Little Rei Isn't Weak

"That was cool!" Fu Yangzhu suddenly appeared between them." That's a barrier ability, huh? It looks like glass, not like a barrier at all. I also want to try destroying it! Maybe, Little Rei is just weak!"

"Fu Yangzhu, you show off! What's a wood ability user going to do against a barrier ability user?" Mizuki Rei challenged haughtily.

Fu Yangzhu puffed out his chest. "Little Rei, I'm already at Level two. My wood ability isn't offensive but it has its own perks. Just like this!"

A vine shot out from the ground and wrapped itself around Mizuki Rei's feet. Another one slapped him from behind, making him collapse face-first on the ground.

"Hahaha! So weak!"

"Fu Yangzhu, you bastard!" Mizuki Rei used wind blades to cut the vines before standing up, ready to go head to head with the brat.

"That's enough." Mu Qianmo placed a hand on Fu Yangzhu, looking at him in a disapproving manner as if he had done something childish.

"Eh, Brother Qian, I was only having fun with Little Rei."

"Little Rei is older than you. Respect your seniors." Mu Qianmo reminded.

"Boooo! Little Rei is Little Rei to me." Fu Yangzhu, pouting like a child.

"This.... brat...!" Mizuki Rei was shaking. He had just lost some face infront of his fiancée. How was he to make up with this except to beat the crap out of the brat that had humiliated him?

Lilian Mo approached them. "Brother Qian, why don't you try destroying Jiaojiao's barrier? Brother Qian is a metal ability user, right?"

"Hmmm... I am also curious if this barrier is formidable. It'll be useful in case of life-threatening situations." Mu Qianmo smiled at Lin Jiaojiao. "Jiaojiao, I'll be troubling you."

Lin Jiaojiao blushed when she saw his smile and quickly shook her head. "Big brother Qian, it's fine! I don't mind it at all!"

Mu Qianmo was a little amused. Lin Jiaojiao looked a lot like Mu Qingqing when she was younger and he felt strangely fond of the girl as if he had acquired another little sister.

'Ah well. Qingqing only knows how to follow Little Sister Mo now and Little Sister Mo isn't affectionate anymore.' He thought.

The two girls had been distant lately.

Maybe it was due to the apocalypse but he felt that things wouldn't be the same from now on especially when he noticed that Lilian Mo acted very guarded against everyone except for the girls. This might seem like biased treatment but he was smart enough to notice that it was more than just that.

Also, Lilian Mo seemed like she didn't like the Boss and was merely compromising due to the girls.

'We can only wait and watch as things unveil themselves.' Mu Qianmo said to himself, preparing to attack Lin Jiaojiao's barrier. Like before, he saw the transparent film materializing in thin air. It did look like glass and seemed very fragile but from what he saw when Mizuki Rei attacked, its looks were deceiving.

Mu Qianmo covered his right arm with metal, encasing it as he braced himself, gathering energy in his right arm before pouring it into his punch. The shockwave he felt when it hit against the barrier startled him and the 'bzzt, bzzt' sound resounded in the area as the barrier flickered, looking like it was about to be destroyed but to his surprise, the cracks were mending before his eyes.

Lin Jiaojiao was sweating as she maintained her barrier. It used all of her focus and she was trying her best not to be distracted. However, against a Level two ability user, she was still defeated and the film shattered, dispersing. Mu Qianmo stopped before his punch could land on Lin Jiaojiao.

The small shockwave from the blow made the girl's hair fly upwards, making it look disheveled.

He was honestly surprised. He struggled against the barrier for a few seconds and if Lin Jiaojiao was on the same level as him, he might have done more than just struggle.

His face brightened.

"This ability is admirable." He praised.

Fu Yangzhu whistled. "Hah! So it's Little Rei who's weak! Brother Qian managed to destroy it with just one attack."

"Little Rei isn't weak." Mu Qianmo said, defending Mizuki Rei before the latter could explode.

"I did struggle against the barrier. It's stronger than I expected. It is probably the difference in level that allowed me to defeat it. Besides, if it was Yangzhu, your wood ability wouldn't be a good match. You rely on sneak attacks but against the ultimate defense, the damage would be mediocre at best. And it looks like Jiaojiao here can mend the barrier. The speed is pretty slow but it seems to require a lot of focus and concentration. Yangzhu, you probably need to catch Jiaojiao off guard before she could erect a barrier, otherwise, your wood ability would do no damage."

Fu Yangzhu gaped when he heard this while Mizuki Rei gloated, rejoicing. He placed an arm over Fu Yangzhu and shook his head.

"Tch, tch. Fu Yangzhu, now you know your limits. What wood ability? Against Jiaojiao, you're no different than a cockroach!"
