Chronicles of a Telekinetic with a Group Chat (Archive)

You wake up as Matt Garetty the day you get your powers. Oh, and you have a group chat. What do you do? Go. (Currently on Hiatus) ----------------------------------------------------------------- (Daily chapter, but subject to change.) https://www.royalroad.com/profile/246535/fictions https://www.fanfiction.net/u/15132842/ https://www.scribblehub.com/profile/97664/rubberpeen/ Hello, everyone! This is my first try at fanfiction so forgive my rookieness. Also, kudos to you if you understand that reference from the synopsis. So, I recently watched Chronicle and I remembered how much I like it. I've also wanted to try fanfiction writing for a while now so I thought why not go for it. Chronicle is a small storyline overall so I decided to do something a little different with it, you'll have to read and wait to see. Also, this is more for my self-enjoyment than anything so sorry if you don't like it. As for romance, I'm not confident enough in my writing in general much less romance. I'll definitely keep it in mind, but it'll be a slow romance if at all. No harem, but MC will probably sleep around. Only one romance partner though, in the end. Obligatory notice of me not owning anything.

Test Cont.

"Actually, this is a perfect opportunity to use my nanites to fly. In the show, Rex creates a jetpack that uses turbines to fly, and then later on he creates a hoverboard-type vehicle. Let me try to replicate the jetpack first before I decide to create my own version.

Okay, this is my first time trying out my nanites. It's probably going to feel weird. But I can do this."

I forgot to mention it, but after I merged with the Omega-1 Nanite I could feel it inside my body. It almost felt like when I first got my telekinesis, a new appendage I could control with my mind. But up until this point, I had never tried properly communicating with the OM-1 since I got so caught up with everything else.

Communicating with the OM-1 was much smoother than I expected it to be. It was instant, like we'd been connected for a lot longer. Now I just needed to figure out how it works. Would I need to give it specific blueprints of what I want it to build, or is it more instinctual where the OM-1 picks up the slack of the knowledge I lack?

I communicated to it the stills of the show from my past life where it was Rex using the jetpack. Lo and behold it worked.

The nanites flowing through my body to create the jetpack was a very new feeling. It felt like parts of my body became slime as the nanites reforged into the jetpacks. I would imagine it's what being a shapeshifter feels like. Anyways, now sticking out from my back was a jetpack that consisted of the backpack-like apparatus coming out of my back with two turbine wings going in opposite directions.

And with the jetpack came a very welcome surprise.

"What the hell? I know exactly how this jetpack works now."

It seems another benefit of the OM-1 nanite creating a machine is it downloads the schematics into my brain.

"Holy shit. I remember now. In the show, whenever Rex would use his nanites to communicate with a piece of technology, he would know how it works. That means I can steal any technology now. Not to mention, I can probably upgrade the technology to make it work better. This is a freaking gold mine!

Now that I know the OM-1 picks up some of the slack in terms of my lack of knowledge, that means I can create a lot of futuristic apparatus without needing the blueprint. I would only need an idea of what the machine looks like and its usage. Hopefully.

Leave that for later, right now it's time to fly again."

Ready to fly with the jetpack, I let go of the hold I had on myself. Instinctually, the jetpack turned on allowing me to hover mid-air.

"Haha. This is so cool. God, I love flying. Now, let's see what this bad boy can do."

Flying with the jetpack was different because I could feel the air directly, so I decided to make a cone of telekinesis right in front of me to block the air. It wasn't quite yet a telekinetic construct since it wasn't visible, but I decided to make a note to train in that direction a little each day.

Anyways, flying by jetpack felt much faster than telekinesis not to mention I could keep it up indefinitely seeing as the OM-1 converted gravitons into electrons from the atmosphere around me. So there was no need to worry about me getting tired while using it.

Of course, using other machines is a different matter altogether. I would need to swing my fists or a sword around which would drain my stamina. Wait, if I'm not mistaken, by having the nanites be a part of me I should develop superhuman characteristics. There's no way a normal human can swing huge fists around otherwise. Another thing to add to my long list of things I need to check out.

I started to fly low enough to see where I was going, but high enough to hide within the clouds. After a few minutes, I was able to spot the junkyard that I took off from when I decided to try out something dangerous.

"I can't believe I'm actually about to try this. I really hope nothing goes wrong."

What am I about to try you ask? Free falling into the junkyard and testing to see how fast I can create the jetpack. Right before I hit the ground.

Stupid? Yes. Reckless? Yes. Dangerous? Yes. Fun? Yes.

"Ok, ok, ok. I can do this. 3, 2, 1."

Free falling to your possible death, not really considering I can stop myself with my telekinesis or at least I hope I can, is quite exhilarating. It's a different feeling of weightlessness compared to floating with telekinesis because you can feel everything around you. The air rushing into your lungs and your eyes not being able to stay open for too long. It feels awesome.

But back to the task at hand, I noticed I wasn't far from the ground now, only a few seconds before I would go splat. So I decided to make the jetpack already just to be safe. I mean I'm a little reckless but not completely dumb.

WHOOSH WHIR FWOOM

Not even a full second had passed before my nanites rearranged themselves to create the jetpack, I turned it on full speed, and I stopped with my feet hovering right above the ground. Putting away my jetpack, I touched down on the ground.

"Phew. Good to know my nanites don't take that long to rearrange themselves. I'm sure the more I use a certain machine the faster my nanites will move. Note to self, add nanite changing to the training routine.

Actually, I should probably check if I can create two machines at the same time. Don't want to be caught by surprise one day. But what should I make next? I guess I can go simple and try the fists with the jetpack."

As with the jetpack, I thought about the scenes from the show of the big fists and what I want them to do and it worked. This time my arms, all the way up to right before my shoulders, turned into giant fists.

"Okay, I definitely have superhuman characteristics. There's no way I should be able to move these fists around. But I need to check if it's only when I have machines active or if it's a passive boost. Anyways, let me try to swing these bad boys around."

Now I had practically no fight experience besides a few scuffles in middle school. So I just did some basic jabs and straights for a few minutes before I came to a realization.

"That's not going to work. These hands are too big for something like that. Guess my style, for now, is just swinging as hard as I can. Although, I could probably copy Luffy's fighting style. His Gear 3rd is all with the big hands and I might be able to replicate his other moves by allowing my arms to extend through nanites. That's another thing to add to my to-do list.

For now, let me try to create my jetpack at the same time."

Creating my jetpack while sustaining my fists was harder than I thought it would be. It puts a strain on my body that clearly states I can't use this for long.

"Well, that's a little disappointing. I can probably sustain two machines for a minute or so. I'm gonna have to start training my nanites with the same focus I use on my telekinesis. One in the day and one in the night."

Deciding to rest for a while, I float up and lay down.

Nineteenth chapter done and as always let me know what you think.
