New Pupil?

Inside the mercenary guild, there were a lot of people inside. Most of them were mercenaries, but there were also normal people who came to drink and make small talk with those mercenaries, especially businessmen who made a trip from town to town. Mercenaries often went on a quest and they knew about most of the situation of the surrounding area which made them a very valuable information source. Businessmen need to know about the situation in the surrounding area so they won't be attacked by bandits or magical beasts. Though, there are also some people who only seek a friend to talk to and drink a beer inside the mercenaries guild. Overall the situation of this place was very festive.

Outside of the mercenary guild, there was a boy around eight years old. He had silver bluish hair and a short figure. He wore normal clothes and there was a wooden staff which was designed similar to a magician staff whether this boy could use it or not it was different matter, but he thought he was very handsome. He seemed very excited and wondering whether he could see a strong magician inside.

Lyon Vastia.

It was the name of this boy. He walked from town to town in search of the most powerful magician so he could become powerful too. Entering the mercenary guild, he looked around curiously and he also felt slightly nervous. He was an 8 year old kid after all and of course, he was quite nervous about a new place. Looking around, he went toward the counter to ask the employee about the most powerful magician in this town.

"Oh, boy? What are you doing here?"

When Lyon walked, the mercenaries who had been drinking since afternoon noticed him and looked at him curiously since it was very rare for a child to enter this place.

"My name is Lyon Vastia! Who is the strongest magician in this town?"

Lyon had a smile on his face and his thought was pretty simple. He wanted to search for the strongest magician in this town and asked his/her to make him into his/her pupil.

Everyone seemed to feel a bit funny when they heard the boy's words.

"Stronger magician? Well, if it is around this place then it is probably Ur..."

"Ur?"

Lyon perked his ears and listened to the people talk carefully.

"You might be able to see her in town once or twice, but she mostly lives in her house in the snowy mountains."

"Huh? Why does she live there?" Lyon asked curiously.

The men around me had empathetic expressions and smiled bitterly.

"After losing her daughter several years ago, she retired and went away to live in the mountains."

"No other magician around here was a match for Ur, showing how strong she was."

Lyon's eyes brightened up and wondered how powerful Ur was. "Ur, huh? I wonder if she'll let me be her pupil."

"You want to become her pupil?"

They looked at Lyon curiously.

"Of course! I want to become the strongest magician and of course, I want the strongest magician to teach me, then I can overcome them!" Lyon showed determination in his eyes and desired to become powerful.

"But you might be late since she already has a pupil."

"What?!" Lyon was startled when he heard it. "Ur has pupil? Who is it?" He felt a sense of deep crisis. He wanted to become the pupil of the strongest magician, but his plan would be foiled if the magician had already a pupil. He wasn't sure what to do, but he knew that he needed to know who this pupil was and even if he couldn't change this pupil's position, at least, he wanted to become a second pupil.

"His name is Bourne. The genius merchant of this town."

"M, merchant?"

Lyon was dumbfounded at that moment.

---

"Bourne! Bourne! Where are you?"

Ur shouted loudly. She felt annoyed when she thought about her pupil. She knew that he was very strong, but he was too lazy to train. This time, when she was about to add his training, he had run away and hid away from her. In the past, it was very easy to find him, but he kept growing everyday. His disguise and hiding means became stronger which made her troubled to find him. If he didn't use his means of disguise and hiding to run away from training then she would be proud of him, but she knew that it was impossible since she knew how lazy he was.

Ur knew that she might have trained him so hard that it made him complain, but no one could blame since she was happy to see her pupil absorb her knowledge like a sponge. His ability to learn was very amazing, but this guy was too lazy.

"Just one day! One day! I want a break one day!"

His voice echoed throughout the surrounding area and it was impossible to hear his location from his voice alone.

"One day?! Then tomorrow you're going to ask the same thing again?! Just hurry up and get out for me!"

Ur roared, but it was even more impossible for him to get out.

Bourne was deep inside the snow. He knew snow magic and it was easy for him to create an underground igloo. He wasn't in a mood to train and he wanted to lazy around, but he knew that it was impossible. Though with this, he believed that he would be able to get a few hours of sleep before he was being dragged outside.

His "Water" magic was amazing. The more he learnt the more he knew that this magic was powerful. He could blend easily inside the water and he had also developed his magic to blend himself with both snow and ice. For the voice before, it was only a trick using a Miniature Communication Lacrima which he had scattered in the surrounding area. As long as he talked inside this underground igloo, his voice would be connected to the Miniature Communication Lacrima which he had scattered before.

But he might have underestimated Ur since this woman was a legitimate S-Class magician and stayed with him, she also got stronger too.

Suddenly a hand appeared in front of him and grabbed his head before dragging him outside of the underground igloo.

"....."

Ur and Bourne stared at each other. Ur had a beautiful smile on her face looking at her pupil.

"..."

"Let's work hard to train, Ur!"

Bourne raised his hand high and seemed very eager to train.

"....."

"Triple no, quadraple. Let's add four times of your training today."

"De--"

"Quintuple."

"...."

Bourne sighed, but he noticed someone who was coming in their direction. It seemed to be a child from his height. "Ur, it seems that someone is coming."

Ur looked at Bourne with skeptical eyes.

"It's real. You can see it over there."

Bourne pointed his finger in one direction.

Ur looked in the direction pointed by Bourne and she really saw someone.

Both of them saw a boy who seemed to be eight years old.

The boy also noticed both Ur and Bourne. He looked at both of them strangely since the Ur grabbed Bourne's head with vice-claw, but Bourne seemed unperturbed by it which made this situation felt a bit strange.

"My name is Lyon! Who is Ur? I want to become her pupil!"
