Recovery

Ruby's POV:

Every day for the past 3 months I would meet Rikka at this cafe that I first met her at after all the excitement settled. Occasionally Weiss, Blake, and Yang would join, and sometimes Yuuta would come with Rikka though it was just mainly Rikka and me. Walking inside the cafe I greeted the barista that's usually there and too my seat. My phone buzzed with a text from Rikka. You're probably wondering what happened to my scroll, well in this world my scroll is basically just a glorified mini window. I unlock my phone and read the text stating that Rikka had arrived.

"Over here!" I exclaimed and waved my arm excitedly.

"Just you today huh?" Rikka smiles as she pulls out her chair and takes a seat.

"Yeah, Blake and Yang had a thing and Weiss had to go with her sister."

"Well I'm glad to see you either way." She smiled

"Oh did you notice?"

"Oh yeah you aren't wearing your cape or your normal clothes."

"Yeah I decided to buy people clothes." We both started laughing. People would give me weird looks every time I came here so I finally bought some clothing from a local retailer in Japan.

"I remember saying the same thing after I had finally snapped out of my chunibyo."

"Well I mean that's something that seemed hard to snap out of."

Rikka's smile changed to a look of fear.

"Duck."

"What?" What does she mean duck?

"DUCK NOW!" Rikka pushed my head down quickly then created a barrier which protected everyone from a car that had been thrown at the cafe. Everyone in the cafe started applauding, but Rikka put a hand up to keep everyone quiet so she could hear anything else. Nothing else seemed to have happened because she lowered the barrier, and together we evacuated the building. I don't know what that was, but I need to ask

"Rikka what is going on?" Before Rikka could answer I heard a loud bang followed by darkness.

{3 weeks later}

My eyes slowly start to open as I notice I'm back in Remnant, but wasn't I just in the cafe? Attempting to sit up my head rings and the room starts spinning. Why does my head feel like a bullet ran through it? A few faint voices come from outside the doorway. Making my way to the door I hear the voices a bit more clearly decifering that it's Yang's voice.

"Hang on a sec guys imma use the can, then I'm gonna whoop you in-" Yang freezes and makes direct eye contact with me, "Ruby?"

Yang brought me to where Weiss and Blake were so that they could explain to me everything that had happened including the unfortunate news that I had died. After find out everything is that had happened I started training again, because there is no way I can fight being as weak as I was. Rikka reached out almost every day before I woke up, but for some reason I haven't heard from her since. I'm glad she knows I'm awake, but how do I know she's okay if I haven't heard from her? I've tried calling her and all of her friends and still haven't heard anything from anyone. Probably time I go in search for her.

"Are you sure you have to go?" Blake questioned.

"Yeah, I need to make sure Rikka is okay." I grabbed the portal device.

"How will I know my baby sister will survive?" Yang hugged me tight.

"Relax Yang I'm not a baby anymore," I smiled, "I can kick ass."

Waving everyone off I opened a portal and took a deep breathe. Here we go.
