People From The Army

Mizuki Rei felt that it was possible since their group did not carry anything too valuable. All the food was hidden in Lilian Mo's space, even the Marauder so it wouldn't get stolen.

Zhang Youji sneezed, the crystal core he was holding fell on the floor, catching their attention.

The child felt flustered by all the eyes and quickly picked up his item.

"Xiao Ji, I think it's not convenient for you to carry that in your hand." Lin Jiaojiao looked at Lilian Mo. "Big sister Mo, do you have something in your space that can be used to carry this?"

"Will a pouch work?" Lilian Mo showed it to them.

"It will work. That's great." Lin Jiaojiao accepted the item and passed it off to Zhang Youji who placed the crystal core inside.

"Xiao Ji, don't show this to anyone, okay? If someone asks, tell them that it's just a shiny stone."

Fu Yangzhu snorted. "Who would believe that?"

Lin Jiaojiao threw him a look. This guy was always so insensitive and a killjoy!

She ignored him and patted Zhang Youji on the head. "Xiao Ji, don't listen to that meanie. You only need to listen to Big sister. Big sister is saying this for your own good. This Level three crystal core is very valuable and if someone finds it, they will try to snatch it from you!"

"So, what should we do now? Do they know that our team has a Level three crystal core?" Fu Yangzhu asked, pretending that Lin Jiaojiao hadn't spoken just now.

"I don't see any reason why the army would surround this place. Maybe this place has something they want or maybe they do know about the Level three crystal core in our possession." Mizuki Rei was worried.

They have recently found out that crystal cores in the apocalypse were the best kind of treasures. The same can be said for resins. If they were in a base, this thing could certainly be exchanged for a huge amount of food.

Additionally, when the meteor fell on Earth, the world was plunged into a chaotic era, there were no rules or laws; power was the only principle here. The weak were the prey of the strong, and only the strong ones could rule and survive.

Therefore, when one was holding something as precious as a crystal core, especially a crystal core of a Level three mutant, it would be normal for the others to cast their eyes on them and to try and covet them, by hook or by crook.

Lilian Mo frowned. She also did not know why the army would be here. Furthermore, they couldn't have been followed just because of the crystal core since Zhang Youji remained inside the Marauder throughout the whole ride while escaping the horde.

They hardly even mentioned the crystal core and everyone had a tacit understanding to leave it with the child since it was his only token from his deceased mother.

It was impossible to be followed because she would have noticed it which means that the army probably wants something in this place. But what?

Mu Qingqing tugged at Lilian Mo's clothes. "Momo, do you think that we'll have to fight them?" She asked worriedly.

"Qingqing, don't be scared. I'll protect you." Mizuki Rei comforted, not wanting his fiance to feel distressed.

"Xiao Ji, give me that crystal core for now. I'll hide it in my space. We are dealing with people from the army. Even if they are soldiers, robberies and murders are pretty common in this era." Lilian Mo said. When the others heard this, they all wore a grim look, knowing that what she said was true.

Zhang Youji's eyes widened. He knew that what she said was true. He also knew what robberies and murders are because he saw them through other people's memories.

Being killed and having your things stolen from you were some of the common things he had seen.

He handed it over without much fuss. "Big sister Mo, please protect my Mom's core."

Lilian Mo nodded, storing it in her space.

"Hah." Lin Jiaojiao exhaled. "Mutants aren't the only dangerous beings out there. Big sister Mo is right... We can't relax our guard."

At the moment, the fighting capacity of the members hadn't recovered fully because not only did they fought a half-mutant but they had to ran away from a horde of rodents that had mutated.

Everyone had eaten their meal but they were still a bit fatigued and tired. It was late at night, a really bad time to face a confrontation with people since it was the time where people are sleepy and needed to take a rest.

None of them were soldiers but at the very least, they accepted the situation. Who would worry about their sleep now that people from the army are here?

"They haven't started attacking yet, so maybe we should pull out first. Perhaps, we still have a chance to run," Lin Jiaojiao suggested.

"Let's wait for the Boss and Brother Qian. Everyone needs to be here before we decide to do anything." Fu Yangzhu said seriously.

Lin Jiaojiao pursed her lips and gripped the katana on her back. She really did not like people from the army, let alone soldiers. Many times, her big brother was invited to be a medic at the military camp even before the meteor fell.

She did not like those people. When she was separated from her big brother, the army was there but they did nothing to help the poor and innocent people who needed their help and protection.

For that reason, she felt slightly resentful towards these people who wore military uniforms.
