But Olive could never wrap her head around this. Leading the mafia part of the East side of Boston. Is this really the life she wanted? Carmine Vasquez had quite the opposite life. He lived in solitude growing up. He was never allowed to leave, never allowed to have company, and never allowed to go near windows. Carmine's parents were scared of everything beyond the window panes. Carmine grew sick of this and vowed to become strong and to protect his family so they could live without the fear of being hurt. On the day of his 18th birthday, he joined the Boston police academy. Trained hard and climbed the ranks fast. He never second guessed a decision or an arrest in his field. Carmine

It didn't take long for the SWAT vans to show up and for all of my men to be suited up and ready to roll out. This had been something We've all been looking forward to for a very very long time.

These scumbags took away our families. They took away our freedom and made us cower behind curtains. I was ready to shut this down for good. Boston would finally be able to get back onto its feet.

I debated stopping home to tell Olive but she was in rough shape still and didn't need to know. Her life was also stolen by them. She could have grown up in a normal household instead of a dangerous one. But its Boston. There was hardly a normal household here.

"Are we all familiar with the plan?" I asked, raising my voice to speak over the chatter. The room went silent and soon 'Yes Sir' was all I heard.

"Then why are you still here? Move the fuck out." I demanded and they did as they were told. I grabbed a Springfield .45 caliber and stuck it in my thigh harness. A smile I hadn't even realized I had grew wider and I became excited.

I couldn't care less if someone thought I was fucked up or twisted. I was ready.

Olive

The first half an hour of the meeting was boring. I lost focus countless times but my heartbeat never slowed. I was ready to send these fuckers to hell- even if I was right by their side. I looked down and tightened my grip on the hand grenade.

I prayed Papa would forgive me for my weaknesses. But this was inevitable. I stood from behind the cement barrier. It was now or never.

I slowly and cautiously moved closer to the group. Nobody looked my way or away from whatever was in drawing their attention. I got as close as I could without them noticing and stooped back down. I held the clip down and removed the pin. The minute I let go, It was over.

I'd be gone, and hopefully, so would these ugly bastards. I hope Carmine won't be too upset. I haven't repaid him for his kindness but maybe the money I deposited into his account will count for something.

I stood once more and inserted myself into the back of the group. I made sure to keep my grip tight. I have to make a grand exit or this was all for nothing.

I noticed something moving around in the shadows. It only took me a moment to realize what was about to happen. I quickly pushed myself to the middle of the group. It wasn't long until guns were trained on me. I smiled smugly.

"Good evening, ladies. How goes it?" I held up both hands. One held the grenade and the other the pin.

"You're supposed to be six feet under, Semone." Carlos Gambino was the first to speak up. It seems he has finally found his balls.

"Yeah and you're supposed to be Mafioso. Not a coward." His face remained expressionless. They were probably a little annoyed. Oh well, I suppose.

"If I'm honest with you boys, I'm a little hurt," I smiled and walked around the center of the circle- twirling the pin between my fingers.

"Cagna pazza." One of the brothers spoke ever so quietly.

"It'd be wise to be nice to the person who currently carries your fate in their hands." I flashed him a smile and returned my glare to Manfredi. No doubt he is the one who ordered the hit.

"Its just business, Sweetheart." He attempted to play it off nonchalantly but the beads of sweat and his shaky grip gave him away.

"Is that what we are calling it," I scoffed, "Some uncle."

Heads turned and I realized I had exposed a family secret. Oops.

"Did you guys not know that he's my uncle?" I asked with a cocked eyebrow. Their facial expressions answered my rhetorical question.

"Non ascoltare la puttana pazza. Non ci si deve fidare di lei." I rolled my eyes at his failed attempt to secure himself.

We continued this pointless banter for what felt like forever. I was beginning to get bored. I watched as the shadows began to fade and actual people took their place. Men with SWAT vests and shields closed in on us and panic began to settle in my core.

I turned my head and locked eyes with the one person who I wished wouldn't be involved. Carmine.

"So what's your end game here, Olive?" One of the brothers asked and I shrugged. I kept my eyes locked onto Carmine's. He looked stunned. I didn't blame him. I was supposed to be home resting. And god did I wish I was. My abdomen was throbbing with pain and I felt sweaty.

But soon it wouldn't matter.

The radius of the grenade will hopefully only affect those in close proximity. Carmine and the other pigs will survive.

"To take you guys down with me." I said and finally looked away from Carmine. I smiled as the world around me turned into chaos. The SWAT team began screaming and gas was thrown. Shots were fired.

Yet for the first time since leaving his side, I felt at peace.
