CHAPTER FIFTY-SEVEN

"The missing has been found, so what will you do about her?" Zach spoke meticulously while going through some images on his laptop. He could feel the eerily air around the man by the window even without looking at him. The day was becoming dark and the cold temperature from outside significantly made the surroundings piercing.

Zach chuckled "This wife of yours is really daring...I wonder how you still managed to cope with her attitude, especially with a difficult personality like yours. It's so odd"

A pair of grey-blue eyes simply were shut tight, his fingers crushing the cigarette in between. A gust of wind engulfed him but the anger he was struggling with was incomparable to the aching pain in his chest. At one point his lips curled up jellyfish, but the next moment, they turned dark.

"In the end, there's a punishment" There was a sinister undertone meaning to his words, and unwittingly got Zach curious as he turned his whole focus to the pleasant silhouette by the window. The wide smile on his face died totally on watching the formative situation.

"I thought you loved her"

Alex opened his eyes and scoffed "Love is a word...patience is the real feeling. Betrayal is death...you know all of this Zach. Precious things lost equal retribution" Zach frowned, his eyes narrowed as something came to his mind "Why do you sound like the old Alex?"

Alex licked the corner of his lips, an austere grin crammed on his handsome face. The cigarette butt in between his fingers had been crushed into nothing.

"Zach, pretending to be nice has never been my favourite hobby" He chuckled "I can shed some lights selfishly. I didn't think these circumstances would bring that past back faster than planned" He licked the tip in between his teeth and frowned.

"A...Alex, are you crazy? That past destroyed you....hey, what the fuck were you thinking? It's not like you love children" Zach was speechless and frustrated "I worked hard to escape you from that world...you son of a bitch! All of my efforts are to waste now!"

Alex grasped his eyebrows and laid his eyes on the hidden tattoo on his wrist as he rolled his sleeve up. The shallow look on his features deepened.

"I'll take my leave" Zach watched his indifferent attitude and sighed "Don't do anything stupid"

With his left hand tucked inside his pants pocket, Alex casually left the place.

Grand Tisza.

Nanny Janet, the maids and Butler Feng have all gathered around and told the sad news. The maids badmouthed May and called her all sorts of bad names like " A Disease", "Gold digger", and "Murderer". But Nanny Janet was very keen to understand the whole situation. She wouldn't judge her young mistress unless she spoke and got the real truth. The only problem was the men guarding the room, refusing to let anyone in.

"Let me out...you can't keep me locked in here, I am not a prisoner" 

The maids gossiped amongst themselves "She still has the guts to demand freedom after murdering the boss' child"

"If it was possible, I'd throw and drown her down the lake...master has been too lenient with her"

"I heard it wasn't the first time she tried to kill this child..."

"You can imagine....women are dying to bear children for the master but she got that guts to kill his child. She is so cruel. At first, I admired her diligence and soft attitude....now she showed her true picture"

Back in the locked room, where two men guarded.

May threw the fake wig on the floor and tumbled on the bed exhaustingly. The sleep was about tonic in when she heard the door open. She thought those men finally had a humanity conscience and decided to set her free. Lazily, she ran over to the door, only to fall in the arms of someone. From the familiar smell, she widened her eyes and called "A...Alex"

"Ah, you are here" Her two arms were wrapped around his stiff waist while tears glistened in her eyes "They are bullying me...Alex" She expected him to do something, say sweet nothings to her or scold those men but when only silence encompassed, she withdrew from his body and looked up at him.

She was met with a dark chill gaze.

"A...Alex" She managed to call, her eyes glued on him. He looked different...something was wrong. His gaze no longer abhorred gentleness, they were dangerous now. She parted her lips to speak but looking at those piercing eyes, she shut up.

"Trying to escape again uh?" Finally came his words but they had an underlining coldness in them. He leaned his head over her face, grabbed her chin harshly and chuckled "I underestimated you...a woman who can find ways to kill my child can do the more dangerously foolish crime...and if you think I'll let you off so freely...woman you should check the mirror" He distastefully let go of her chin. May looked at him with narrowed eyes "Alex...i...I am sti,"

"JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP! ANY MORE WORDS FROM YOU...I WON'T BE MERCIFUL NEXT TIME" He threw a hard slap on her face causing her to stumble backwards and hit her head on the bed shelf. She bit her lips hard from the stinging pain, both from her face and head. Her countenance was full of disbelief. The man before her wasn't Alex. He was someone else.

"My child had nothing to do with this...do you want to know something? You won't ever get that awaiting love from the man of your dreams..." He squatted down and squeezed her before himself, his hands on the bed shelf before slowing encircling her fair neck. He tightened his hold as if trying to choke her. May guarded her stomach against his strong push.

"Alex, you'll...I am still your wife"

Alex released her and scoffed "My wife? Do you think you still have that title? Are you deserving of it?" May coughed hard from the choking "Why are you like this? You are scaring me...Alex, I am tired, I want to sleep...let me go" Her voice was sad and choked.

His gaze on her was burning and hot that May could not stand anymore. This Alex before her was creeping and scaring the holy shit out of her. He never raised his hands on her even if he was angry.

"Forget that stupid friend of yours because she is getting her share of misfortune soon" He glared at her. May shook her head "Becca did nothing wrong...this is a matter between the both of us. Alex, I didn't do anything wrong...you can't treat me heartlessly now. I am still your wife"

"YOU...ARE...NOT...MY...WIFE" His eyes were sparkling with disgust and fire. His jaws were clenched and teeth gritted "I AM WARNING YOU FOR THE LAST TIME"

"Alex" May called out helplessly. Why was he been like this? "I don't like this Alex....why are you been like this?" She spoke out her mind even when fear had gripped her. The room was filled with a suffocating and blazing aura.

May suddenly looked at him fiercely "Did I do something to warrant your anger? You hit me..." her lips were pouted. Alex closed his eyes in frustration.

He grabbed her chin with his thumb and pulled her face closer to him.

"Listen to me. I'll make this especially clear to you. Forget any form of freedom and don't think I won't can't you? You foolishly destroyed all your chances. May, treasuring a wife doesn't mean she has the right to do whatever she wants. Stay obedient!" He stepped backwards.

"What? You'll turn me into a prisoner like those fantasy novels. You'll be the Demon and I the Prey, what's all this? Some kind of game" Gradually, the fear began to dissipate from her body as she was filled with so much courage.

"I am warning you, I won't spare you just as you didn't for my child...as my woman, you are entitled to so many things. Oblige by my rules and you live here safely. Since there's no baby in that belly, why don't I love you for the last time uh? Roughly this time without the influence of drug or anything"

May shifted back in shock. She supported her belly under the huge hoodie, her eyes filled with fear.

"You are insane!" She screamed.

GOLD MANSION.

The next morning.

Reporter: As we can see, a big crisis has fallen. Right now, I am in front of GK+R Hospital and I'll be going to the CEO of the hospital. Mr Kevin, what will you say about this sudden chaos that occurred? Is it true that Mr Alexander brought this company under his name? I heard the next day, that it was getting demolished.

The man in his mid-thirties looked blankly at the camera, some dark circle bags were under his eyes, meaning he had no wink of sleep. But furtively, he took his gaze away and gritted his teeth. The female reporter looked at him in a bemused way waiting for his response which never came as the man had left with his bodyguards. Left speechless, she composed herself with a weak smile "We still have no news of what might have transpired? Wait, let's talk with staff if he knows anything" She moved towards the male staff shivering on the flower stand and fixed both the microphone and camera on him.

"Any clue of w........?"

The male staff took to his heels without replying. In front of the huge hospital, troops of people bypassed while others were murmuring amongst themselves.

The reporter returned from the hospital and announced "I got news from a source that the new President of Su corporation was stopped and restricted from moving any inch to the top room of the hospital. The main reason is still unknown.

"ARGH!!! What the fuck is this? You got yourself partnered with that man?" The TV was switched off and the glass remote was powerfully smashed to the ground. A pair of green wrinkled eyes, augmented with exasperation, shot his cold daggers at the man before him.

"TELL ME!! I INVESTED A LOT IN THAT HOSPITAL...THIS IS HOW IT'S GOING TO END!"

Kevin lowered his head "Elder Brother, I am sorry...it's all my mistake"

Flame flashed desperately inside Mr Gold's eyes, his veins were now popping out "Mistake!! We came to china for one purpose...did you forget? To expand businesses and rule over the goddamn country. How can you be so foolish? What were you thinking when you sold that building to some blind conceited man...Kevin! Answer me now! Otherwise, I'll be forced to kill you"

"FATHER!"

"UNCLE!"

A young woman on a red silk shirt and a black denim skirt, her beautiful face clad with light makeup and a little touch of red matte on her thin lips. She walked in despair as a thread of fear endorsed her. If there was one name Rebecca was dreadful of, that would be OWEN HENRY GOLD. HER FATHER.

Mr Henry softened his eyes when he was his precious only daughter. He separated his arms and called "Princess, come give papa a hug. It's been so long since you visited me...Is your work more important than me?" His face had a tinge of sadness in it. Rebecca stole a look at her uncle and bit her lips. He didn't tell father, did he?

"Papa" She pulled her body to his enlarged arms and nuzzled her cold body against his chest. Kevin gazed at the father-daughter moment, something heavy tied his chest when looking at the loving duo.

"Father I saw the news...a..are you angry?" Rebecca thought thoroughly before asking. Mr Henry graced his hand on her hair "How can I be angry when my precious baby is here?"

Testing the waters, she inquired "So you aren't angry with Uncle?" Her heart dropped when she saw the ferocious fire in his eyes "Father...it is not uncle's fault...that man must have threatened him with my name. You know! Right uncle?"

Kevin gave her a 'Stop this madness' look.

Mr Henry smiled deeply "For my princess, I won't be angry anymore...did you take a day off from work? To spend time with me"

Rebecca beamed foolishly and nodded her head. No one other than her knew the main reason. She didn't come to play child, she came to make sure her uncle didn't dare open his mouth about what really happened.
