming against her by lying through expressions. Instead I will do my best to be indifferent and polite.
"I now have all the ingredients I require, if you could please remind me as to where the cooking utensils are?"
Tyvelia didn't even breathe. She was like a statue of sickly flesh, brittle bones, and thin blood. However the black slimy tail that trailed behind her was an absolute rejection of this frail image.
Finally, she responded and spoke in a voice laden with curiosity. "Alright then, follow me. We'll take a quicker shortcut since I have limited time anyways." The stool below her crumbled and then liquified as it stood, before returning to below the bed.
She then raised her hand slightly, before bringing her middle finger and thumb together.
'A snap?'
That was all I could think as every shadow in the room disappeared all together, leaving the room warped to the naked eye. It all happened in complete silence, without even the slightest whisper of a zephyr. However I couldn't even think about this insanity as a black ring formed behind Tyvelia, completely dark in nature. The sole thing I could liken it to was the gloom as it rippled, pulsated, and shuddered, small black bubbles slowly dripping off of it in every direction. It then began to spin as Tyvelia reached up to her blindfold, lifting only the tiniest edge.
And then it all went black.
I was not unconscious.
No.
I was made completely blind.
No, not even that, I was utterly senseless.
It was all gone, taste, touch, smell, sight, even my hearing.
Just an infinite inexistence.
…
I reawoke before attempting to expel everything in my stomach. I retched and tried to vomit, however nothing would come out. I could feel my stomach constrict and my throat go out of control, but no matter how hard my body attempted to vomit, there was almost nothing in my stomach to bring up into my throat.
Not that I could even begin to pay attention to this issue. Right now my entire body felt as though I was undergoing violent acupuncture. Pins and needles stabbed into me as my ears rang, a high whine that nearly split my skull screaming in my ears. My vision was completely white while my nose felt as though it were burning.
As pain wracked my body and I writhed on the floor, I couldn't even bear to scream.
I couldn't even think of pleading for mercy or wishing that this would end. All I knew was pain.
However, just as I thought I would lose my mind, my vision turned a tinge green. This green light slowly cooled my body and began to return my sight to me. My skin slowly began to numb as the pins and needles slowly subsided alongside the ringing in my ears. I then opened my once clenched shut eyes, allowing me to see some malformed outlines and strange shapes. As my eyes readjusted, all the pain disappeared, allowing me to see Tyvelia sitting on a silver throne in front of me.
Her soft voice pierced the veil of agony and chaos that reigned over my mind. It calm and cool, though firm as if she were reprimanding a child.
Yet despite this, her words would be seared into me for the rest of my life.
"Let this be a lesson from me to you. Don't ever think you can deceive me so casually again."
If this chapter feels weird, It was because it was a last minute publishing. This weekend I will write a lot more and of better quality.
