Reasons

Yan Renhuo, was a renowned figure in the central region. Hailed as one of the promising juniors in the Ancient Scripture Academy, she was pretty well known.

Aside from that, she was a member of the Yan family and her beauty was truly top class. If not for her picky attitude, with her astronomical number of suitors lining up just to meet her, Yan Renhuo would already have a dao companion.

Her suitors were numerous and were all brilliant just like her. But for some odd reason, Yan Renhuo didn't seem to fancy any of them and continued to look for the one who will be able to satisfy the somewhat non-existing criteria in her mind.

What that meant is that, she had yet to fully comprehend what she wants in the one who will become her dao companion. That is until she saw Wang Ling's boldness and show of power.

His spear was great and his courage to face that tsunami of spirit qi was something that made her heart skip a beat. She was a saint, however, she knew that if she was on his level, she wouldn't have the strength or the courage to do what he had done.

Replicating such feats was not something she could imagine. Although she was strong, Yan Renhuo was still lacking and she was adamant on admitting this fact. She was hailed a genius but unlike other geniuses who only see themselves as the best and without compare.

Yan Renhuo was the exact opposite and dares to question her own capabilities. Not that she was unconfident, she was just curious and hungry for more power.

In her 23 years of being alive, she had seen many people who was the exact opposite of her. Even her suitors was opposite of her. But when she saw Wang Ling, whose strength is something that made her look at him in amazement.

Yan Renhuo knew that this man was the right person to become her dao companion. He was perfect to become the one who will join her in her quest of reaching the top. It was a baseless assumption other than that fight, she did not know Wang Ling very well but because of one gut feeling, she went for it and called out to him.

But who in the whole realm would have thought that Wang Ling, a no name foundational phase cultivator would reject such a proposal?

Her mind blanked out for a second as she looked at Wang Ling who was standing in front of her. That one unhesitating word echoed inside her. She even had to ask Wang Ling one more time to confirm if what she had heard was correct.

"What did you just say?" Yan Renhuo asked with her voice slightly trembling.

But to her dismay, Wang Ling only answered with, "No, so can I go now?"

Yan Renhuo watch Wang Ling turn around without any hesitation and called out to him, "Wait, I think you don't know who I am so you're deciding things too fast. I am Yan Renhuo of the Ancient Scripture Academy, one of the seven Phoenixes of the central region."

After saying all those words, Wang Ling raised a brow with interest. He didn't think that someone from central region, and someone who was considered as a genius would be so desperate on trying to become his partner.

Yan Renhuo seem to have misunderstood his interested look and was already rejoicing. Wait, rejoicing? Why she feeling some sense of accomplishment? While her thoughts was occupied, Wang Ling spoke.

"Um, your achievements are pretty good and it seems like you have talent. But answer me one thing, do you have an experience in Alchemy?"

It was a strange question to ask, it was so out of context that Yan Renhuo just answered him unintentionally and nodded her head in confirmation.

Wang Ling's face beamed as he said.

"That's good, well, if you have an experience in Alchemy then that is good. Your name is Yan Renhuo correct? Well, I wish to answer you now but I have a lot of things to do, let us talk more in the coming future, but I have something to take care of for now, so farewell." Wang Ling finally turned around and left.

Yan Renhuo wanted to call out to him once more but Qigang's figure appeared from the side and spoke to her.

"Please stop, the First Young Master had just finished fighting. Please refrain from adding any unnecessary stress to his mind."

Yan Renhuo did what Qigang had said and said nothing. Qigang showed a passive smile before disappearing and reappearing beside Wang Ling. His existence was no secret to anyone so he didn't need to hide.

Yan Renhuo dazedly looked at Wang Ling and Qigang's disappearing back with a confused and shaken look on her visage. While her mind was preoccupied by the mysterious expert that was Qigang, a hand grab her shoulder from behind.  

"Sister Yan Renhuo, you best stop moving around like that else I tell on you to the Flame Mistress." The elegant lady appeared from behind her.

The elegant lady noticed that the always flamboyant Yan Renhuo was somewhat quiet and unresponsive. She turned her over and saw that Yan Renhuo was sweating bullets.

"What happened?"

Yan Renhuo showed a force smile as she said, "It seems like that Wang Ling is more interesting than I thought."

Yan Renhuo was even more interested in Wang Ling now that he had been able to talk to him.

"Why did you ignore her? It seems like she was really talented and she has a lot of potential. Also, she was pretty and was offering herself to you, why didn't you accept her?" Bai Xue remarked.

Wang Ling shook his head before explaining, "She's a good seed, but being her dao companion is not going to happen. Besides, I did accept, didn't I say we will talk in the future?"

Even with her high intellect, Bai Xue could not understand everything without any proper context. Although she did indeed have an idea what he was talking about, she was still unsure so she asked, "What do you mean?"

"I've been wanting to find a good Alchemist, I was disappointed with my first choice, but this time, I am hoping she's good. Oh, about her throwing herself at me, I don't want that, I'm not too into that kind of thing."

Wang Ling and Bai Xue was talking quietly and was restricting their voices to be heard out loud by using their spirit qi as a channel. Qigang has no idea what the two of them were talking about.

Wang Ling did not wander far from the colosseum. He only went to find a quiet place so he can train his spear. He placed Bai Xue down to take her favorite nap and he continued to train.

His training was quick and fast, but his spear was still fierce and indomitable.

"First Young Master, it seems like you also have the talent in the art of spear. I fear that even Second Young Master isn't going to be a match to you in terms of mastery. But I have got to say, where did you learn how to use the spear?" Qigang asked curiously while watching from the side.

"There are a lot of books concerning the art of the spear in the library of the Wang family manor back in the Azure Skies Kingdom. I learn it myself, through self-comprehension that is."

"Oh, don't tell about this to Wang Hong. His mastery of the spear is already good enough…"

Qigang became quiet at his remark.
