Chimaera's Conquest: The Legend Of The Devourer

WSA 2024 entry Synopsis: In the not-so-distant future, a group of Earthlings find themselves mysteriously transported to the Nexus Realm, a fantastical world besieged by monstrous creatures. With no way out of the craziness, they reluctantly joined forces with the realm's inhabitants to combat the constant threat of these otherworldly beasts. To defend the Nexus or Nexaria, powers were bestowed upon them with the promise of returning home after successfully repelling the monsters dangling before them like a carrot. Years passed, and the initial camaraderie between the heroes slowly began to crumble. Still, the Protagonist, Adrian Fenrir, with his power known as Analysis, played a crucial role in understanding the monsters' patterns and weaknesses. However, as the group became more adept at handling the threats, they grew increasingly independent and, perhaps, arrogant. One day, due to a series of mishaps, Adrian found himself surrounded by assassins. He tried his best to drive them off but failed and met a bitter end. It didn't take long for the assassins to do their work, and as per the contractor's request, they decided to dispose of Adrian's corpse by selling it to a mad scientist known for his experiments with creatures from the Nexaria. In need of a fresh subject for his latest project, the scientist transformed Adrian into a chimaera, a fusion of humans and monsters to be sold as a weapon for war. However, the scientist's plan backfired when Adrian, against all odds, regained consciousness within his chimaera body. Fueled by rage and the memories of his betrayal, Adrian seized control over his new body. Now reborn as a chimaera with the ability to absorb organs and gain the powers of other creatures, Adrian vows vengeance upon the mysterious contractor who sent the assassins for him. Once a battleground against monsters, the Nexaria now witnessed a different kind of conflict—one driven by betrayal, revenge, and the extraordinary powers of a vengeful chimaera. *** Weekly bonus chapter goals: • 20 Golden Tickets: 2 extra chapters. • 80+ (weekly) Power stones: 2 extra chapters. • 1 Review: 1 extra chapter (Only valid for first 10 reviews) • Super gifts: 4-8 chapters, depending on the gift. *** Discord Server link: https://discord.gg/bjetmPER5p

Adrian's arm throbbed with pain as he clutched onto the bleeding wound. He knew he had to end the fight asap and escape. Treating the wound was his concern... but only after beating the Minotaur.

With only one arrow left in his possession, he had to make it count. That's why shooting the arrow was out of option. He couldn't risk the Minotaur dodging the arrow, but he could do something else with it.

It was a risky move. It was so dangerous that Adrian wondered if Victor had done something to his brain for him to act so rashly. But desperate times called for desperate measures, so Adrian steeled himself for what he was about to do next.

With one of the Minotaur's legs incapacitated, Adrian focused on the creature's mouth, which clutched its sword.

Usually, Adrian would think of using the ability of Kitsune's eyes. But it was out of the question as he had destroyed its eyes. But even if he hadn't, the magic won't work due to the Minotaur's high magic resistance, as he had discovered after using [Analysis] before he engaged the damned creature.

That's why Adrian took the bold move of removing the monster's eyes from the equation. Since he couldn't use the eyes to his benefit, there was no point in allowing the Minotaur to remain in its best shape.

It was a calculated risk, with Adrian banking on the benefits of a blind Minotaur. However, he hadn't anticipated the creature's resilience to live, a premature mistake on his part.

But thanks to their struggle, Adrian knew the Minotaur now relied on its hearing. While the erratic behaviour of the Minotaur was troublesome, he decided to use that against it.

Storing the crossbow in his inventory, Adrian retrieved his last arrow, holding it like a blade. He then proceeded to remove his cloak. He winced as he did so before using it to wrap around his injured right arm.

Holding the arrow tightly, he thought, 'No backing down now.'

Taking a deep breath, Adrian grabbed a rock and threw it away from the Minotaur to create a distraction. As the creature turned towards the noise, Adrian sprinted, utilising his [Enhanced Agility] to its maximum potential.

The Minotaur, however, didn't ponder on the stone Adrian threw for long and, sensing Adrian's movements, swung its sword. Adrian narrowly dodged the attack, sliding underneath the Minotaur as the sword whizzed past his neck.

"Fuck! That was too close!"

Adrian wanted to thank his stars but didn't have the time to do so. He only had a small window to execute his plan before the Minotaur would turn to fight him.

With agility fueled by desperation, Adrian stabbed the last remaining arrow into the creature's only good leg as he stopped sliding.

The Minotaur howled in pain as both legs gave way, and it fell flat on its stomach. But Adrian wasn't finished. Quick on his feet, he jumped onto the creature's back, wrapping his cloak around the Minotaur's neck, choking the beast with all his might.

"Die already!" Adrian grunted, pulling the cloak tighter.

The Minotaur thrashed around, desperate to free itself, but its weakened body couldn't resist for long. Despite the strength Adrian displayed, the Minotaur fought till its last breath.

Much like the beast, Adrian refused to give up and held on. His injured arm hurt like never before, and pulling on the cloak worsened the injury. Fresh blood gushed out of the wound, but Adrian didn't give up. Not until the system confirmed the Minotaur's death.

[You have killed a Minotaur! Exp +1000]

Adrian released the lifeless Minotaur, his chest heaving as he surveyed the aftermath. The Dungeon was utterly silent. The silence was only broken by Adrian's heavy panting.

He looked at his shaking arms before focusing on the injured arm. His blood had stained the entire arm, but the adrenaline in his body made him numb to pain.

Adrian immediately tore a piece of cloth from Minotaur's kilt, wrapping it around his arm to stop the bleeding.

"Guess that's the price for underestimating a blind beast," he muttered to himself.

Ignoring the prompts, he crouched next to the fallen Minotaur, his eyes studying the once formidable creature now lifeless on the cold floor.

"I should've known better," he shook his head, touching the Minotaur's lifeless body. "Blind or not, these creatures don't give up easily. I nearly died twice, even with all the enhancements!"

With that, Adrian retrieved the weapon from Minotaur's jaws and claimed it as his own. Although the sword was a bit too big for Adrian, it was light and could be used by him.

"This will solve my weapon situation," Adrian mumbled before using [Analysis] on the sword to reveal its stats.
