Chapter Fifty-Six: Terrence, again.

Jake was far away in dreamland when beneath his pillow he felt his phone summon him back to the land of consciousness. His eyes were prickly but with a gentle rub the bit of discomfort went away. He looked at the caller ID as he yawned.

"Elizabeth," he spoke with a still groggy voice.

"You said you would come and see me a week ago. I am still waiting," Elizabeth said on the other end.

Jake studied her tone. Everything seemed alright from the way she spoke. Lately, the only justification they had for calling each other was if emergency had visited. Right now, that did not seem to be the case.

"Is everything okay?" he asked regardless.

"Everything is fine. But I have something I really need to tell you."

"Well I am away at my sister's right now. I'll probably be back in the next three days or so. If she lets me leave that is," Jake responded.

"How is she?"

"As well as can be," answered Jake.
