Chapter 5: Choices and Reflections

The aroma of home-cooked meal filled the air as Ethan sat down at the dinner table with his mother. The familiar sounds of clinking cutlery and soft conversation enveloped them, providing a sense of comfort in the midst of uncertainty.

"How was your day, sweetheart?" his mother asked, her voice warm and affectionate.

Ethan smiled, grateful for the opportunity to share his thoughts with her. "It was good, Mom," he replied. "I actually went to Oscorp Tower today. I've been thinking about studying science, and I thought it would be a good place to start."

His mother's eyes lit up with pride and curiosity. "That's wonderful, Ethan! I'm glad to see you taking an interest in your future."

Encouraged by her response, Ethan took a deep breath before broaching the next topic. "And speaking of the future, I found a high school that I think would be perfect for me. It's called Midtown High School of Science."

His mother listened attentively as Ethan explained his reasons for wanting to attend Midtown High. He spoke of its prestigious reputation and innovative programs, painting a vivid picture of the opportunities it could offer him.

After a moment of thoughtful consideration, his mother nodded in agreement. "It sounds like a fantastic opportunity, Ethan. If that's what you want, then I'm behind you one hundred percent."

Relief washed over Ethan as he realized that his mother was supportive of his decisions. With a grateful smile, he returned his attention to his meal, savoring the warmth of her approval.

After dinner, Ethan retreated to his room, the weight of the day's revelations still heavy on his mind. He returned to the diary, eager to glean more insights into the life he once lived.

As he pored over the pages, Ethan's eyes fell upon a passage that caught his attention. His mother's birthday was coming up in just a couple of days, a fact that he had overlooked in the midst of his own turmoil.
