“Oh my God.” Owen clutched his head, the hair fluffing around his fingers. “Are you sure? No one ever told me. If Jamison and Evelyn knew, they would have said something, right?”

“Jamison was in denial about the whole thing. Thought Dad was in a bad mood and would get over it someday. Evey…I don’t know what she thought, but maybe if she did know, she didn’t say anything because she didn’t want to scare you.” Cole cleared his throat. “As for the whole ‘getting over being gay’ thing, it sounds like you were bicurious, not gay. After all, you are sexually attracted to your wife, right? And she said you tried for years to have Sarah so you two must have…well, tried a lot.”

“We did.” Owen smoothed out his ruffled hair in a self-conscious way. “The fact that we couldn’t for so long…I know this isn’t how it works, but…I was afraid that I secretly was gay and that made me sterile somehow.”
