Chapter 27
Daniel stood on the dock and watched Paul walk off the boat leading the other slaves. He shook with fear and anger, and he had no idea what to do. Daniel had never worried too much about the Book. Even if he glossed over some of the myriad of trivial instructions he still treasured the idea that God had given them the Book to keep them from displeasing God.
Now Paul said that he didn't think the Book was from God at all, and that the people who hurt others were following their Book. Paul wanted to throw it all away and start doing everything that the Book said not to, but he was afraid. What if Paul was wrong?
He watched until the slaves had all disappeared into a functional looking building. Then he waited hoping that someone would go in and buy Paul and then Daniel could rescue him. Only nobody came and Daniel was getting hungry. He had no money and no way home, assuming he could rescue Paul. He needed help.
