109 A Task of Revenge

Maggie was supposed to work the night shift, but she was feeling unexpectedly uneasy, and her right eyelid wouldn't stop twitching. Alla was the first person who came to her mind. She quickly dialed her number, but after several attempts, there was no response. Worried, Maggie took leave and hurried to the apartment, calling Alla continuously on her way.

Just as she opened the door to the apartment, the call was answered. She immediately breathed a sigh of relief, but her urgency didn't abate. "Alla, what are you doing? Why aren't you answering your phone? You're killing me with worry!"

Instead of Alla's voice, a woman's voice came from the other end of the call, "Are you Ms. Barton's sister?" At the sound of a stranger answering the call, Maggie's heart sank. "Yes, who are you?"
