He Zifeng came to his office for work the following day. Before coming in, he ordered Assistant Jiang to have people fully clean his office and get rid of any stuff retaining the smell of cigarettes.

"Sir, the chairman was asking you to take more days off." Assistant Jiang cleared his throat after the statement as he accompanied He Zifeng in the VIP elevator.

He Zifeng glanced at him then looked back at the ascending numbers flashed on the elevator. "I had enough rest. The old man can't handle everything all by himself anymore. He will eventually complain to me once I'm back if I take too many days off."

Assistant Jiang furrowed his brows. 'Isn't the chairman only in his fifties? He isn't that old...' he thought, but kept his mouth shut as they landed on the floor to the office. He followed his boss to report the schedule for the day.

Since He Zifeng came for work, the office of the chairman handed over all the work back to all personnel of the CEO's office. Everyone was busy and He Zifeng was in back-to-back meetings throughout the day. It was a miracle that he was able to finish a sandwich for lunch.

"Sir, about the bar shampoos..." Assistant Jiang reminded after He Zifeng was back in his office.

"Didn't she give design proposals before she..." He Zifeng's bad mood became depressed suddenly.

"Uh, yes! The files are here..." Assistant Jiang hurried to retrieve the proposal from their files.

When he finally got the folder, he placed it gently on the desk for his boss to see. "Here are the designs, Sir."

He Zifeng browsed the file with sad, loving eyes. It was Chen Kaori's work. He does not even know when she will wake up, much less if she could use her arm and hands to design such materials again. He gently closed the folder then lifted it with his hand for Assistant Jiang to take. "Get marketing to start packaging our new products for launch with these designs."

"Right away, Sir!" Assistant Jiang gave a slight bow after taking the file and brisk-walked out of the office.

He Zifeng leaned back on his chair and swiveled it to face the floor-to-ceiling windows. His face turned gloomy as his guilt came back to him. She finished the advertising proposal, including the commercial concept, yet he selfishly asked her to come back. Then he recalled that she was in her hometown that day. 'Was it a significant day?' he thought.

He Zifeng closed his eyes to recall the events of that day. He remembered the call Bei Yang made to ask Chen Kaori to come. They could hear the strong winds as if she was in an open area.

He Zifeng suddenly opened his eyes. He just remembered the date of the contract signing. It was Chen Kaori's grandfather's birth anniversary.

Guilt flooded him even more. If he just let her be, she would have stayed longer in her hometown instead of rushing back by plane to cater to his unreasonable whims. If she didn't come to the contract signing, she would still be walking around, talking to people. She would have been safe, instead of encountering the drunk driver.

He recalled how Chen Kaori looked furious when she stormed into his office. 'Why was I happy about it? I am too selfish,' his chuckle cracked.

He Zifeng wanted to smoke again, but he promised not to, as long as Chen Kaori wakes up. As long as there was still hope for her, he will keep his promise.

He Zifeng placed the back of his wrist over his eye areas and let tears stream down his cheeks.
