Anthony's Brothers

Although it was quite dark, the full moonlight was penetrating every nooks and crannies of the naturally built horizontal maze. The maze appeared more spooky and eerie at night, as expected. But thankfully everything wasn't all meld in massive sombrousness, due to the full moon that was dispersing its light above Earth, and Alaska to be precised.

So yes of course, blatantly fatigued Flower could still discern unwaveringly eventhough it's quite obscure.

Flower was still ambulating, not like she had any other objectives to choose from anyway.

Where she was at this instant doesn't possess any trees or shrubs. No bushes could even be seen there. It was a one way path, a large mountains was present at her right side, likewise her left side. Seeming like a colossal wall. It was either she goes backwards or she continues to go forward, there was no clear path leading to the left or to the right, simply because it was already contained by a very massive and high mountain.

Flower couldn't help but wonder if truly this horizontal maze was built by some ancient beings or it's just naturally created that way, due to it appearing so mysterious. Flower kept walking until she was led to a place where the maze was splitted into three paths. One was by her right side, while one was at her left, and the third one being the one which she had been treading beforehand, which was leading to a large wilderness which she could see from afar and which would take her weeks to get to.

Flower couldn't decipher which one to pick at the moment. She could barely even make a proper decision now, because so far, the decision she had been making had only been landing her into nothing but outright trouble. Presently, she knew better than scurrying herself into making any hasty decision.

'I should just keep treading the one I have been treading beforehand.' Flower concluded. Assuring herself with a delicate nod.

Initially Flower chose the first one because, she had been treading it all along and had already seen that only a thick, creepy forest was up ahead. She knew that already. Whereas, she literally knows nothing about the entryway that just suddenly appeared amidst her left and right. What if it led to a volcano, or what if it led to some bears' resting zone, then she would be doomed, besides she couldn't see what's up ahead because it was dark and she needed to start walking anyways. So therefore Flower choose the one which she already knew where it lead to, and then began walking upon it.

Flower continued walking hopefully, with an expressionless facial look. Flower could already sensed that the snow was starting to become more intensed, meaning, an immerse snowstorm would soon momentarily approach.

And like an old hag Flower continued walking on.

'HOWL!'

Flower adapted a stop. After hearing sounds of howling. And of course, she knows a particular animal that likes to howl a lot.

'Wolves?!' she panicked.

Of course she initially knows that wolves were rampant in Alaska. Since bears are part of the dog family, they were then also rampant in Alaska, and then wolves are also part of the dog family, so of course they were also rampant in Alaska.

Since the sounds of the howling seems quite faraway from her, Flower basically decided to ignore them. Then she advanced forward again.

However, as she incrementally advanced bit by bit, so did the howlings of the wolves got nearer and high pitched. Additionally what Flower was presently speculating wasn't a single wolf, they sounded like dozens, as they kept howling progressively.

Flower didn't know if it was to make a stop again, and just sleep then and there for the night, as it was nighttime already. Notwithstanding, she wanted to take the fact that the road was in a straight line to her advantage. By the way, going in a straight line is always faster than going in a zigzag pattern.

Flower kept going on and on. And when the howling was becoming more and more intensified. She began developing doubts.

'What if I end up crossing paths with some vicious wolves,' she panicked. 'Perhaps I should just go back and choose from either left or right.'

Although she was contemplating profusely. Even so, she was still pilgriming farther into the path that the howling was being manufactured. However, soon, Flower could no longer perceive any of those howlings noises anymore.

'I wonder what happened. Should I be happy or sad about this?'

Putting two and two together, Flower began to rethink everything. 'What if they had stop howling because they're being distracted by something else…?'

'Something like…'

'An humans' scent!'

Flower instantaneously began to shiver in dread. Solely because she was the only human here, at least so far.

"Damnit!"

But then again Flower contemplated about the whole situation. 'The road is in a straight lines, and if there's a wolf nearby or in my front, then I'd have percepted it by now, isn't it?' she questioned herself.

'But then again. This place is so complicated, what if there's truly wolves nearby and I just couldn't see it yet because it's already dark?'

Running her hands across her hairs roughly. She contemplated about what to do next if it was to keep moving like before, solely because, going backwards to seek a new path, might just be as perilous as going forward. None was safe, thus it literally didn't matter which she decided to advance.

Out of nowhere, a foul, obscene and irritating smell began pervading the environment including Flower's nose. It perceives so despicable and awful that she couldn't help but want to vomit, if not that she had once vomited everything from her stomach beforehand.

Casting both her hands upon her smelling sense. She continued going. Although after casting her hands upon her nose, it still did close to nothing in eradicating the awful smell.

Later on, Flower reached the stage that she couldn't bare that awful smell anymore, it was so disgusting to the core.

'What could be smelling this bad? Oh heavens!' she thought, wiggling her head discomfortingly.

Momentarily after that thought. She spontaneously hide behind the protruded part of the mountain after catching sight of some huge dog like creature, parading the area. She was so shocked.

'Wolves! I was right.'

Taking another peek at them. She could now vividly see that, truly they were wolves as their eyes glowed orange at night. But she couldn't tell what colours they were since it was dark already. However this wasn't the only thing she saw. Flower could also now accurately discern where the awful smell that was capable of malfunctioning one's smelling sense was coming from.

Squinting her eyebrows, Flower gritted her teeth harshly. The smell was so disgusting, and the sight of it too was gross, that she couldn't help but use her hoodie to cover her nose.

The vicious wolves that Flower was perceiving were feasting on their kill, a carcass . The dead animal that they were feasting on was already rotten, decayed and obscene, it was the nightmare behind the pollution of the air.

Flower couldn't tell what type of animal was it that died or which they killed. She just felt disgusted by the sight of it, that she couldn't even stare at it abundantly. But the animal looked quite massive, and juicy.

Flower grunted.

'No wonder they're happy. And have been howling since morning like crazy.'

'Anyways, I should quickly get away from here before they spot me.'

Flower tiptoed away from there, and gradually moved away from their presence. She hated everything about the whole place, be it the wolves, be it the smell, be it their howlings.

Now, theirs basically not much left for Flower to do than to walk to go back to the path leading to either left or right, which she had seen beforehand whilst treading here. Thank goodness, those left and right roads were there, if not, then she would just have to journey backwards out of the maze and back to where she had last saw those three flesh hungry scavengers—bears.

So now, without being spotted by those vicious huge dogs, Flower began vehemently scurrying backwards. And when she knew she was faraway from them enough, she slowdown.

Then something funny and weird suddenly overwhelmed her mind.

'Since Anthony is a werewolf, initially he's also a wolf. And those creature I saw just now are also wolves, doesn't that just meant that they're family member. Or even perhaps, they're Anthony's brother.'

Flower chuckled. She didn't know why she even thought of such, it wasn't producing any sense, but for some reasons it was funny, and she laughed. Even though it was just a chuckle, even yet, this was the most genuine laugh she had ever had since arriving in this goddamn frigid forest.

Rapidly erasing her mind off that. She focused more on where she was going, and moved more quicker.

It was midnight already, even Flower knew that she was supposed to be sleeping by now, nevertheless, she had decided not to. Besides, this simply isn't the safest place to have a good rest, not to talk of having a good sleep.

well as promised. my favorite chapter so far is chapter 18. I enjoyed writing it, I even laughed whilst at it.
