177 Not The Same Person

Lu Jingren didn't immediately continue because he raised his head to observe the expression on Lilian Mo's face. When seeing the clear recognition in her eyes, at that moment, he knew that he wasn't wrong and his assumptions had been right.

"How old are you, Lilian?"

"Why are you suddenly asking this?"

"I would like to know."

Lilian Mo wanted to tell him how pointless his question was. "That's surprising coming from someone who said that he wouldn't date a minor."

"But you aren't a minor?"

"..."

Lilian Mo became quiet.

"Before, I was already suspicious that there was something you were hiding. You knew too much and was really fearless." Lu Jingren said as he tapped his chin with his fingers.

"In fact, I find it hard to believe how a minor who is only sixteen is capable of having that kind of look in their eyes. That...is to assume that you are only sixteen."

"Hah. What is so hard to believe? I can't glare at people?"

"No. It isn't that." Lu Jingren said while shaking his head.

"I'm talking about the look in your eyes as though you were used to killing people. It is something you would only see in a murderer. It doesn't make sense. You're even a minor. From what I heard, you were a diligent student whose grades were top-notched. How? Why?" Lu Jingren continued. It sounded as if he too didn't believe his own words.

"If it were me, Qianmo, Yangzhu, or Rei, it wouldn't be so hard to understand because we were from elite families. We've always been fighting to survive even if it means killing people. But, Lilian....you are an orphan who has lived a relatively peaceful life. How did you turn into someone like this? What kind of person are you, Lilian?" When he was done speaking, Lu Jingren's blue eyes gazed at her deeply, almost as if he wanted to know every secret she possessed.

"I want to know. I really want to know. You've made me curious now."

Lilian Mo's eyes became cold and unfeeling.

"Why are you changing the topic?" Lilian Mo stood up while speaking, completely ignoring the things he said.

"I was asking you if you had done something inside the space."

"Does it matter?" Lu Jingren inhaled. "Lilian... I thought long and hard about it. That girl from my dreams must have been you."

"You are being delusional."

"At this point in time, anything is possible." Lu Jingren retorted. He straightened and walked over to her.

"I want to ask you again. How old are you?"

Lilian Mo stared and Lu Jingren stared back, neither one backing down from the staring competition though both of them knew it was only to stall.

Lilian Mo's face was very calm, her lips forming a lazy smile.

"Is your memory bad? I'm sixteen."

"My memory is quite good, Lilian. Thank you for asking, but lying when you've already exposed yourself makes you seem stupid."

Lilian Mo laughed and pointed at herself. "I'm stupid?"

"Do you find this matter funny?"

"No, no." Lilian Mo said while shaking her head. "It isn't funny. On the contrary, it makes me feel angry."

"Ah...you also said that before."

Lilian Mo glared at him coldly. All her pretenses completely dropped as she looked at him as if he was a stranger.

Lu Jingren pursed his lips.

In one of his dreams, his fiancee said the same thing when that other him forbade her to fight.

"Do you find this matter funny?"

"No, no." She said while shaking her head. "It isn't funny. On the contrary, it makes me feel angry... I want to help you! Why can't you understand that?"

Lu Jingren took a deep breath.

"I want to help you, Lilian..." He started. "But I want you to understand that this isn't the past. Think rationally because he and I are not the same person."
