CHAPTER SIX

**Kaylan**

She didn't know whatever scent it was that woke her up from her deep slumber but it smelled so damn good and intoxicating, damn! Her heart was beating rapidly as she stood up and craned her neck but the drip on her body sent her back to the bed.

"What the hell happened?"

She tried to recall but her whole body was burning with the need to quench this hunger and look for this scent that was calling unto her all of a sudden.

Her head pounded in pain as the memories of what happened flooded in and hot tears welled in her eyes.

Those brothers will kill her for making a mess at the Pack's meeting.

It's already too surprising that she's being treated and staying in a nice room when she's supposed to flee for her pathetic life.

"Fuck! What the hell is this sweet smell?" She growled and removed the drip connected to her skin.

"I must find this scent before I leave!" She muttered under her breath and stood up, fighting back the urge to lick the air that smelt like chocolate berries and strawberries with a mixture of wild sunflowers, sending butterflies to her stomach at the thought of finding whatever was behind it as the strong compelling force was too much to ignore.

Her wolf was damn eager too, she frantically scanned her body and hands to be sure the Wolfbane was secretly stuck in the side pocket of her inner wretched clothes and stormed out.

The smell grew worse as she clutched her clothes tighter and shook her head.

No! This was purely a distraction and she needed to fight it and find her cue to leave or her head would be rolled and would continue the difficult task of choosing between two devils.

She descended the staircase and wondered who mistakenly put her up in the Pack's guest room.

"Where are you going?" Her legs wobbled in sudden shock at the sound of his voice and she rolled down the stairs, breaking her ankle in the process to face Cypher whose countenance expressed shock.

"I…" She swallowed hard and bowed.

"I was going to the kitchen!" She blurted out and he came closer with that same frown that was plastered on his face and yanked her close till her body slammed on his, sniffing her hard before pushing her away suddenly.

"What the hell?" He cursed and she felt the strong force that compelled her to him and her skin burned at his touch. That silly smell that got her enchanted was stronger than before and the wolf howled in deep want and need.

"Mate!" She growled and she knew she was doomed.

"No way please, not him!!" She cursed bitterly.

Hot tears slipped down her eyes as his eyes blinked in confusion. He was looking for something too, she could feel it. She's sure he came here because of the scent.

Cypher was trying so hard to contort his shock but he just couldn't.

She made to say something to cause the silence was too much for her to handle and he cursed so loud in regret.

"I reject myself as your mate!"

She blurted out and he punched the wall above her hard, earning a crack as if he was in raw pain.

"You didn't only two-timed me with my brother but you're my fucking mate!" He roared out in anger and slapped her hard.

"Who said you could reject yourself, what the fuck are you doing to me, you sly wolf?"

Kaylan couldn't say a word but let the tears flow. Of all the men that existed in the universe, the moon goddess decided to bless her with a beast.

He looked disappointed and her wolf howled in pain, sending her heart into fury, his dark aura illuminated the hall light as he looked around to be sure no one heard what transpired between them.

"Not a word should be heard about this!" He warned coldly and she nodded. "And you remain my Luna when the moon goddess arrives."

She bit her lips hard and nodded till he left her sight.

She managed to stagger to the entrance of the royal hall before letting go of her heart in hot tears and cursing her existence over and over again till she wiped her tears.

She would fight it and steer clearway from him, being close to him was a sin but being a mate to him was even a curse on its own.

"Kaylan!" A loud voice echoed her name as she shrieked in fear when the headservant stood before her.

"I can see that you're awake, Alpha Gareth demands your presence now but before that, go and clear those mess you left in the pretense of collapsing!" She yelled and Kaylan nodded.

"Don't nod at me!" She dragged and twisted her ears painfully and she screamed.

"Yes, yes I've heard please!"

Kaylan muttered and she still dragged her along.

How could she have survived if the wolf's bane bottle had dropped out that moment she had fallen, she would have hung her throat in the air.

The kitchen was a mess as her wolf coiled in torment. Not a single time where she got to rest in her life, all chores meant for the maids were heaped on her since she was the forbidden one in their sight.

She had almost bent down to start her endless painful journey of chores when the Beta walked in and gasped.

"What are you doing here Beta?" Layla bowed, acting all concerned like a mother

when she was a witch in disguise.

He looked from the heap of plates to the messy Kitchen to me before staring back at Layla.

"Where are the other maids?" He inquired and frowned.

"Uhmm..I'll call them, do you need anything?" She asked, batting her lashes.

"Of course I do, I'm thinking of replacing your position with another person so you'll learn how to assign duties correctly." He fired.

She gasped and he turned to her, darting his gaze to the plates Kaylan was holding.

"Drop it and follow me immediately."

Kaylan sighed in relief and walked after him, at least she could save her strength.

He looked so disturbed and worried that she was forced to ask what was wrong. Zane was always the cheerful type but right now he looked as if he had seen a ghost and couldn't recover from the shock.

By the time they reached the royal hall, he pinned her to the wall in anger and stared at her with total disdain which made her heart jump in harsh beats.

"What the fuck did you do to Cypher?" He asked every word with spite that she furrowed her brows in confusion.

"I don't understand." Kaylan choked on her words.

"Tell me!" He yelled and flickered his eyes around. "He slumped on the floor right after he had a conversation with you, what the hell did you do?"

She gasped in shock and covered her mouth with her trembling hands.
