Chapter Thirty Nine

"Fuck-!" Round face began to panic, "-fuck, fuck, fuck!"

"You two-" Orange hair turned; "-we are gonna make sure you never talk about today-"

"Wh-What?" Asui trembled.

Round face and orange hair lunged for Asui and Mina, who struggled against the third years tight hold.

"What is the meaning of this!?"

Everyone inside the gym room froze, the third years looked over the first-year shoulders to see Ectoplasm walking through the shining doors with his class trailing right behind him. After twenty minutes had gone by, Ectoplasm watched the clock with an unnerving feeling eating away at his gut. So, he brought his students on a small field trip.

Bakugo had his arms crammed into his pockets, looking off into space feeling annoyed until he lazily surveyed the scene. His heart slammed into his throat; he pulled his hands from his pockets upon seeing you lying motionless on the floor.

At first his steps were slow, hesitant almost, then he broke out into an all-out sprint to your side.

"(y/n)!" Midoriya and Shoto were right on Bakugo's tail as they dropped to their knees at your side.

"What the fuck happened!?" Bakugo growled, looking from you then to the two third years sweating bullets.

"Answer the question." Ectoplasm sneered, walking closer to the boys. Mina and Asui were pulled back by Ojiro and Koda.

Bakugo turned, he looked at you up and down not having a clue what to do. He reached out, for the first time in two long weeks he touched you.

"Tch." He quickly withdrew his hand from your arm, pain shocked his skin.

"Are you ok Kacchan?" Midoriya asked,

"What is this?" Shoto wondered, removing his hand from your fingers getting shocked as well.

"No way in hell can we move her." Bakugo's face was tight as he turned. "What the hell happened!?"

"She-" Mina shook her head, "-She blocked a lightning strike."

"You used your quirks on under classmen?" Ectoplasm pressed,

"She got in the way of a fucking lightening bolt!?" Bakugo cursed you, always getting in the way!

"What do we do?" Midoriya questioned Shoto, "If we can't move her..."

"Dunce face-!" Bakugo called, "-come here!"

"I have a name you know!" Kaminari replied but came as told. Bakugo grabbed Kaminari's wrist and quickly jumped back after placing Kaminari's hand on your shoulder.

"AH!" Kaminari cried out, getting electrocuted by your unconscious body. Shoto dragged Midoriya by his shirt back before getting shocked.

"Smart thinking Bakugo!" Momo praised, "Kaminari should be able to soak up whatever electricity is inside (y/n)!"

"Yeah." Midoriya breathed, "Great idea Kacchan."

"Yeah, I know." Bakugo glanced over, seeing the third years were pined by Ectoplasm's clones.

"Ah ha ha ha!" Kaminari giggled as he fell backwards.

"Wow-" Jiro looked hovering over the blond; "-she fried his brain."

"That's not hard to do."

"I knew (y/n) and I had sparked between us!" Kaminari blushed, laying on his back as the room spun.

"Shut the fuck up!" Bakugo barked, "There is no sparks, just fucking electricity!"

"That kind of what is sparks-" Shoto cut himself off looking away from Bakugo's glare.

"Hey guys-!" Midoriya stood, panic seeping through him. "-she-she's not breathing!" Midoriya pointed to you. Bakugo's head whipped down, sure enough Midoriya was annoyingly right. Your chest had stopped faintly moving up and down.

"Bakugo-!" Ectoplasm ordered, "-get her to Recovery Girl!"

Bakugo didn't need an order, he was already reaching down scooping you up. He ignored the shocking pain radiating inside his arms as he took off in a sprint from the gym.

----

"She is alive." Recovery Girl waved off All Might's worried voice over the phone. "She was given to me in time."

Bakugo looked over, he was sitting at your bedside watching Recovery Girl speak to All Might over the phone who was away from the school today for a meeting. The rest of your class wasn't allowed to enter, Recovery girl didn't need her office to be filled with worried students.

Bakugo studied your sleeping expression, your head was slightly tilted in his direction. He focused on the outline of your lips, how thick your eyelashes were, the shape of your nose, he memorized every detail.

"Well then-" Recovery Girl said walking over, finally getting off the phone with All Might.

"I'm not leaving." Bakugo firmly stated.

"I didn't say that now did I?" Recovery Girl replied examining the two of you. Bakugo looked over at the old lady, and followed her gaze. Bakugo madly blushed seeing his hand was still wrapped around yours, he hadn't even noticed it. Quickly he dropped your hand, pulling his into his lap.

Recovery Girl let out a huff of air before pulling up a chair to sit beside the explosive blond.

"What did you do?" Recovery Girl asked after a moment.

"Why the hell would I have been the one to do something!?" Bakugo snapped, earning a smack to the head.

"Unlike some lucky people I have met you." Recovery Girl commented, "You are crass and short tempered, but under all that you are a good student and you will be a good hero."

"I'm going to be the number one hero!" Bakugo corrected.

"Yes-Yes." Recovery Girl waved, "So what did you do?"

"I...I said somethings that weren't the best..."

"Did you mean them?"

"No!" Bakugo sighed, "I don't know why I said what I said, I just..." Bakugo breathed through his nose looking back at you, where that stupid hot bubbly feeling filled his chest and annoyed him.

"I think-" Recovery Girl spoke after a while of silence, the only sound coming from the beeping of your heart monitor. "-it's incredible that she is still so kind."

"Hah?"

"(y/n) has had one of the worst hands dealt to her in life. Most broken people like her become so angry and act out of rage and wish to get revenge but she chooses to care about people, to even go out of her way of them, even when most people she knew stabbed her in the back."

"What do you mean by people she knew?"

"I see she hasn't opened up much."

"What does that mean old lady!?"

"I am not old-!" Recovery Girl smacked Bakugo, "-I am aged-"

"That's the same thing!"

"-(y/n) was rescued with two other people."

"Huh? People...like her..." Bakugo turned to you, recalling when you claimed everyone like you were dead.

"Shadow Jack truly is the darkest evil. He collected children, forced them to bond and grow close to each other. He used them as pons to force the others to cooperate, if they didn't then he killed them."

"Wh-What!?" Bakugo leaned forward, uncrossing his arms.

"(y/n) was taken to the hospital with two boys, Shiro and Gray. Those three survived together and for (y/n)'s entire life, they were her family. After being rescued, they left."

"They left?" Bakugo shifted in his chair, "Where did they go?"

"They each got lucky, had family who wanted them. (y/n) not so much. Shiro and Gray decided neither of them wanted to bring (y/n) along with them."

"Wait-" Bakugo shook his head, "-why wouldn't they!?"

"We don't know." Recovery Girl replied, "They weren't even going to tell her they were leaving, she caught them before they got in their cap."

"What-What did they say!?"

"They didn't want her." Recovery Girl answered, "I suppose I understand in way, each of them needed to discover who they wanted to be in their new life. But it broke (y/n), how could it not? The only people she believed she could fall back on, walked away from her the first chance they got."

Bakugo turned to you, his heart aching as he replayed him screaming at you.

'We are not fucking friends!'

Did that bring up fragments of those two turning their back on you?

"I'm telling you this-" Recovery Girl finished, "-because if you truly care for this girl, then you can stay. If not then please leave, a person can only take so much heart ache before they completely break."

"I..." Bakugo clamed up. "...I do..."

"You do what?"

"I do care!" Bakugo bit.

"If you are just her friend, then maybe you should let another student come in and see her." Recovery Girl slowly rose from her seat. "It's only fair-"

"I'm not just her fucking friend!" Bakugo snapped.

"Then what are you?"

"I-" Bakugo froze, realizing what that annoying little feeling inside his chest was.

"Well, I have to do some paper work. Come get me if she flat lines."

"You're a terrible school nurse!" Bakugo snapped, hearing a light chuckle coming from the old lady. Bakugo sighed, leaning forward glaring at your stupid face. No way in hell was he going to leave so that damn nerd or icy hot could come sit here with you.

"Hey dumbass-" He muttered, leaning on your bed. "-wake the hell up, we need to talk."

After a still moment he sighed seeing you not move an inch, he looked at your hand resting by your side. His fingers brushed over it,

"Why the hell would you jump in front of an attack like that, huh?" Bakugo shook his head, his thumb mindlessly rubbing circles on your palm.
