Chapter 6: Hide and seek

The streets were quiet as the sun began to set in the west behind the skyscrapers and the hills in the distance. It was the first real sunset since coming to this world.

" It's beautiful, isn't it? The first time I saw it I had just escaped from Techtra and had the exact same face you have now." The cool breeze blew across my face as I took in the view with 6 next to me.

"How did you lot find me anyway?" I was getting curious.

"We searched for self sustaining energy reactors spikes in the area. We've been doing this for years in hundreds of cities. We got luck finding you." The world is still a dangerous place I was lucky I was found by them and not techtra.

"Wait. 6 do Tecktra have any satellites." Dread filled my heart.

"Yes. Wh… crap! I'll warn 4 and 9 that the base is compromised on the link get to site B and take this. It should stop them from tracking you!" He threw a small silver pin at me. It was light and easy to attach to my clothing.

6 had sent the coordinates to a place outside of the city.

"Sir we lost 7 tracking signal. We suspect the others found him and found out what we were doing." The dark room was filled with people at desks trying to find intel.

"FUCK!!! How did you lose it!? We were this close. THIS CLOSE, to getting it and. YOU!LOST! IT!!!" This mans neck seemed as if it was about to burst with the veins bulging out.

"Send in a death squad. NOW!" Anger filled the room as the man looked like he was about to kill someone or something.

"Yes major sir." The soldier left the room clearly shook.

" Dam fucking machines."

A fiery pillar of blue flame erupted into the sky causing a breathtaking spectacle. But it was strange it was one line of explosion with no impact to the area just the hideout.

[7 we're at the back. Can you let us in? The key went missing long ago.]

As soon as I opened the door 9, 4 stumbled in with 6's arms wrapped around their necks.

"Hey kid. This is why we were looking for power sources. We are dying… slowly but we are dying. Your the only one the made a self sustaining energy source. They didn't do it for 9 or the others because of what happened to you. Shutting down and all that." He was starting to go limp.

"Kid get over here. Since your the only one with an infinite power source so theoretically you are a walking charger." He attached jumper cables to 6's chest then mine.

The shock hit me straight away, then it nulled after a while.

"6's condition is stabilising. We were lucky that even worked. He's resting now."
