COLLEGE

Things go wrong after Jerry hooks up with a stranger at an all freshers party. * * * Bro, you gotta see the way your eyes were on her." He laughed, but less loudly this time." I won't lie, I've done it before, every guy does, she's beautiful, you gotta give it to her." "Well she's cute." She is! "She's beautiful, you know it, that's why you had a one night stand with her." I almost choked on my burger. I had to take a drink before I talked again. "What the hell man?!" I whispered loudly. "What?" "Why did you have to say that out loud like that?" "Oh. Chill, these people are too busy enjoying their burgers to listen to our Convo." He said really chilling about it. I remembered the main thing I was worrying about when I saw her earlier this morning. I didn't use a condom when we were grinding our bodies against each other that night! 'What was I thinking?!' That's what I would ask myself if I didn't have a chance to use one because I did. When I was carrying her, her legs wrapped around my waist tightly, into the room, through rough kisses, I had stopped our liplock, and had told her I didn't have a condom. She said she had some; both male's and female's actually but she didn't want us to interrupt what we were having at that particular moment. I would ask why she had both male and female condoms but she was right, it was too hot, too pleasurable, a moment to interrupt. "I can just take a pill after." She had said.

Just like she asked, I stood waiting for her. I almost called her back, worried as I was but then I saw her walking towards me. She was wearing an Orange dress, it was knee-length and its arm had a thin sleeve that made it look sleeveless from afar. When she was almost near to where I was, I went to her.

"Are you okay?" It was the first thing I asked her when I got to her. She just nodded. She was obviously lying, I had lots of questions but I didn't know if to ask them or not.

"Hold on," I took her arm and look at it, they were bruises on her right arm; I checked her left arm and it was the same. Around her wrist was red.

"Ann..."

"I said I'm fine!" She took her arms back from my hold."Can we just go?" She asked looking away.

"Go where?"

"Where else? To my place? Do you want us to still stay here? It's getting dark already. Why did you even come later than I asked?" She seemed mad but also hurt at the same time.

"Did you come in your car?" I asked as I followed her, she had already started walking out of the park.

"Yeah, I did." She said dryly, throwing her keys in my direction. I caught it before it could fall to the ground.

While I drove us to her place, she was quiet, disturbingly quiet with her arms folded and her gaze lost.

We got to her apartment and I parked the car where I did the last time. She came down from the car and immediately headed upstairs.

I sighed after I locked the car. Going up behind her, it was quiet just like in the car. I wondered if I was just following her upstairs to hand over her car keys to her.

We got to her apartment's door and she put her into her purse. She took a bunch of keys out of it and unlocked the door. After that, she went in, still without a word. I stood outside, not knowing if she wanted me to go in with her because it seemed her roommate wasn't home.

"Jerry?!" I heard her call after a while of my standing outside. Was about to go in to answer her call when she came back out."Why are you standing there? Do you not wanna come in?" She asked, her eyes looked fatigued.

"I do," I replied, following her inside immediately. She closed the door behind her when I came in with her.

"Are you hungry?" She asked, going to her kitchen. I noticed she wasn't in her flats anymore, she was wearing a flower-patterned flip-flop now.

"Uhm," I didn't know how to respond at first because I didn't even know if I was or not. And besides, why was she asking, did she want to cook? I couldn't have her cooking for me, not with her condition.

"No," I replied and saw her right brow arch with surprise.

"Really?" She asked again."Lily made some rice congee, told her I was craving it and she made it before she left to hang with our friends."

"She can make congee?"

"Yeah. You don't wanna have some?"

"....." I just shrugged and watched her hold up her hair in a rough bun before going to the kitchen.

A few minutes later, she came out with a dish in hand. Setting it on the low table in the living room, she returned to the kitchen. Coming back again, two glasses in her hand and a pack of fruit juice in both her hands, she sat on the sofa with her legs crossed.

"My dad will kill me if he found out I eat somewhere else apart from the dining table, lol," She said before reaching for the dish to the table."We can eat together," She smiled to my surprise.

I couldn't understand her mood swings sometimes. She was angry at the park and then sad just on our way here and now she was smiling.

"You brought just one spoon." I pointed out to her, trying to adjust to her new mood.

"Yeah, you can feed me while you eat." She smiled more.

"You want me to feed you?"

"Yeah?" She bit her lips amidst a little giggle.

Wanting to make her happy, I took the dish from her to feed her. I guess she wanted to be treated like a baby today.

I almost asked her about the call earlier and who the guy was but I changed my mind, I didn't want her mood to change again.

Watching her chew the food in her mouth slowly, I couldn't help but smile. She was charming in whatever she did, even eating.

Her roughly packed hair had some strands falling over her face and neck. She didn't mind them, she just wanted the heavy mass of it packed up and didn't mind the little ones over her forehead.

"So what did the doctor say?" I asked to start a conversation.

"The usual. I ran some tests, I'm okay according to the results." She opened her mouth for me to feed her another spoon of the congee.

"Did you take the walk he recommended?" I asked and she stopped chewing, making me feel like I asked a question that shouldn't be asked.

"No. Thanks to you." She said with her mouth full. She gave me an angry look."What were you doing anyway? Why didn't you come when I asked?" She questioned after she was done chewing the food in her mouth.

"I'm sorry." I just said.

"Yeah, you are sorry. You know it's your fault Jason saw me today at the park, if you had come earlier then I wouldn't have been sitting under that tr..." She paused. I think she just realized that she said something she didn't want to say.

"Who's Jason?" I asked to know.

"Forget it, forget all I just said." She looked away, shaking her head as she did so.

"Are you okay?" I had to query because her eyes seemed to have gotten sad when she mentioned this Jason guy.
