Chapter 7

••••Adalynn's Perspective••••

Quickly looking up from my book I blink at Saber's lifeless body on my floor and am slightly confused. Was he not just talking to me or was I going insane due to my proximity to him? Speaking softly to myself I stand up and start to make my way over to him.

"Well fuck maybe dead bodies can talk."

Kneeling down I places my hand in front of where his face should be, to check that he's still breathing, before speaking again.

"You know you are a lot of trouble. Is this how men feel about women, cause God damn I just kinda wanna push you down the stairs and pretend I never let you fall into my shop."

At my last words, a soft growl escapes him as he speaks in a low husky tone causing me to quickly stumble backwards falling flat onto my butt.

"First off fuck you, second off I need you to go into my satchel by the front door and grab a vile that has pure black liquid in it fast."

Pushing myself up off the floor I blink and him and laugh softly before responding.

"Oh, I'm sorry I didn't know we reached the point in our relationship where I take orders from the stranger who I saved from dying. Also, why the hell is your bag by my front door? What if someone walked in here and stole it, then what would you do? But you know what, by all means make yourself at home here right cause like I saved you so we must be dating now right?"

Turning I shook my head and walked off towards the front door mumbling to myself.

"It wouldn't take much effort right; I mean how heavy could he really be? All I gotta do is just roll him over and let gravity do the rest."

Just as I finished speaking a few vials on the wall and some cauldrons rattled around the room followed by his words. I couldn't help but wonder if this was how he always was or if I was just special.

"No one would have been able to see my satchel besides me but when I gave you the order to get the vile my spell allowed you to see it too."

Huffing softly, I nodded but couldn't get past the fact that not only had this man made himself right at home like we had been friends for years, but he also had hidden it for anyone including myself to possibly trip over.

"Well, that's lovely tell me you don't leave invisible shoes by the door to cause you could trip people with that shit then someone's hurt and I'm dealing with a fucking citation for personal endangerment. You're an animal you know that?"

Everything about this man frustrated me to no avail and I wanted to scream. I wanted to tell him to get his stuff and go bother someone else. Yet at the same time I was for some reason rather indifferent about the bag. Picking it up I made my way back to him while looking it over, half having expected it to shimmer or maybe look more magical, but it didn't, it was just a basic brown satchel like any other satchel. Dropping it on the floor in front of him I waited for him to say something.

As he reached into the bag it was as if he knew I was waiting for something and clearly, he felt like he needed to explain himself. His voice was the usual husky and semi demanding as he did.

"Even if someone walks into one of my items, they will walk through them because the spell wouldn't allow anyone besides me and who ever I put the spell on to see or touch the item."

Pulling out a vial of dark shimmering liquid so thick that even the empty space in the vial was void of light. Pulling the cork off the vial he spoke but I was slightly unsure if he was talking to himself or to me.

"Once I drink this liquid all my wounds and magic will be back fully."

Looking down I noticed a drop of dark liquid burning a small hole in the floor itself. Huffing softly, I look back up and him and blink.

"Geez do you even have insides cause if you do, I'm gonna have a mess on my floor if I even have a floor anymore. Also, what is wrong with you, hexing me so that now I can trip over your stuff."

••••••Sabers Perspective••••••

Smirking at her words I couldn't help but find her cute. She clearly knew nothing of my world and her reactions just made it so much more fun to be around her. Speaking softly, I tried to reassure her that not only was she fine but so was I as I had done this all before.

"Nothing is wrong with me, yes this may appear to be acidic, but it isn't gonna do any damage to me as I made it correctly. Oh, and I did not hex you the spell I use is called Reaper's Veil. It allows me to have anything I want hidden from everyone unless I choose otherwise. My magic is much more advance than some silly little hex."

Once I was finished speaking, I held the vial up to my face waiting for her to turn around only for her to sit there staring at me like she had completely forgotten that I didn't take down my veil with people watching. Lifting my other hand, I made a gesture for her to turn around and waited.

Clearly annoyed, she rolled her eyes before slowly turning around.

"Yeah, okay hexes aren't real… If you say so mister, I'm all mysterious and like to hide my shoes and bag at the door. I'm just saying I trip on anything I'm kicking your ass down the stairs for funsies."

"Oh and can you please for the love of the gods stop being so weird about me seeing your face. After all you have already made yourself at home here the least you could do is let me see what you really look like."

Smiling softly at her words I watched her for a second to make sure she wasn't going to turn back around before finally taking down my veil. Placing the vile to my lips, I tipped back the Ethereal Tonic and counted to 5 before casting the spell to put the veil back up before opening my mouth to tell her she could turn around. However, as I did, she started to walk off toward her desk speaking again.

"Oh, and for future reference don't tell me what to do, you're not my dad and you're not my boyfriend. Am I clear?"

Laughing I stood up and followed her. It was absolutely adorable how upset she was, but I wasn't sure if it was because I had made her turn around and wouldn't let her see what I looked like or if it was because I had made myself at home.

Stopping in front of the desk, I smiled as I watched her sit down speaking softly.

"Oh man your people are quite small minded on things of the realm of magic aren't you. I mean I get I come from a different planet and different parts of the world, or worlds have a weird outlooks on things but seriously."

It was clear that she was, however, quite good at comebacks as almost instantly she quipped back.

"Small minded is a big leap coming from the guy who just told me hexes aren't real. Look, I don't question if your magic is real, but I also know hexes are in fact very real. I also know to just what extent a hex can go which includes surpassing any potion you could dream up. So, no sir I am far from small minded when it comes to magic. I believe you know magic I don't just as I know magic you couldn't wield even in your wildest dreams but sure call me small minded."

Looking around for a chair I softly huff at her words as it's clear she has a point. My intention was never to upset her but with how she talked sometimes it just seemed as it the people of this world were very sheltered to others even though the planetary tethers made travel easy as 1,2,3. Clearing my throat I responded.

"Well shit forgot I said that. I'll just remove the spell so you won't be able to see anything that you shouldn't see Ms. Adalynn."

Making a small motion towards the shadow behind a stake of books and hoping she's too lost in what she's doing to notice it. Thankfully she misses it and as if nothing happened, she speaks again.

"So did you deal with your business or did you just pass out on my floor for no real reason?"

Smiling softly at her I nodded and quickly replied hoping we could get the show on the road.

"Yeah, my business is done and I got what I needed, well at least what that fuck could give me. So when are you going to do your testing?"

She bit her lip softly and I was sure she was about to tell me she couldn't do it. I mean this woman was a doctor and I had just asked her to torture a person for her own personal gain. However, before she could reply there was a loud knock at the door.
