Child Of The Void

THIS NOVEL IS MOVING TO PATREON, ON THIS APP, IT WILL HAVE INCREDIBLY SLOW UPDATES. I APOLOGIZE TO READERS FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE LINK IS BELOW NOW. Or just read on Scribblehub since it has 2 chaps a week (at least). https://www.patreon.com/Novels630 *** Finally! After hundreds of years of suppression and abuse, humanity produced a genius! --- From 391 Aetil to 'now', humanity has had to live as the servants of the Gods. They had been wrongfully abused and used as slaves with no rights. Just as they were going to give up and forever live at the bottom of the food chain, hunted by every existence and used as sources of entertainment, a genius with extraordinary talent had been born! Raymond Valtere, or Ray for short, had been born. And only 5 years after his birth, he was sealed away by some Gods who were afraid of his talent. Sealed in the Void, where nothing exists, Ray trains and learns. In a place where his mind ages yet his body doesn't, he meets the Void and comes to see it as a sort of Guardian that raised him. Ray reaches the peak of his talent and, eventually, reaches the peak of humanity. Now wielding the power of the Void, he sets out to free humanity from the shackles of the Gods. Though he might find other goals in the future, not everything is certain! But everyone knows. He is imperfect, impure. --- "How funny is it, that the man deemed to feel the least cared the most." *** This was honestly written for fun and I don't really have a talent for writing so, enjoy! I am still a student so don't mind the mistakes or the personality changes or the unexpected emo scenes, this is purely experimental! Please remember that I have a life and I won't be absolutely dedicated to this so don't find it strange if I randomly stop writing! I know I said I was 'unconfident' about writing romances but... The urges... The voices... Well, anyways, I'm writing a boys love! Yay! But the romance will be toxic and hard to understand near the beginning, you'll soon be able to see it mellow down. Or not, don't trust me with keeping to single ideas. I will be commenting on a few 'quotes' from Raymond throughout the novel! Don't read them, I got firsthand embarrassment from them!

Academy Examination (2)

-1st person-

I woke up 27 minutes later, a minute before the test ended. I rubbed my eyes and slowly got ready to leave, packing left over things back into my bag and also picking up Eris after waking Her up. To anyone else, it seemed like a still delusional child speaking to a stuffed bear, but for me it was waking up a parent.

Hmm, is it already time for the examination to end? Eris spoke as 'I' rubbed Her eyes. In truth, it was actually a [Mirage] and everyone else thought I was rubbing a stuffed bear's eyes. She was rubbing her own eyes whilst I watched. The reason why we did this bothersome thing is that the bear was very delicate. And if I tried rubbing Her eyes, I might end up destroying the bear. Of course, these humans are too weak to do that. Eris is just a regular bear to them and a sturdy one at that. If regular mortals touched her, or even tried to rip her, it'd do less than a piece of tissue. Hell, it might even feel like a massage or tickle.

"Every examinee who is still doing their test must stop now. The teachers will take your [Screens] and after your [Screen] is taken, please line up at the large door you entered through to wait to be led to the practical examination area." The same old man spoke in a loud voice, causing me to cover my ears as I walked towards the door.

Everyone lined up in a single-file line without complaints and we were all soon led to a large field. It wasn't particularly special nor was it normal... It was kind of weird, like a blank slate with nothing but grass. And all the grass was exactly the same height.

"Please stand in your own space which you won't be able to reach someone else. And stay still to wait for instructions." Everyone followed his instructions and walked to their own space, stretching out their arms periodically to check if they can reach anyone. There were even some who were spinning with their arms out.

He clapped his hands and waited for everyone to calm down before speaking again, "Now that you've all settled, you will be handed a random weapon of the examiner's choice. You will have to use that weapon to take down a certain target. Before the real exam begins, you will have 5 minutes to get used to the weapon. Whether it's a pike, spear, bow, or even gun. Now, we wish you luck."

How mean... To everyone else, not me. I've already learned how to use millions of different weapons already. Those millions of years weren't for nothing.

[Yes, my master is already amazing] Hestia spoke from my pocket, I made her turn into a smaller animal so she could hide in my pocket cause she was already summoned and also didn't want to go back to the spirit world. Right now, she was an ant.

Anyways, an examiner walked up to me and gave me an urumi. A belt like blade which is considered one of the most difficult to master. As it wasn't a strict sword which could easily be controlled and recalled. It was uncontrollable and it was also easy to injure yourself if handled wrongly. I remember I almost cut my arm off whilst trying to learn it.

I slashed it a few times familiarly and got used to the weight of the urumi.

I looked to my side to see another examinee get handed a scythe. Then to my right and saw an examinee get handed a sword.

This was only the first part of the practical examination.

After the time ended, targets flew in front of us with floating technology and mana and it all stopped in front of us. The targets were different based on the weapon and mine was a mannequin.

3, 2, 1.

Everyone else began using their weapons agains their targets. Some skilful, some miserable and others mediocre. Then I stepped forward and slashed my belt, instantly cutting the mannequin in half as it soon re-attached itself. It eventually lifted the weapon in its hand and dashed towards me, causing me to step back slightly. I lifted the weapon and rapidly slashed, only to be blocked by the sword in its hand. I kept attacking and soon completely slashed the mannequin in half, vertically.

I slowly began to wait for everyone else. A timer on top of my head stopped at 53 seconds. That was literally all for the first bit. This tested our luck, versatility and adaptability. Luck for the weapon you get, versatility for how many weapons you can use and adaptability for how you can adapt to an unfamiliar weapon. Hours passed and finally, every examinee had completed their weapon handling.

Examiners began walking towards examinees and asking a singular question before taking the weapon from them.

"Have you used an urumi before?" A male examiner walked up to me and asked as he took the urumi.

"Yes, I have, Sir." I replied politely. Giving a smile in the process, he smiled back in astonishment and spoke again, "I've never seen anyone as young as you handle and urumi that skilfully."

"I've used it for a very long time, Sir."

"Is it your main weapon?" He stayed for a longer time than the other examiners but no one rebuked him.

"I haven't decided, Sir." I responded bluntly.

"Maybe you should use an urumi as your main weapon."

"As I have already said, I haven't decided, Sir." I averted my eyes and waited for him to walk away before walking over to sit down by Eris, who was placed a few metres behind me. I flopped down and gave a little sigh as I waited for the next part to begin.

"Well done, examinees. The next part of the practical examination is attributes, we will all test your individual strength, speed and so on. Please stand back in your original spaces and wait for the test to begin." I stood up and walked back to my spot, waiting for the machines to be placed in front of us.

In this school, the only thing that's treated worse than spoiled nobles are weak talents. If I were to hide everything and pretended to be very weak then it'd backfire with me getting treated badly for not living up to my talent. Similar to how cowards can be powerful but can't do anything because they're afraid. So I have to show my power just enough so that no one is disappointed.

Soon, by the same procedure as the targets, machines flew in one by one and lined up in front of all 1000 examinees. It was a machine with a black dot in the middle and a number on top.

"These are the strength measurers. Punch or attack the middle of the dot as hard as you can, the number on the top is your score. You have 10 minutes to attack it in anyway you can as long as you use a piece of your body.

It was simple.

I curled my hand into a fist and looked at the lowest number you should get for this. 1000. It was low for the Reds and mages in this test, and this wasn't a test that needed passing. It was kind of a record to see what needed improvement and also to see what weapon suits that particular physique.

Well, this was longer than I thought it'd be!
