Chapter 27: Going to a Bar

They then arrived at their department, and Caspian immediately headed toward the laboratory to inform Scarlet about contacting the hospitals.

As he arrived, he opened the door and went in. "Hey, Scarlet."

Scarlet, who was currently listing something in a paper, turned her head to face Caspian as she said, "Hello, Detective."

Caspian couldn't help but smile wryly as he said, "I'm still confused as to why you insisted me to call you by your first name, but you don't even do the same."

Scarlet laughed as she replied. "You didn't ask, Caspian."

"Oh really? Because I'm pretty sure I did."

"Nevermind that. Did you come here for something?" Scarlet asked, immediately changing the subject.

"*Sigh* Don't just change the subject like that…. Well, you, I do have something. I would like you to contact the hospitals so we can get all the information. The warrant has already been approved."

"Wait, doesn't it take at least five days even if you have an affidav—" Scarlet said, but she was cut off by Caspian, who said, "Yes, but we managed to convince the judge to approve the warrant immediately."

"Nice! I'll contact the hospitals immediately!" Scarlet excitedly said as she put the documents she was holding on the table. "It'll probably take about a day or two for the hospitals to prepare it."

"Well, I'll go for now," Caspian said, and Scarlet nodded.

Caspian then left the room and headed toward his office. As he entered, he immediately picked up a broom as his somewhat clean freak senses told him to clean everything.

After about thirty minutes, he had already removed the dust from everywhere in the office. He had already wiped all the surfaces clean and sorted his stuff once more.

With a sigh, Caspian slumped down his chair and started to work on the mountain of paperwork situated on his desk.

A couple of hours later, Caspian finally finished the paperwork and placed the document in his drawer. As he glanced outside the window, he realized that it was already dark. Just as he laid down the document, he opened another drawer and so a nostalgic picture.

He picked it up, and he exasperatedly sighed. It was a picture of him, his mom, and his dad. With a bitter smile, he thought, 'Why did you have to die, dad?'

No matter how hard Caspian tried to think about why his dad was targeted, he simply didn't find anything. After contemplating for a while, he thought, 'Did dad have the Rh-null blood type…? I might have to ask mom about it sometime.'

He then stood up and grabbed a glass of water. Suddenly, a knock sounded on the door. Caspian then turned around to open it and saw Scarlet with a huge smile.

"Can I come in?" Scarlet asked.

"Oh, sure," Caspian said as he opened the door widely.

"Wow, your office is really clean," Scarlet looked around.

"I just cleaned it earlier. It was really dusty earlier," Caspian smiled bitterly.

"Ah, I see. Well, I only want to take a little of your time. The officers in this department decided to rent the bar to celebrate your and Sergeant Quinn's return."

Hearing that, Caspian was surprised as he was smiling wryly, "These bastards just wanted to make an excuse to go to the bar. Fine, we'll go, but they must make sure they don't drink that much."

Scarlet's face lightly glowed as she nodded her head while giving Caspian a note. "Okay, I'll make sure to tell them. And this is its location. It's somewhat far, at Leuford district."

"Oh, before I forget, the hospital said that they'll get it ready the day after tomorrow," as Scarlet said that, Caspian nodded.

"Wait, can I invite the people who were with me earlier?"

"I mean, sure, it's to celebrate you guys' return. You can do whatever you want," Scarlet smiled as she turned to leave the room.

As she left the room, Abby went inside and hugged Caspian, "Hey, Caspian~, what did you guys talk about?"

Caspian returned the hug as he said, "They rented out the bar to celebrate us returning."

"Huh, sounds like a certain drunkard's excuse," Abby laughed as she broke the hug and pointed at Caspian.

"Hey! You're the drunkard here," Caspian exclaimed, causing Abby to laugh louder.

"Well, it's fine; let them enjoy once in a while. Besides, it's Saturday today," Abby said as she turned around. "Let's go to your apartment first and inform the unit."

Caspian nodded as both of them left the station and drove straight to Caspian's apartment while Abby called the others.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Soon, they arrived, and as they entered the apartment, everyone was already there. Caspian then said, "We'll be able to get the document the day after tomorrow. After we get that, we'll have to see who has Rh-null, and we should try and locate where they are."

"Hm, I agree. We might manage to catch that person off-guard," Naida voiced out.

The others soon nodded as Lucia said, "If that's everything, we'll go and leave. We have more things to do."

"Ah, wait. Do you guys have time to go to a bar tonight? We were invited, so we might as well," Caspian smiled lightly.

Somehow, Lucia's eyes glowed as she exclaimed, "Oh, definitely! I fucking love booze."

Seeing that, Caspina couldn't help but think, 'Now that's a drunkard if I see one.'

"Well, since Lucia wants to go, might as well," Natalie said with a smile.

"It's been a while since I've last drank beer, so let's go," Irene said.

Naida just nodded lightly as everyone stood. All of them then entered the car with Caspian driving.

-------------------------------------------------------------

They finally arrived at the bar after a couple of minutes of traveling. They then left the car and headed straight for the door.

As they opened it, they saw about twenty of the officers from his department enjoying themselves with a couple of shots of beer. There were also some people from other departments joining in.

Caspian then spoke very loudly as the music had a high volume. "Don't get absolutely hammered, you fuckers. Not all of you have Sunday as your day off."

Since he was barely heard, only some gave him a thumbs up. He just smiled wryly as he led Abby and the others to find Scarlet, whose face was slightly red.

"I'm not that much of a lightweight, haha!" Scarlet laughed as she downed a shot of beer.

Some of the officers with her laughed as one of them said, "Doc, that's still your third shot!"

Caspian couldn't help but laugh at the scene. "Are you alright, Scarlet?"

"Oh, Caspian! I'm fine, just having some fun," she said groggily.

"I feel like you're already drunk," Caspian couldn't help but say.

"What!?" Scarlet exclaimed, "I don't feel drunk at all!"

Caspian smiled wryly as he looked at the officers, "Who here is a friend of Scarlet?"

One of the female officers then shouted, "Oh! I'll take care of her detective, don't worry. You and your team should enjoy yourselves!"

"Alright, I'll leave her to you," Caspian replied as he headed to the bartender with the others.

"Do you have some vodka?" Lucia said with sparkling eyes.

"Yes, we do, miss," the bartender replied as he performed all those fancy bartending tricks.

She smiled excitedly as she said, "I'll get a bottle."

The bartender obliged as he grabbed a bottle, and Lucia immediately grabbed it. She got a pack of cigarettes from her pocket and lit it with her lighter.

She then let out a puff of smoke and immediately drank a mouthful of vodka. "Phew! That's more like it, none of that weak shit."

"Hey, hey, slow down!" Natalie said I'm a worried tone while having a wry smile.

"Whiskey," Naida said shortly.

"I would love some margarita, if you may," Irene requested.

"I would like a glass of red wine," Natalie said.

"Make that two bottles of red wine. I'm sure Caspian is dying for some," Abby said with a cheeky smile.

"Exactly," Caspian said with a laugh as he gave a thumbs up. The bartender smiled and immediately started doing their orders one by one, and after that, they all started drinking at their own pace.

Scarlet, who was bragging about not being lightweight, was already knocked out and was being accompanied by her friend. On the other hand, Lucia didn't look drunk even after drinking two whole bottles of vodka.

Naida and the others were just enjoying their drinks slowly and savoring them. Caspian and Abby, on the other hand, kept looking at each other weirdly as they soon went somewhere else to do something that most would probably expect.

Irene, who saw that, grinned widely as she decided to follow.

After a while, she returned with a slightly flushed face as she coughed. "One more margarita, please."

"Are you alright, Irene?" Natalie asked. Irene just nodded her head as if nothing was wrong.

After about an hour, Caspian and Abby finally returned, their bodies covered in sweat and their faces dyed with a tinge of red.

"Did you two go to a sauna?" Naida asked.

Lucia simply snickered as she said, "Don't act clueless; you know they probably fucked nonstop."

Natalie smiled wryly at that while glancing slightly at both Caspian and Abby.

Irene just coughed as she continued sipping on her margarita.

Soon, one of the officers from the Leuford district, who were drinking moderately, noticed that his radio vibrated. A voice then came out.

"*Static* Requesting officers to come to Building 217, West side at Alf street for a code 187. We also request coming in contact with a detective from whichever department to come and get things dealt with. Our detectives are all out of duty. *Static*"

The officer then asked his friend from Caspian's department where he was and hurriedly ran toward him as he said with a loud voice.

"Detective, there's a murder!"
