XANDER? (2)

The next day.

Su Corporation.

Inside the enormous-sized office, flipping through a yellow folder was Alex. His expression without emotion was signing the papers on the desk. He heard the door to his office open and didn't bother himself as he knew it was his assistant.

"Boss" Assistant Lui called.

His head busy reading the files, he asked "Gotten the information, yet?"

Assistant Lui nodded "Yes"

"Drop it then" was Alex's aloof command. The older man was not surprised as his boss was angry from the very minute he set foot into the company. He had no idea what was wrong and didn't dare to ask.

"You are still here?" He raised his head and gave the assistant a cold look. Assistant Lui chuckled nervously, bowed his head, and left the office.

After a while, Alex propped the lemon folder aside and extended his hand forward for the chocolate-coloured file. He untied the rope and disclosed the document case. His mind flew back to that stubborn wife of his, then to the document with him.

'Xavier?'

He dissected through the entire document and didn't find anything disturbing except for one that startled him, for a moment. He looked through that photo to the sure and frowned. How did he and that man's photo end up together? Did he know him? Of course not. The other disturbing truth was the piece of paper which seemed to have information from a hospital.

'Blood cancer....rare blood group.......a year left to live

Alex leaned against his seat, rubbing the little peck of sweat forming around his forehead. What did he just read? That man was going to die soon. Did she know about it?

He took a deep breath and sighed. She doesn't know about it as the information was confidential. He had used his connections to get it and that man wouldn't be so crazy to tell her about his illness. How ironic that he made himself pitiful now.

May was his wife now and whatever relationship she had with that man in the past was all in the past. Right now, was their future. He rose from his seat, inside the drawer under the desk, he took out a blue lighter and moved towards the window.

That afternoon, the sun had reduced and the sky was limited in its blue colour. The wind whistled and the sound of thunder roared, a sign that it was soon going to rain. His grey-blue eyes looked up at the sky and scoffed.

'I don't share my woman with another man...he just as to be out' He shifted his gaze and turned the lighter on. The reddish-orange flame soon burned the papers in between his hands. Alex tightened his hold around the paper, regardless of the burnt. His mood now had deteriorated to the worse. He felt so much emotion in his body.

'I will never share My WOMAN with you...Never' He infuriated threw the little shreds of burnt paper to the floor and ran a hand through his perfectly combed hair.

May belongs to only me and me alone. She was, will and forever be till death did us apart. In fact, in the afterlife, I wouldn't let her alone for a moment.

He squinted his eyes away from his slightly burnt palm and groaned. This was the first time he was this fired up or sent into a rage.

GeniTal Corporation.

Day noticed Rebecca has been absent-minded since that morning. Sometimes she would murmur gibberish words to herself. Other times, she would unwontedly smile.

"Hey, hey, you look happy today?"

Rebecca dropped her phone to look at the intruder. She smiled and inquired from him instead "Do I look happy? You think I am sexy nowadays, right?"

Day parted his lips in shock. What was this crazy woman blurting out? Swiftly, he touched her forehead and frowned "Your temperature is normal"

"Don't ruin my sweet mood today, please" She grumbled and looked away. Day shook his head and left her.

Meanwhile, Rebecca picked her phone up and checked if there was a message but still none. She could not help but feel disappointed.

"Tch...look who is waiting for a message from her sugar daddy...so disgusting" Amaya, one of the employees and one of Rebecca's nemesis spatted. She threw a disgusting look at the woman and moved along to her office. As always, Rebecca ignored her. But her mood had already been ruined. She flung her phone to the side and sighed.

'Sex is sex...just casual, forget it already' She chided herself.

From his seat, Day was watching her. He knew something was up with her as she wasn't too happy. Reluctantly, he looked away.

"Fuck!!! Rebecca stop it...just stop it please...forget that mind-blowing night...I can't do this anymore. It was just casual sex between two fucking adults for goodness sake. Why can't you forget it?" She palm-faced herself and hissed.

"Your face is pale...do you need a day off?" Day could not help but return to her seat. In the company, he was superior to her. If she wanted three weeks off, he would give her even though it was against the company's policy.

Rebecca tilted her head to the side and complained "I want to get something out of my mind but...it is just impossible. Day, I think I will go mad if I don't stop it...help me, please"

"Family issues?" Day leaned his elbow on her desk, his eyes staring straight into hers. Rebecca shook her head feeling dejected. How would she explain the problem without her tainting her name?

"Issues I want to desperately forget...Day, help me...anything to forget that problem" Her head was messed up.

Day flashed a bright smile which now showed his perfect white teeth "There's one solution"

Rebecca furrowed her brows "Really? what's that?"

Day leaned a bit closer towards her, his face almost touching hers, and whispered slowly "Date me"

"Eh?"

.................................................................................................................

That night, May drowsily came out from the bedroom for dinner. Looking at the empty table, she pouted "I will eat alone tonight?"

Nanny Janet came forward to explain on behalf of Alex "Second Master phoned this afternoon, stating he wouldn't be home tonight and for some couple of days. I hope Madam understands"

May sat on her seat "I didn't ask, did I?" As always, she first drank up the bowl of soup before digging into the hot chicken noodles. Looking back, she preferred he was here with her. Fighting with him was far more better than eating alone. Her eyes dropped and she had no appetite to eat anymore.

"Aunt Janet, I am full" Her voice was despairing and soft. She rose from her seat and left. Nanny Janet sighed and took the leftovers away.

In the room.

May sat with her legs folded together on the bed. She saw the moon, through the window and annoyedly threw a pillow at it (The window).

Why are you feeling bad for that piece of a mutt? So what if he left because of their little fight the previous night? It was his goddamn choice. Subconsciously, she touched her belly...as if an electric voltaic struck her, she instantly drew her hand back.

'Even this damned child?'

Frustrated, she launched an additional cushion to the window and clenched her jaws. Why'd he got me pregnant if he wouldn't be there with me every day? At least he could have considered my pregnancy. When I wanted him to leave, he'd stick around but when he was needed, he'd disappear on me. That's so unfair.

MR ALEXANDER...GO TO HELL. WHO NEEDS YOU ANYWAY?

She curled herself together like a baby on the bed and momentarily gazed at the beautiful moon.

'I miss you'

Meanwhile back downstairs. Nanny Janet had phoned Alex and told him what happened.

"Try to return soon...she feels lonely," She told the man. On the other end, Alex was fixing his eyes on the mesmerising moon. He hummed and hung the phone.

With his hands inside his pants pocket, he leaned against the wall and closed his eyes, as how he did back then when he was still blind. Some days back, he quit meditating but now, he needed it more than ever. One, to take away the rage in his heart. Two, to forget that moment for a splitting minute and thirdly, to calm down before his demonic side was out. His whole life revolved around her and will be forever.

Like that, three people were listlessly looking at the sky as if the moon could release them of their pain.

Thirty minutes ago, his assistant had told him a shocking truth he would never be able to curb for the rest of his remaining term on earth. She was married. MARRIED. At the end of the road, he got nothing. After so many months, all he got was the news of her marriage to some Multi-Billionaire.

Arranging all the memories he had left, he threw them into the trash bin and gave up. His only wish was that she would be happy, very happy with that man. Her happiness was his joy. Now, he could die peacefully.

'Goodbye forever, May'

"Nooooooo!!!!"

"Noo, don't leave me yet" May was stirring on the bed. She clutched her hands tightly on the bedsheets and jolted her eyes wide open.

"Noooo, brother Xavier!!!!" She quickly left the bed and the room. She stormily took herself out of the house, that's when the roar of the thunder reached her ears. Her barefooted feet were getting g cold as she was shivering from the cold. She looked left and right at the huge Villa and had no idea of how to leave.

She needed to return to Xavier....he promised her but he left her in her dreams...Why?

Just as her feet touched the wet ground, her eyes become dizzy and unfortunately, she fell....into someone's arms.

Alex tiredly took the woman back to their room. A while back, he returned home to get some working files when he saw the petite woman running out of the house. At first, his demonic side was yelling at him not to let her escape and hold her captive but seeing how unkept and pale she abhorred, he just sat back in the car and watched her movement.

'You never seize a moment to annoy and anger me'

He gently dropped her on the bed. He saw the room was scattered, with a deep sigh, he picked up the pillows and placed them behind her head softly.

Slowly, he retreated from the bed and turned to leave when he felt her soft hand on his. He twirled around only to hear her say 'Don't leave me please...you are the only one I have left, brother Xavier...where are you going to? No please never leave like mother...I still need you here, please" Her voice cracked.

Alex scoffed his eyes beyond dark. He really wished he could strangle her. He took her hand away from his and left the room.

Nanny Janet, with a candle in her hand, saw him and was happy "Did you come back to see her?"

Alex shook his head and walked away "Tell her I will be off her back for at least a month...that way she would get a little freedom" His voice was cold.

Nanny Janet has stupefied "Alex, you are doing the wrong thing...I saw the look in her eyes when you weren't here...she is starting to open up to you...give her some time"

Alex stopped in the middle of the living room and sneered "Time? Time is precious and how much time does she need to accept me in her life? ALL THAT WOMAN THINKS OF IS ANOTHER MAN. I AM HER MAN, HER HUSBAND AND THE FATHER OF HER CHILD BUT SHE DOESN'T PLACE A VALUE ON ME IN HER LIFE. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA OF HOW MUCH THIS IS HURTING? I REALLY FEEL LIKE HURTING HER WHEN MY HEART DOESN'T. I REGAINED THIS HOPE, GETTING MY SIGHT BACK ALL FOR HER SAKE. I DIDN'T WANT HER TO FEEL BURDENED BY A BLIND HUSBAND. I GAVE HER EVERYTHING SHE WANTED. LOVE, CARE, MONEY...BUT DID SHE MAKE ANY OF IT WORTHY?? I FEEL LIKE A FOOL WHO LEFT THAT WORLD FOR THE SAKE OF OUR FAMILY WHEN WE AREN'T EVEN A REAL FAMILY. DO YOU KNOW HER PLANS RIGHT NOW.....GIVE BIRTH AND THEN LEAVE TO THAT MAN...A MAN SHE WOULD NEVER SEE AGAIN AFTER HE....." Alex stopped and forced a weak smile at the older woman standing on one of the stairs, with the candle in her hands.

"She thinks I would quit but I will never...from now on, she would know who her husband is....either with my true form or not....goodbye" He fisted his hand and deliberately extended his hand towards the vase by the side of the table. He pushed it off, letting the harsh clay break on the floor. Nanny Janet flinched and covered her ears. By the time she looked up, she saw he had left the house.

'Alex you are wrong this time...my eyes are not being delusional. I saw those looks in her eyes that needed you' She could tell something happened to get such a reaction from him.

*************************************************

After that night, as promised, Alex never showed his face or returned to the house. But for May, as time went by, her depression worsened. Eating breakfast alone....in the garden alone......eating dinner alone. That solitary had drawn her away from the world. Such loneliness had broken and absorbed her cheerful self.

Two weeks and five days passed before her eyes. Her pretty dark crescent eyes were now dead and fallen. She looked distant. Even when Rebecca occasional visited her, she felt nothing. The happiness was gone. It was like a part of her soul was lost.

Her baby bump was showing slightly as she was now three months pregnant. In those days, Nanny Janet would call Alex and inform him about May but the man who nonchalantly hang the phone up whenever her depression was brought to the discussion.

Until one evening. May had gone to sleep earlier as she was weak and enervated. The baby fat on her cute face was gone, showing the bony jaws on her face. Her body was leaner than before. That evening, Alex had arrived home to get some important files. He came unnoticed and planned to leave the same way. The important files he needed were in the study room but since the room was beside May's. He decided to check on her after so many days.

It would be a lie if he said he didn't miss her...he was madly going crazy that he wasn't with her.

He quietly opened the door and shut it slowly when he entered. He shifted from the door to the woman holding her belly. He didn't know what to feel about her recent condition. Nanny Janet was right about her depression and he couldn't help feeling bitter.

"You two are truly soulmates...you are like this because I refused to let you go to him? Women can be really cruel...but I thought you'd be unique because i...i....was the one who brought you up. I found you first, I taught you your first words, first steps....first speech. All your first were mine except for your love. I couldn't be your first love. You are hurting now because of me....if I stay with you, the pain will increase. May I want you happy but I can't let you leave me. I have laboured arduously for this present"

Taking one cold look at her, he twisted the knob of the door.

"Xander?"

Alex paused, his hand stuck on the knob when he heard his name from her mouth. His heart skipped a beat.

"Xander....bro Xander....wait....kiss.... kiss"

Alex swivelled around and glanced at her in tremor.

'Did she remember him?'
